The Chronicle is reporting today that Luuk de Jong is eager to sign for Newcastle, after the Tyneside club have let him know they are keen to get him to the northeast , and his father has said it’s like they are in the waiting room at the moment – waiting for the deal to be completed.
Luuk de Jong – eager to come to Newcastle
But Monchengladbach still need to bring in a replacement for their Dutch International, which is what seems to be holding up the deal, and we suppose Newcastle are not willing for Papiss Cisse to go in the opposite direction.
A source close to the player’s father, George, has said this in Chronicle today:
“Luuk feels like he’s in the waiting room at the moment.” “He’s eager to sign for Newcastle but things are moving very slowly.”
“Gladbach don’t want to loan him out until they a back-up striker in as a replacement.” “Of course, it would be different if the transfer went through as a permanent deal.”
“But Newcastle have made it clear they want him on loan.” “Both Ajax and PSV were interested but the financial conditions of the deal no longer interest them. Now he’s just waiting for the next contact.
“Newcastle are the only real contenders at the moment.”
It seems the fee for Newcastle to sign the player permanently could be around £7M, and that’s less than the £10M Newcastle bid for him 18 months ago, and it’s almost half of what Monchengladbach paid for him in the summer of 2012 – when they signed him for £12.6M.
We suspect the German club are trying to claw back as much as they can for their Dutch striker, and their Sporting Director Max Eberl said this yesterday:
“We’ll deal with the situation when it occurs. The transfer window is open for another 11 days and things often happen towards the end – we’re now moving into that.” “We’ll wait and see.”
It would be good to get Luuk into Toon, but he would have to perform a lot better than he has in Germany over the last eighteen months, for the deal to be made permanent in the summer.
Comments welcome.

I’m not bothered about pardew screaming or swearing at our own players when they are making mistakes…just think his attitude to officials and opposing managers isn’t great.

Pardew and Sham are both same cut out of same cloth. Both rank bad.
But don’t you think your hatred of Pardew is clouding your judgement.

It’s nice that it is not us (Barton etc.) for a change. Next 3 league games for Swansea will be very interesting but I do not expect them to get into serious trouble.

Comment #89@Sage 57 I know Pardew has a pretty poor touchline record but for me I just didn’t really see the point of dedicating a portion of the show to it when they could’ve been talking about that disgraceful offside decision that went against us ha! Pardew is certainly no angel but there’s plenty of managers with black marks on their record.

Comment #90Unless intimidating officials is completely wiped out of the game, I have no problem with Pardew going the extra mile to push for decisions.
Why should we set a good example and potentially lose points, while other clubs managers use it for their clubs.
If you want to win enough, you will find ways, and some of those ways are not always pretty – Alex Ferguson was a prime example of that… Winners have zero tolerance for failure, and will go to some very extreme lengths to get their way.
More than that, it is nice to see the Manager cares.
Look at how Conte is ruling Italian football from the sidelines.

it’s certainly not a deal breaker in a manager, his discipline, much rather look at his record and ability. It is something he could work with.
Pardew caused another problem for himself. He said as a “punishment” (his words) for his behaviour he will do some local community/charity work which has angered local groups who claim helping the community and less fortunate isn’t a punishment…..he certainly puts his foot in it at times.
I’m sure he never meant anything by it though.

I would probably agree with you, but don’t see why Sissoko can not do the same from RM. Oh for the lack of injuries we don’t get to see players in alternative positions and a large minority are unused! I wish I was running around in 20 degree sunshine, waiting for the boss to put me to work.

You could say that, man city got the offside due to hart piping up, nothing was happening before that.
It’s not nice to see but the FA need to be stronger, the refs need to be stronger…..the managers do it as you say they can get away with it.

Comment #95If zouma is true then Colo as good as gone, I wonder if that’s another reason Jonas was loaned out?
Get cabella and de jong. No departures from 1st team and we’ve had a good window. In the summer if remy doesnt stay then look at 2 new forwards and maybe siem de jong. IF we’re in European competition. Strength amd depth gentlemen is the way forward.

SAF was much much worse as he also had influence over the officials, I don’t think pardew’s actions have had any influence on refs.
SAF just got away with everything, it was a joke.

Zouma is currently serving a 10-game ban after breaking the leg of Sochaux’s Thomas Guerbert but he is considered one of the best young defenders in Europe.

Not saying it was right but Fergie was a winner over 20+ years and maybe partly earned the right. Pardew not so much.

I think pardew’s one foray in to the transfer market resulted in obertan. Enough said! Left in charge we would have had Bent and Tomkins too!!
Carr has clearly bought in excellent players who would thrive under a more expansive and less cautious manager than pardew.
That said, I think Pardew is a 50/50 manager. In certain phases of games we have looked much better, but very rarely have we looked good for 90+ mins.
If pardew just gave full rein at times rather than pull down the shutters I think he would get a lot more support and achieve far better and more consistent results.

But giving up your free time to help a charity shouldn’t be seen as punishment, it’s rewarding to do these things, something you want to do. He makes it sound like it’s court ordered community service.
I’m sure he never meant it in a bad way, just things like that annoy some people, and I can see why.

Are you saying that Carr decides the positions we need and the players we sign without Pardew having any say?

thats an….erm…interesting point of view with regards to “earning the right to be abusive” through being a successful manager. I realise you are not saying it is right, you clearly stated that so fair enough, but IF it is the reason SAF got away with it, then some serious changes need to take place EVERYWHERE in football. It is unacceptable to let people off just because they won!

Comment #117Not a total Pardew fan but this agenda against him has to stop with the “any decent player we get its Carr and any shite player is Pardew” nonsense
Considering Pardew used his west ham connections to get Ba (our best striker since Shearer ) and said Sissoko was a player that he watched a few times personally and wanted him its not necessarily true that he is terrible at transfers
Has said in interviews that he wanted to sign the likes of Llanna , Defoe , Townsend and Long for our club anyone of them would have been a quality addition hell even Tomkins would be an upgrade on Taylor in fact if we had got a couple of them to blend in with the foreign lads we would be a threat for the Champs league spots
Obertan was worth a shot at the end of the day Ferguson has let a few players go that he got totally wrong so can see why 3 million for him seemed like a worthwhile buy
Remember Carr scouted Modibo Maiga , Cisse , Amalfitino , Abeid and Marveux who have pretty much been flops so he is far from perfect
