We’ve taken a look at how we were doing two years ago after 22 games played, and this season Newcastle are tracking very closely to two years ago, when we finished in 5th place.
Alan Pardew – can he get Newcastle into top five again?
The following table has the home record first and then the away record – so HW is home win, HD is home draw etc – and HF and HA are home goals against and home goals for.
Here’s a comparison of this season with two seasons ago, and the records are surprisingly similar.
We have six away wins this season, which is terrific and after 22 games played – the points are the same at 36, and the goal difference is very close – it’s now +4 compared to +2
It remains to be seen how well Newcastle can do after the full 38 games played, and we’ll track the results against how we did two years ago to get some idea of how we’re doing.
The total wins this season are 11 against 10 two years ago, the total draws are 3 against 6, and the total losses are 8 against 6 two years ago.
Total goals scored are 32, exactly the same as two years ago, and the goals against are 28 as against 30 – which accounts for the better goal difference of +2.
It’s interesting – if nothing else. 😀
Note: There is a special MJK Sports event coming up like we’d like to publicize. On May 9th there will be an evening with Kevin Keegan at the Lancastrian suite in Gateshead. You can get the details about the event and buy your tickers here.
