Newcastle Could Have Three New Strikers Next Season

Alan Pardew has been singing the praises of he 27-year-old on-loan striker Loic Remy today, and certainly Loic looked in good form in our last game at Upton Park, when he scored a good opportunist goal and went close a couple of other times.

loic remy at west ham

Loic Remy – scoring at West Ham

The squad has just returned back home after four days in  Abu Dhabi for a mid-winter break,  and our next game is at Norwich City on Tuesday night, where hopefully we can get another three points.

Here’s what Alan Pardew had to say about Loic:

“Loic was looking more of a threat.” “He had three or four great chances, which he created for himself.” “He played well, and that bodes well going forward.”

The big question with Remy is can Newcastle sign him permanently in the summer, but it seems the odds of that happening are slim.

Shola Ameobi’s contract runs out at the end of June, and we’d be very surprised if that gets renewed, and when you look at the news recently  on the transfer front, it seems that Newcastle are willing to let Papiss Cisse leave the club, either this month – which we think would be a huge mistake – or in the summer.

So there’s a good chance that our top three strikers – Loic Remy, Papiss Cisse and Shola Ameobi will not be at Newcastle come September.

That’s why we probably should be bringing in another striker other than Luuk de Jong on loan this month.

And whatever happened to Bafe Gomis, unless Newcastle are looking to sign him as a free agent in the summer.

What do you think?

Comments welcome.

‘..I’d love to see laws put in place to prevent people taking profits from all football clubs and to also prevent any change to stadium, name, home kit, badge…without strong strong support from the fans..’.

I think they have laws like that in North Korea. I could be wrong, having never been there.

Maybe their fans are free and easy and voice their dissent on the web and have marches outside their stadiums to show their displeasure as they live in a workers paradise !

Or maybe they just lock people up who protest!

7 v 11 points is leaning more towards my point I think, and when you factor in that we have dropped good points against poor teams at home, it just makes it worse

I am one of those who think we do have a good squad, a nailed on top 6 squad ( everton have 3 on loan players) or if they where there players, id say they have as good a squad as ours

I think our squad is better than man u’s

    even pardew agrees with me

“Loic was looking more of a threat.” “He had three or four great chances, which he created for himself.” “He played well, and that bodes well going forward.”

    created the chances himself,

as we don’t create them for him

Just playing catch-up on the mornings threads. Regarding the Cisse post, it always makes me laugh when I hear players only moving if they are ‘guaranteed’ first team action.
How about working harder in training and turning your form around? That will be the only way to ‘guarantee’ playing time. I like Cisse, but like most other footballers they need to have agents and advisors who can put an arm around their shoulders and tell them to buck their ideas up and stop feeling sorry for themselves when things don’t go their way. Same could be said for my favourite attacking player, Ben Arfa. If that lad had a quarter of the work ethic that renaissance man Williamson has, he’d be world class.
There’s an old saying: if you’re having bad luck, work harder.

    It’s nothing like north korea.

Look at listed buildings, even if you own them you must follow strict laws with what can and cannot be changed to maintain the historical accuracy and importance of these features of certain communities.

Surely a football club, most now have over 100 years of strong tradition, should also be protected the same way as they have equal, if not greater attachment to a community than a row of terraced houses from 1850.

I think willo has worked very hard since dropped last year to cut out all his mistakes that crept in (or as many as can be expected) and to also try and be more comfortable passing the ball out from the back, even if it’s just simple to colo or debuchy, or into tiote.

I hope that’s true mate, I’m very concerned for next season….Cabaye, Colo, Remy (I don’t rate), HBA and Shola (at least he makes up squad number) I can’t see much of new signings coming in, especially signings from the continent who’ll take time to settle in

Although some feel sorry for Percy he has 7 years left on his contract, can’t see MA sacking him and paying out for his contract and wrongful dismissal, he has a stronger hand now to go to the owner and ask for new players…..but he’s spineless and won’t because then he really will be judged

Williamson playing his best football at the moment – top of his game.
Keeps it going could get a surprise England call-up rest of central defenders either not getting a game or crap at the moment except for Cahill
HBA – class act -but – trying to hard, needs to get his head up and know when to run/dribble and when to pass

Well come this summer we have an extra 20-30 (depending on league placing and tv time…i guess be around 25 mark). We have made a slight profit or broke even last couple years so we should have 25 extra in cash to spend.

