Newcastle Defender Could Be Next Out Of The Door

12:38 am, Tuesday, January 28th, 2014 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 15 Comments

The pending sale of Yohan Cabaye to PSG could have an impact on the game on Tuesday night against Norwich, not only because our best player who was in great form and scored five goals in his last seven games for Newcastle will not play, but the Cabaye sale could also have an adverse affect on some of our players – much like the Andy Carroll sale did when we lost the  to Fulham 1-0, two days after Andy was sold to Liverpool.

Steven Taylor – could join Norwich City?

And there’s some speculation that Steven Taylor could even be on his way to Norwich City before Saturday rolls around.

The Norwich manager, Chris Hughton, is not adding to the speculation however, and he had this to say in the press today:

“We are at the stage now where I am sure you are going to tell me quite a few names.” “What we have done is to try to make ourselves as active and busy as possible, and amongst that there will always be names which are bounded about.”

“The large majority we always find have no substance and some will be because of agents asking questions or names that have been put to us.”

“We can only do what is best to do, and that is to let you know when anything is fact.” “Steven Taylor is another one, probably because of my association with Newcastle, and again it would be the rumor mill going around.”

“We do make phone calls and do make enquiries to see if players are going to be available or not and amongst that there is always going to be some speculation, but there are certainly no facts.”

“We are looking for players who will improve the squad and we would definitely like to add to it.” “If there is any way we can improve what we have this week, then we are working very hard to be able to do that.”

“There is a good feel after the win over Hull.” “We are at home again and we will use our great support again to hopefully get a result.

“Irrespective of who the opposition is, it is an opportunity for us because we want to build on our last result.”

Newcastle need to win at Carrow Road tonight, but that will now be more difficult with Yohan out, and it’s a good question as to what the team will be.

And  we’re sure Alan Pardew had prepared the side assuming Cabaye would play in the withdrawn striker role, as he’s done for the last several games.

Let us know how you think the game will go tonight.

Hollywood Taylor. Amusing at times, but I can just watch Lee Evans for that.

Relegation next season, calling it already, and I’m usually an anti doom and gloomer, but right now, I can’t help it, this would be like Atletico Madrid selling Diego Costa right now, and god help their fans if they do

I really don’t think we could have held onto Cabs. He wanted away and Tbf his ambitions which are matched by the fans are not matched by the owners I.e champions league.
Our model is to grow organically thereby for the foreseeable future we will be a feeder club. I know it’s frustrating when we are so near and yet so far…….. It’s called a lack of ambition from MA. I suspect we’ll be a good mid league team for some years unless MA wants otherwise.

It would have been comforting if we’d heard the words uttered by Chris Hughton (We are looking for players who will improve the squad and we would definitely like to add to it.” “If there is any way we can improve what we have this week, then we are working very hard to be able to do that.”).

But what did we hear? Not a fkng dickybird. The conniving bustards have shown what they’re about – ripping the souls out of the 52000 who’ve turned up to home games and those of us who support the club from a distance.

Ashley may have a grand plan and ut would be nice if he just shared it, tell it like it is instead of perpetuating thus biannual charade of counting the pennies as a once great club is ruined by his contempt, ignorance and negligence.

The sooner there’s enough in the pot to let him tame what he’s owed and pi$$ off the better!

Please fellow Toon fans, read what I have written below and respond.

I just want to say that by selling Cabaye, the main player which the team is playing around will make Pardew turn back to the negative, hoof, defensive counter attack football which saw us nearly getting relegated if it wasnt for Marveaux. If Marvo was getting assists and creating good chances when playing football like that, imagine him in a number 10 behind the likes of Remy.

I would like to remind fans that if it wasnt for Marveaux’s marvellous creativity when he played last couple of games which he finally got the chance to when coming back from injury, we would have been relegated, no joke.

Now, if Cabaye goes, we will go back to the low, defensive football which saw us get nearly getting relegated, mark my words. If you remember, when Cabaye signed here gave his first interview indicating how Pardew promised free flowing attacking football. Well now that is near anough gone since his been sold now.

Also statistics do not lie, over 60% games lost without him playing, did you not see last season? God forbid it ever happens again. He’s just letting players like Marveaux and Ben Arfa rot on bench and reserves.

Just remember, look back at the team play of last season, you cannot blame it all on injury. Why do you think Anita finally gets to start? He is a very good player but Pardew simply doesnt like having technical and flair players on the pitch. He would rather have the whole West Ham team and play Hoof then what he is playing with us.

Unless we have a plan to sign players like Clement Grenier, Remy Cabella and Luuk, also not selling the likes of Marveaux then it would be good business, but how Pardew will cooperate his tactics? we will know in the future games.

This is why Pardew will go sooner then later.

  • 10 toonakron // Jan 28, 2014 at 1:04 AM

  • 11 manxpie // Jan 28, 2014 at 1:04 AM

spread your exactly right mate and i know it was gonna happen just the fact no players brought in 1st boils my piss lol
and this ashley doesn’t understand football is wearing very thin now he’s been here over 5 years and he still doesn’t understand that the manager needs the players at the right time and the fans want to see a competitive team it’s a joke like

    Turkish
Interesting post, I’d have Anita / Marveaux slot in where Cabaye plays. Though if I am truthful I doubt Marv will even make the bench. Any chance we can pull Abied from loan back???
    Manx
Agreement in principle means that nothing has been formally agreed / Legally but will be subject to medical being satisfactory etc

  • 13 Spreadthetoon // Jan 28, 2014 at 1:10 AM

Right I predict that we move no further up the league and end mid table this season unless we have a couple of break through players come in this Jan starting with Cabella now I ‘m just dreaming …….no chance

Wahey! Hughton engaging in destabilising mind-games by unsettling Taylor before the match?? He’s come a long way since he lead us out of the Championship and Chris doesn’t mind getting his bib dirty now.
Hatem can hardly be disappointed Cab’s gone lets hope he and Anits kick ass tonight.
