De Jong On Way To Have Newcastle Medical

Some good news for a change for Newcastle fans with reports that Borussia Monchengladbach striker Luuk de Jong is ready to undergo a medical before what we expect to be a loan move to Newcastle for the rest of the season.

luuk de jong

Luuk de Jong – to take medical

While we are not convinced Luuk can make the grade at Newcastle, it is good that we get this deal tied up so that the Newcastle higher-ups can concentrate fully on bringing in a replacement for Yohan Cabaye before the end of the week.

This news broke while I was out taking my new dog Milo (a boxer mix and a rescue dog) for his hour walk – and my son Neil called me to tell me the news — and t’s good news since we’ve been after him for a good few weeks now.

And the news broke via a post on the Borussia Monchengladbach’s official Twitter account:

“Luuk de Jong (did) not train today with the Foals.”  “The attacker is just on the way to the medical check to Newcastle.”

Luuk is a good age at only 23 but he hasn’t has any starts in the Bundesliga this season and in 13 sub appearances he has failed to score.

Bur on the positive side this lad will be very motivated at Newcastle and he has a lot to prove, and that’s good for both him and Newcastle, and we really hope he can do a job for Newcastle, through the end of this season.

And if he can, the news is that we’ll be able to sign him permanently in the summer for £8.5M.

What do you think?

Question: which game(s) did Cabaye miss in the beginning of the season?

Find any quotation that states that Mike Ashley wants to be in the Champions League. You will not find one.

I forgot, had we signed anyone last summer we’d have went into our overdraft facility…hmmm perhaps any losses could have been offset by the record breaking television deal that we will be receiving?

None so blind as those who cannot see. If you’re not convinced at this stage then I am afraid we have nothing left to discuss. I have no time for those who still despite being faced with strong empirical evidence that disputes their faith.

Because that is all you people have left – blind faith.

Even a great mind like yours will realise that there is more ££ for CL plus more exposure for SD.

Our commercial revenue too will improve significantly etc.

We broke even last year, and now we get an extra 30mil from TV….so we have 30mil profit in theory, as we haven’t spent more this year, if anything less.

Why spend a fortune to get champs league when we get plenty exposure in the prem league and even with spending a fortune we won’t be favourites for the champs league.

Would rathe have Ba back than sign DeJong on loan. What is the point in signing players on loan? Permanent signings we need not loan signings.

Is faith not the only thing we have left, Ciaran? As supporters we have very little impact on the game or our clubs these days. With regards to an absence of “i want to get into the CL” comments by MA, do you have evidence of a “i don’t want to enter into the CL” comment? Thought not.

This lad has a chance to succeed, he is a decent player from the bits i’ve seen…his situation in germany is based on his manager sticking two fingers up to the chairman for buying a player he didn’t want in his style of play.

i have to say you toon fans are putting a brave face on losing your best player although having de jong as a replacement is like for like and i can see him and tiote bossing the midfield in the same way that won those games against the big clubs when you had cabs.

and i have to say as a chelsea supporter life is more fun and a lot less stressful i would recommend everyone to find a second team to support and stop going to matches and buying merchandising its the only way to get rid of that fat f***ing rotten c***

You are right on that one and also there are very quotes from Ashley on anything.

He just doesn’t do them which is really funning as so many fans on here like to state with almost god like certainty that they know what he is saying and thinking! I remember one fan saying in the same sentence that he is always telling lies and never talks to us! The fan must have developed thought transference which only he and Ashley have.

So it would actually take MA to come out and say that he didn’t want CL football for you to think he doesn’t want CL football? You lack any capacity for coming to a conclusion based on the evidence of how he has run the club in the past 6 years? You actually need a comment to confirm this?

I think Ashley has measured the intelligence of our fan base perfectly. Unfortunately.

we have always looked better in 433 but pardew is naturally over cautious so he’ll probably put out a very predictable ” containing ” team when Norwich are there for the taking.

Good Afternoon lads. I do not care what anyone else says but we are not a selling club. Mike Ashley did the right thing to sell him at £19-21m. With his age and his on top form so that is the most we could of gotten from him. We have only sold Carroll, Enrique where Carroll situation no one would dare to refuse that offer and Enrique wanted ambition and moved on.