Surely there is no excuse what so ever to not spend in the summer, that’s the final test I think for mike ashley, even with those who support him.

but Williamson gets 90 mins of football most weeks and does ok

HBA gets sent on with 10 mins to get a point or win the game,
words from pardew , will be like er , attack them, be good

he has 10 mins or less to make things happen, how much preasure is there on him??

and bare in mind, he is our top assister ( minutes played v assists)

We are as good as safe from the drop, wont get into Champions League, dont want to qualify for the the other mickey mouse competition as we may have to spend some money on strengthening the squad.
Very cynical view i know but this is the reallity of being a Toon fan, watching the club being run by this mob of conmen.
Thats my point of view and it hurts like hell to feel this way after following my team since late 50s.

Willo took his chance because of injuries and the debacle of MYM against Lukaku!! How can Cisse find form sitting on the bench and being bought on when we go long as we have no plan B or when we decide to sit back and soak up pressure as we are winning

Wasn’t long ago the manager came out and said Cisse looked really good in training, in his last start he scored….usual scapegoating. Last time HBA started in the league he was best player on the pitch and got 3 assists all be it against 9 men Stoke but he looked very good before the reds…..how long are we going to blame these players!! When these guys move on and start producing for other clubs whilst the likes of Cabella miraculously drop out of form the clammed will start, if only we kept so in so, get rid of Cabella!!! Round in circles

Catchy – I’m glad you know the difference between working hard with the ball and without the ball, I find it hilarious when ppl say Ronaldo works hard, even Gary Neville has said he is the laziest player without the ball

Catchy, I don’t BUT if Benny grafted more in training (he’s carrying a bit of timber, right?) and knuckled down and just got on with it, he’d improve. His ability us unquestioned but his decision making is absolutely terrible as is his work ethic.
Williamson is no where near good enough for where we want to be, but he’s shut me up these last few months as he has clearly learnt a lot from those around him and aerially he is fantastic (except when he goes up for corners!)
Williamson also has rapidly improved his own decision making. He used to get the ball and hump it up, regardless. But i’ve noticed recently he is making shorter passes, getting his head up when he receives the ball too. Against the Hammers he even produced a class bit of skill down by the RB position in the second half when he dummied a pass before turning inside the attacking player. It just shows how far he’s come.

The best players are not necessarily the most gifted, skilfull ones. Every team needs the infuential, hard working, never give up type. The Keegan type, Rob Lee, even Barton & Nolan were all grafters who never gave less than 100% and didn’t accept any less from anyone else around them. It’s infectious when you play next to someone like that, and as a supporter it’s all you really want to see from a player. Total commitment to the team.

Now Catchy, let me ask you this, who do you think gives their very best for the team every performance: Williamson or Ben Arfa?

    I said yesterday

HBA cabaye and marv will go this summer,

3 very good attacking options (IMO)

and as far as profit at the end of the season, we should have a huge profit, along with the 30+ mil there will be money from the 3 players above

then the curve ball is , every other team has the same amount (there about ) and will spend on players and wages
    we wont
we may be left with scraps

    our toon,

I think its because I have eyes 😉 and I use them,, I don’t just sit a read what others say, to much back slapping, to much bullying ,

I also think people assume to much, this player is good so he must be good at everything,

good players look good because the manager lets them do what they are best at, he will be in a position on the field that the manager will exploit his talent, and build the team around that,

we play to many players out of position and wonder why they look bad, then we start to slate them,

Jonas for example, he came as a dribbling LW, and did ok at it, pardew turned him into a DMC, OC he can do it,

then you have an obertan, who has no footballing talent at all,

I agree with you mate, I haven’t got carried away by the west ham result….we beat a team that is struggling so badly with injuries and we couldn’t finish them off which is frustrating, they had Matty Taylor playing at FB lol. The first half was very pleasing and the 2nd half was shocking!! What concerns me the most is that Anita repeatedly gets replaced which makes the team look disjointed!!

Against Arsenal at home the biggest problem in my eyes was that Cabaye wanted to drop to deep, picking the ball up constantly around the defenders. This changed against Citeh and West Ham which was better….does anyone think that was Cabayes way of saying he could replace artery in that role for arsenal?
