We had mentioned earlier today why everything had gone so quiet on the Bafe Gomis front this month, after we bid around £9M for the Lyon striker in August, and he’s now six months older – still scoring goals in France this season, and available for about one third of that summer fee, and with his contract running out at the end of June.
Bafe Gomis – to visit Inter Milan
And there’s news today for Sport Direct News that Alan Pardew is interested in bidding again for the 28 year-old, but why we haven’t bid for him in January seems strange – at least to us it does,.
But the news is that the French striker will be visiting Italy for talks with Inter Milan tomorrow, and the top Italian club may just snap him up at a bargain basement price.
And the news is that Inter Milan President Erick Thohir recently changed his mind on a swap deal for Juventus forward Mirko Vucinic in exchange for 27 year-old Inter midfielder Fredy Guarin, and now he’s after Gomis.
So it seems that unless Newcastle get in there and make a quick bid to get Gomis to Newcastle, he could well be playing his football in Italy before the end of the month.
And with Loic Remy, Shola Ameobi and Papiss Cisse all potentially leaving the club in the summer, we would have thought that getting one or two strikers in this month would have been a priority.
But it seems that Newcastle with Joe Kinnear in the lead, have other plans this month.
Comments welcome.

As Bills if oft fond of commenting on, there is an area of English law that prevents people from defaming or misrepresenting someone’s views in public that could potentially harm their credibility – it is called libel.
What you have written @100 is a libellous statement and I personally would like you to retract it.
I would, of course, like to point out that since the meeting in labour club in which it was stated that Time4Change were holding a march, which was largely backed by the Mike Ashley Out Campaign, MAOC actually saw their support surge from 600 followers to nearly 4000 – representing the anger that was felt by Mike Ashley’s mismanagement of the club.
NUST has seen a downturn in membership in this time, because perhaps they missed a trick in the summer by not openly embracing the aims and objectives of MAOC and T4C but if they can channel into what is now the overwhelming opinion of Newcastle United supporters – that Mike Ashley is not good for the club and the sooner he leaves the better – then NUST could well see an upturn in their own fortunes.
It would be a very logical extension that by tapping into this opinion, TF and The Mag are actually best representing what is the opinion of most NUFC supporters as you will be unable to produce subscription numbers for either publication, nor will you be able to find any quote directly attributable to Mark Jensen.
As MacToon himself stated, Mark Jensen did not intimate these feelings when I was speaking to him last night at NUST’s AGM last night, nor did Michael Martin. In fact, both men, and Norman Watson, seemed very encouraged by the progress that MAOC and T4C have made in recent months and wished us all the best in our endeavours.
If we were directly, and negatively impacting upon their commercial interests would this have been the case?
Also, I remembered how you were once a pompous flag bearer about being a NUST member yet you did not attend their AGM last night. Disappointing.

Comment #123mac- Don’t judge others by your standards. I think you’ll find The Mag and Mark’s – Tyne Talk, will be leading on a football agenda from issue. 287 onwards. In the real world falling sales need to be addressed. He recognises the need to differentiate.
Time will tell.

I totally agree with you re: fanzines forcing the t4c down peoples throats….I would actually go further than that and say that there were far too many articles in the fanzines about finances. I love football, but the financial side of things bores me, to be honest.
I used to be a regular contributor to true faith, I’ve had a fair few articles in there over the years. The crack is, if you have an idea for an article, you put it to the editor (Mr Martin) who then oks it, he might give it a title and then set you a word limit for the article. But if you don’t have an idea for an article, he will give you something to write about. Although I had an idea what to write about most of the time, occasionally I would let the editor give me something to write about…and every single time that happened, the article given to me would be anti Ashley. I’m no Ashley apologist, but when every other article in a fanzine is anti Ashley, it starts to wear thin.
The independent fanzines have as much of an agenda and editorial stance as the red tops.

What my standards have to do with this I have no idea and as if you know what my standards are!!!
You are friends with “Mark” Jensen then? He has told you this himself or do you wish to post where he said it “is because fans don’t want to be force fed T4C propaganda.”?