Now, if we get Clement Grenier in, and Cabella agreed to a summer contract or here before that, that would be perfect! but if you remember, we were supposed to get Sissoko in summer as reports suggested, but he came earlier. So, if we manage to get another 2 transfers in excluding Luuk De Jong, I consider this window a success.

Look forward, move forward forget the past and think about the future!

    wolfshead@toon

Luuk De Jong is a striker, not a midfielder.. You may be getting confused with his brother Siem De Jong

can we really count his time at bush-hair munchingballsack? He was prolific enough before that, but he has never really had any sort of chance since his move. You said yourself a week or so ago that you like dutch players due to the way they tend to play. What if he turns out to be another RVP 😀

    How great are we eh!!

We play for 18 months without owning a goal scoring striker but have an amazing midfield maestro who can put the ball on a sixpence!!

The day we announce the sale of the Maestro – is the day we look to bring in a second “On Loan” striker who hasn’t scored in 7 months. Is there any possibility that the players brought in could actually resemble what is needed – WHEN ITS NEEDED!!

Just a quick one Ciaran , you have said that Cabaye was the best player you have seen in the last 10 years .
But and a big but have you actually seen him play ,as I know you do not attend our games due to the hierarchy .
Such a shame considering you live in Newcastle.
He was a very good player and he was better looking in real life than on them Fifa games you play on.
I think the word Mug springs to mind.
On a happier note ,hope everything goes well with De Jongs medical today and get the lad settled in for this weekend.

And if your grandmother had testicles she would cease to be your grandmother.

Forget the past? If we signed X player? If we did this, if we did that?

We’ve taken 28 days to sign 1 confidence shot striker on loan and you think we will bring 2 more in 4 days?

Wish I had your optimism…well actually I don’t as it is less optimism and more mindless fantasy.

De Jong doesn’t mean hoofball…Giroud is good in the air and holds up well and arsenal don’t play hoofball. What it gives is an option, we can play nice football but if we do need to go long as no short pass on we have a good chance to keep the ball, not just give it straight away.

I’d personally play de jong in the middle with remy and gouff either side, would be my ideal choice.

Bollance – Good to read your posts. I used to spend a good deal of time reading through the blog, sifting the wheat from the chaff. It remains a good blog if you skip some posts. The self deluding types are convinced they have something to add- more often than not it’s just to insult. What I reasonably look for is the extent and depth of views on a subject and to raise begging questions.

It’s always sad to lose a player of the calibre of Cabaye and having to consign the shirt to the wardrobe. Double whammy is that I am unable to make the Norwich game. Hope we get De Jong, Grenier and Cabella through the door but I am not holding my breath.

There is nothing more I would love than to go to SJP on a forthnightly basis and watch the team I love. But because on a point of principle I choose not to do this, does not make me a lesser fan.

Why is this a difficult concept for you to grasp?

Its a good move, the player has a
chance to prove himself, if he doesn’t
    we have not wasted £8.5M
Is it not a pity we did not bring Oberton
in on loan? We can not now get rid of him.
Loans can be advantageous to the club.
I am tempted to go down this road with
HBA and Marveaux, but I’ll leave it for

You did not have to talk about family related instances over the internet. What has my grandmother got to do with you at all? nothing.

You stay negative, say negative stuff you are most likely to expect negative stuff in your life and comments thrown back at you. Just because you are negative, does not give you any right to single out toon fans which are staying optimistic. I am sure you will forget this day we sold Cabaye when we strengthen and bring in better prospects that out-perform Cabaye by a mile.

It is not fantasy, fantasy is fans wanting Cabaye to stay and forget his Champions League dreams with a team that has ambition and that aims for cups. I am a fan that is set on reality, we will use the money from Cabaye, if not now then that money combined with what we will get at the end of the season. Mike Ashley is doing the correct thing to spend money that the club has itself as he does not want to throw in his own money as we have witnessed many times unless its an emergency case.

Brighten up and stop getting families linked into this, be mature.
