PSG manager Laurent Blanc has a very bad habit of talking to the press and mentioning other clubs’ players he wants – and today he has talked again to the press and said that both Newcastle’s Yohan Cabaye and Roma’s Miralem Pjanic are still targets of the Paris club.
Miralem Pjanic – wanted by PSG
Blanc says that the 23 year-old Roma midfielder could be an alternative to Yohan Cabaye, who PSG will have to pay an awful lot of money for, and certainly over £20Mif Mike Ashley has his way – which he usually does.
This is the latest the PSG manager has said about wanting other clubs’ players:
“Yes, Pjanic is interesting,” “He could be a good alternative to Cabaye.” “They are both targets for PSG; they are very technical players who have the same profile. If a midfielder comes this winter, I’ll be very happy.”
PSG are also interested in Juventus 20 year-old star midfielder Paul Pogba, who has been a huge success at the Italian club after he left Manchester United in the summer of 2012, after refusing to sign a new deal at the Red Devils.
But their plan is to go for the 20 year-old star in the summer, not in January, and that’s one of the reasons Cabaye is having second thoughts about PSG, since come September they are likely to have some top class midfielders in the side, and competition for places will be huge.
And the PSG need for a central midfielder had increased since 18 year-old French star Adrien Rabiot was injured but the new news on the youngster is good, as Blanc delivered an update:
“He has lateral ligament damage,” “There is rehabilitation work to do, but no operation.” “The news is very positive. He will be training in the beginning or middle of next week.”
The Roma club on hearing of Blanc’s comments put out a tweet on their Twitter account:
“AS Roma would like to stress that there are no talks underway regarding the exit of Miralem Pjanic. The player is not for sale?”
It seems if PSG are to sign a player in January they will have to pay out some big money, and even if they can meet the Newcastle price for Cabaye, which is unlikely, Yohan Cabaye seems to be wary of moving to Paris, at least in January just before the World Cup.
Whether that will extend to the summer we don’t know, as it’s obvious that some top clubs will be after him this summer, especially if he stars in the World Cup, and if that’s the case his transfer fee will go even higher.
Comments welcome.

Comment #2Christ I wish clubs would just bid for a player rather than talking about bidding for a player
Blanc has had this track of repeat for nearly a year now and no bid had been made for Cabs clearly someone at PSG disagrees with his evaluation of wor Yo

Comment #3Mr Cabayes market value must have doubled over the past month now that he is showing what a good player he is.
He underwhelmed me for a large chunk of his time here.
Surely in today’s market he is worth £20m however, Arsenal baulked at £12m in the summer.
Either way, it’s a win win situation for us.

Comment #8Blanc should realize by now that his ploy to unsettle Cabs have failed and he will have to put his money where his mouth is if he wants him at PSG.

Comment #9well I’ve tried to do it with the cricket team, what happens days still drag slow
next i tried with murrey and he goes out so it’s still the same slow days with little to talk about.
now it’s the turn of the GB winter Olympic team who are said to be in their best form ever for a winter Olympic and a sport where i can easily think of the POSITIVES is just what i need.
the reason i I’m saying this is that with Newcastle at the minute it’s very hard to get any positive thoughts and it could be like that the rest of this season.
the reason is quite simple, if we don’t manage to bring in any players this January, newspapers will start writing masses of stories that sound negative.
things such as
newcastle left with just cisse inside or is even he off.
champions league cab bye newcastle.
Ashley linked with selling the club
Ashley buying rangers.
