Swap Deal Involving Cisse Being Discussed

We suppose when we heard the news that Borussia Monchengladbach wanted to bring in another striker before they would let Luuk de Jong go on loan to Newcastle, we should have thought that Papiss Cisse may become involved in the deal.

Papiss Cisse – could be leaving Newcastle

There is news today that negotiations are continuing between Newcastle and the German club, and it could a swap deal for the two players could be agreed, with Cisse going to Germany, where he has played before in the Bundesliga for SC Freiburg, before joining Newcastle two years ago.

The local press is reporting that the deal could be either a permanent one or a loan deal, and that Joe Kinnear is due in Germany for the top level talks this week.

But after Luuk de Jong has been less than a success in Germany, we wonder if this would be a good deal for Newcastle – we are very doubtful about this, since the Dutchman is a completely unproven commodity in the Premier League, and he’s failed in the Bundesliga.

And at least Cisse has proved he can score goals in England, with 13 goals in his first 14 appearances for Newcastle, although he has gone off the boil a bit in the last two season.

Luuk de Jong is also five years younger than Cisse, which we suppose is a positive for Newcastle.

Papiss Cisse’s record at Newcastle is 79 appearances with 29 goals, which is not too bad.

And remember that once the German club said they had to find a striker to replace Luuk before he could go to Newcastle, it was natural that somebody was going to come up with this story, whether it’s accurate a not.

Would A Swap Deal Between Cisse And Luuk de Jong Be Good For Newcastle?

I’m not surprised by the Chronicle poll at all. I’ve said many times on here that most people you speak to at the match think Pardew is OK. It’s only on here that the most vociferous posters are anti-Pardew if Ed did a poll on Pardew I think a lot of you would be surprised at the results.

Would make sense, both players struggling because they don’t suit the manager

I think you’ve hit the nail on the head there
Some of the players we have bought simply don’t fit Pardews style of play
    Cisse is a prime example
And the fact he has stated he wanted Llana for me shows the type of player he wants instead of your HBA’s/Marveux’s
Now seeing as we don’t have Llana but HBA/Marveux is it easier to keep shuffling the squad with transfers or change the Management and coaching team to one with different philosophies?

Pardew and the board are a like for like representative of what we saw on the pitch last season, contrasting styles that don’t work together trying to be forced to work together

Any deal that involves Cisse moving out is a good deal for the club

People naturally complain more than they praise, so comments are difficult to judge what people want.

That poll is well done i feel, and accurate

I agree, it makes little sense to use people with conflicting styles. You don’t get an electrician to fix your plumbing.

Either get him the players he wants or get a new manager, none of this mix and match.

Also i think llana is a class act.

I think we should to our own poll on Mashley and Pardew as ED won’t do one, probably best when the last post for the day goes on about twelvish:
I’ll start now though, I’m happy with Pards simply because he’s the best we’ll get under the current regime.
    ASHLEY OUT !

I always find it interesting when managers rest players for tiredness.

Do you ever hear negredo at man city complaining he is tired when he’s banging the goals in? or anyone for that matter in a winning team – they never do as they don’t want to lose their place.

People only get tired when the team is bad, too convenient of an excuse.

Look at start of Cisse’s first season when he was literally knocking goals in for Fun whilst ONLY wearing his socks .. And then put in boots and the rest is history

I can’t imagine Joe Kinnear being involved in top-level anything, least of all top-level talks! He’ll have to watch his mouth.

It would be a loan deal if at all Kinnear can’t do proper transfers must create the wrong impression with other clubs! Still that’s what Ashley might want doesn’t spend too much of his money that way by having Kinnear!

What’s the harm in swapping the two? Cisse isn’t scoring anyways so at worst we get someone else who can’t score. At least Luuk is 6 years younger or something
