PSG Have Significant Obstacles To Sign Yohan Cabaye

The French Daily L’Equipe is reporting today that PSG have significant obstacles to overcome if they are to sign Newcastle midfielder Yohan Cabaye, and we reported yesterday that the Newcastle midfielder could be having a change of heart about wanting to move to the French club.

Yohan Cabaye – having second thoughts

We had reported earlier this week that an injury to 18 year-old midfielder Adrien Rabiot had caused the Paris club to increase their interest in all of their midfield targets, with Cabaye thought to be manager Laurent Blanc’s number one choice.

L‘Equipe is reporting today that PSG President Nasser al-Khelaifi has significant obstacles to overcome if they are to sign the 28 year-old French International, who has been in superb form for Newcastle this season.

We think at least two of those obstacles are the price Mike Ashley has put on Cabaye and is north of £20M, and the second is that Yohan is not at all sure that moving to PSG, where he will have significant competition for a midfield place – is a good thing at this time in his career.

It could just be that Cabaye is having second thoughts – certainly about moving in January just before the World Cup in Brazil this summer –  and hopefully about moving at all from Newcastle United.

We certainly hope so.

Borussia Monchengladbach want to find cover for de Jong before letting him go, how about loaning them Sammy?

I would sooner Cabs go abroad than play for another team in the Pl. As time goes on even bringing de jong in on loan is not good enough.

I read on one of these posts that he wouldn’t want to move cos he’d compete with Pogba, Matuidi etc but surely Matuidi is a DM and Pogba is a passer and athlete? Cabaye would be more concerned about competing more with playmakers like the great Javier Pastore or even Moura or Zlatan if he drops deeper than Cavani? Pastore and Moura also have desires to make the Argentina and Brazil teams so that’s potentially harder…
