Pardew – We Are Giving Luuk De Jong Chance To Earn Contract

Alan Pardew says Newcastle are giving Luuk  de Jong a chance through the end of the season, and the Dutchman is in Newcastle right now, and should have taken his medical today.

Luuk arrived at Newcastle Airport from Amsterdam today – and should be moving to the club on a loan deal until the end of the season, and if he does well, he could be signed permanently in the summer for around £8.5M.

This is what the Newcastle manager said tonight to Sky Sports, about the 23 year-old Dutch International striker:

“He had a terrific spell in Holland, we were really keen on him at that moment,” “He went to Germany and it has not quite worked out for him for whatever reason, so we are kind of giving him a chance.”

“The platform for him is to come, play as well as he can and see if he can earn a contract here. He has got the credentials, he is a big target man with a good technique, he is the type of player our fans like.”

With Loic Remy being sent off tonight at Norwich, and therefore missing the next three games, Luuk could be on the bench on Saturday in the home against Sunderland, and he may even make his Newcastle debut in the second half of that game.

“I was obviously on the phone to the powers that be, particularly Joe and Mike and Lee Charnley and Graham Carr.

“Let’s get moving and see what we can get because we obviously had one or two targets we had earmarked if he went.

    “We’re chasing those down.”

“We have to use that money wisely now – like we did with Andy Carroll.

“That summer we brought in Yohan and a couple of others that took us forward.

“That is how we will have to break into the Champions League and use this money to good effect and make us better.”

What i don’t understand – more than anything – is when Geordies can’t spell the word “Howay” correctly. “Haway” is the mackem spelling.

    Sort it out lads.

Atleast Alan is already used to being let down, that should surely soften the blow.

Cabaye out – De jong in – A player who done well in Holland who couldn’t hit a barn door which is a step up in Germany.

Have to say typical Toon style which does not give me a glimmer of confidence.

Come the Summer what a mess we will find ourselves in. If this is Joes track record.

Out of contracts – Ben Arfa, Shola. Gosling maybe?

    Cisse looking likely to leave.

What must are new recruits be thinking?

How can a club progress like this?

You’d think if they were really determined to spend the Cabaye money, they would have maybe signed a replacement before they let him go.

    Just an idea like.

Now everybody and their dog knows we’ve got 20 million in the bank.

Smells a little fishy if you ask me.

I feel sorry for Pardew, it’s obvious he wants more signings like the rest of us. I just hope Joke-in-ere and Ashley deliver.

Toon-Prodigy – HBA is out of contract in the summer? Surely that can’t be right or else we would have heard a hell lot more about it and clubs coming in for him.

    JP,

    I should of explained better.

This will bring him into his last yr which means he can do as he pleases now. He can talk to clubs come the summer and we won’t get a nut. Or he could run his contract down.

His place on the bench at the moment will give him every incentive to leave. Not to mention the world cup.

Clubs normally tie players down well before now who they want to keep, I think Ben Arfa will be off very soon.

We didn’t miss cabaye much tonight apart from free kicks. we were desperately unlucky in front of goal, we hit both posts and the bar aswell as ruddy making a few good saves. shouldve been 7-1 to be fair and honest. Our passing was much improved as well as our pressing/closing the the opposition down & tackling
