Things at the moment seem to have come to a grinding halt in the transfer window, with no deals close, and it could even be that we see no new players coming into the club this month.
Remy Cabella – moving to Newcastle this summer?
Here seems to be the current position of some of our targets:
- Remy Cabella – Newcastle are still negotiating with Montpellier, but the 23 year-old Frenchman will not be coming in this month – although we hope Newcastle can make a deal now to get the lad in over the summer.
- Luuk de Jong – the deal is in abeyance until Borussia Monchengladbach get a replacement striker in, although they seem to be well stocked at the moment with strikers, and would hardly miss Luuk, who has come on in the last few minutes of games as a sub – but we suppose it’s a safety first position, in case one of their strikers is injured.
- Bafe Gomis – we’re surprised that Newcastle have not moved for the striker after we bid £9M for him in the summer, and he’s worth around £3M now, and today he’s meeting with Inter-Milan and could sign for them. Have we lost interest in this player because Bafe is too old at 28?
- Yohan Cabaye – there is news that Yohan may be having second thoughts about wanting to move to PSG, and if that’s correct the danger of him moving out of Newcastle this month seems to be diminishing – which is good news for fans,
Those are the main transfer targets we know about – but we suppose it’s still possible that Joe Kinnear could shock us all, and bring in somebody new before a week tomorrow.
We hope so – because Newcastle have to show they are more ambitious than just wanting to be a top ten club in England – because that’s not good enough.
Note: There is a special MJK Sports event coming up like we’d like to publicize. On May 9th there will be an evening with Kevin Keegan at the Lancastrian suite in Gateshead. You can get the details about the event and buy your tickers here.
