There’s news in le10sport.com in France today that if Newcastle approach Saint. Etienne for their 19 year-old young center-back Kurt Zouma, the player himself will reject the move.
Kurt Zouma – top young French defender
That’s because there are bigger clubs than Newcastle after him, and those clubs include Chelsea and Inter Milan, and both can offer the youngster Champions League football every season, and that’s something Newcastle cannot do for the foreseeable future.
That’s a fact – unfortunately.
Newcastle were interested in the top young French defender last summer, and if we had moved quickly at that time, there was probably a decent chance we could have signed the lad.
But with Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho said to be very keen on the youngster, this report in France should not be too big a surprise to Geordie fans.
Until Newcastle are in the top four in the Premier League most seasons, or make that a top goal for the club, the very best players will not come to Tyneside – because they want Champions League football, and you cannot blame them for that.
And the news in le10sport.com is that Saint Etienne have already received bids from both Inter-Milan and AS Monaco in the region of £10M for their top youngster.
Chelsea are aggressively pursuing the player, and look to be the club best positioned to get the Frenchman, as Kurt has already said he’d love to join the London club, and a deal could even be completed by the end of the week.
The only thing Newcastle could offer Kurt would be a much better chance of playing first team football than at Chelsea (or Inter), but it seems he is not too worried about being on the bench at Chelsea.
What do you think?
Comments welcome.

Yeah but how many leagues does he want them drop!
They’d be in trouble in the fizzy pop if they were playing like this!
I know someone who works not for WHU but directly for David Gold, there’s a serious question whether they are willing to bankroll another campaign in the lower leagues and are seriously looking at flogging the boyeln ground at the end of the season and selling up

Comment #44So. Both nufc and whu have recently played citeh at our respective homes. Buth us and whu have put out strongest available sides. Man citeh have a weaker midfeild tonight than against us. We lost 2-0, but had more posession and could easily and deservedly got something out of the game. We actually looked threatening at times.
Whu on the other hand are 2 down at half time, defending horrifically, playing hoofage and generally looking like amateurs. Amateur tiddlywink ppayers at that.
yep, sam sets his team up alright!

I’m hoping adding a player like Cabella with another option up front like De Jong will add that depth to the squad and extra options to the team that we will hopefully crack the consistency issue and get us playing those fantastic triangles we’ve been playing over 90 minutes

Comment #48another example of a young player having his head filled of rubbish by so called agents who claim to have the players interest at heart which we all know is untrue.
a good agency would be encouraging the young lad to stay put a get another season or 2 under his belt or set hus sights in a move to the likes if us or everton / southampton where he would gain valuable EPL experience and demonstrate he can cut the mustard so to speak.
however the green stuff talks and he will be sold a duff move, hardly play, waste a full year in bench and reserves then be moved on to football scrapheap.
shame but thats the reality of the game today.
hope WHU are going to refund match tickets for both semi final games.

Comment #49I said after West Ham played us at St James that they would struggle this year.
Though they got a draw, they looked dross with no real creativity or quality.
I think finally the media and pundits are having to admit he is a crap manager.

Comment #53Getting Zouma to NUFC was even unrealistic last summer IMO. For quite a while he`s been seen as one of the most promising up-and-coming defenders out there.
In reality I would say it`s as unlikely as it would be for us to sign Eden Hazard a year and a half ago – as they are/were both as promising in their respective position as a youngster can be.

Aye mate loved this bit!
Fans have taken such a dislike to Allardyce that they have written a ten-minute chant entitled “You’re a Manager That Utilises a Certain Style of Football and While Your Record in Gaining Promotion from the Championship Is Laudable You Are Best Suited Elsewhere, and You Know You Are.”

I dont think we will sign anyone this month never mind Cabella. Every bit of transfer news has come to nothing up to now. I am afraid this window will be the same as the last. One loan signing if we are lucky. It will be a year this month since our last permanent signing. Total lack of ambition but hey hoo….i still love NUFC lol.

Totally agree, we never match Liverpool, spurs or everton if we don’t add to our current squad.
I have said from day 1 of this window that we won’t sign anybody and to be honest it’s a complete joke.
