If I Score Against Sunderland – It Would Be Dream Come True

Luuk de Jong has given his first interview for nufcTV, and anybody who has a subscription – it’s certainly worth taking a look – and he seems a really nice guy and Luuk of course is very aware that he has to prove himself at Newcastle through the rest of the season.

Newcastle United Unveil New Signing Luuk de Jong

Luuk de Jong – first thing we have to do is get him to smile

Luuk was interviewed by Anthony Marshall, the Newcastle United Managing Editor and when asked if he knew anything about the rather important Sunderland game on Saturday – this is what he had to say:

“People have told me already about the Sunderland game – it’s a really big game – and I like playing big games and it’s nice to start a game like that.

“We have to win this game, otherwise we cannot walk around the streets.”  “I will be happy to score – but if we win the game I’ll be happy too, but if I can get a goal that would be a dream come true.”

It’s very likely that Luuk will get some playing time on Saturday against an improving Sunderland side, and he made it clear throughout  the interview he had come to Newcastle to play games.

Luuk talked about visiting St. James’ Park six years ago as a 17 year-old, and said he was amazed with the atmosphere generated by the fans – he aint seen nothing yet (as they say).

We hope Luuk can regain his form by getting playing time through the end of the season, and you have to remember you don’t become a bad player overnight.

The thing that was against Luuk in Germany was that the Borussia Monchengladbach coach Lucien Favre just didn’t rate him, and didn’t play him.

And that gets a bit hard when you are in that kind of situation – whoever you are.

    Marveaux to Nantes potentially

Are you allowed to say this as I thought Kets was the fountain, although mostly dry most times, of all Marveaux knowledge?

Our Toon, Puppet or no Puppet, he has got us high up the league and our brand of football is attractive. He has to be given credit for this.

Given that he is a Geordie wouldn’t you think that Armstrong would be selected as there can be no better motivator than to play against the virus carriers ?

    Slank,
Oops, my bad…. Can we pretend that I never posted it!!

I think we will need to send someone round to Kets house and make sure he doesn’t do anything silly if we do allow Marveaux to leave!!

Oh and Luuk, if you don’t score a horse might get punched, no pressure mate. (Disclaimer – no animals were harmed in this terrible and insensitive joke)

We need HBA to be on top form or we might have to settle for a point. Unless the thugs (Bardsley and Cattermole) decide to help us a bit and get sent off – can only hope

Don’t understand why we are trying to get rid of one of our best players and keep people like Shola and Gosling. Pardew has got no idea.

    Slank,
Selecting 16 old Armstrong is crazy. If we had built the squad in a sensible and balanced fashion Arma would be nowhere near the 1st team.

If we are winning comfortably maybe 10mins off the bench to give him a taste, but no more.

We are playing the same stuff as when we finished 5th, question is why did he change it last year? I wasn’t referring to progress of this season but merely responding to the claims of fans feeling sorry for Percy because JFK is DOF and that Cabaye left, he is well aware of what he signed up for!!

we still don’t have a brand of football

unless keeping the ball and shoot on site is a brand,, for me you might as well play long ball football

He will be so distraught that he will be lost for words. That might not be such a bad thing so better not send anyone around just in case!

Shola and Gosling are out of contract in the summer, no one in there right mind would sign them permanently now.

I still think pardew is being forced out, that’s why there will only be loan deals done,,

don’t you find it strange that 2 windows in a row this has happened,,

pardew is digging his heels in

re Armstrong being selected. Dont we want squad rotation? maybe this is the start of it since we have nothing to play for, a couple of injuries and a no.10 spot up for grabs. the more players who want to play on the bench the better and the likes of shola can sit at home and watch it. i bet if armstrong got on he’d chase everything and not do that much but at least get stuck in. sholas been covered for for too long. goslings been unlucky with injuries but should be pushing for a place by now.

Catchy, that’s crap. What was wrong with the football we played the other night . Do we have to brand it? We criticised him for 442 and long ball ( fairly ) , and when he changes it and we end up “best of the rest” ( so far ) , fans criticise him again ? I was livid again re the FA Cup and believe in fair criticism – but I wonder were his hands tied from above. I am appalled by Ashleys lack of ambition, and Pardew has to play ball to keep his job, but he is making a good go of it, and he is a shrewd politician when he needs to be.

Our Toon, we are playing much better football now IMO. Two years ago the players were not moving the ball around as fast. Tiote and Anita have improved and remy and Gouffran have added technical ability. And Sissoko has added power and pace. This is a better team IMO and we have to give the guy credit. And believe me , I criticised him from Brighton onwards last year.

It was just a thought about Armstrong. I haven’t actually seen him play but he seems to impress all those who have.

At the moment the alternatives are Shola (who has a good track record against them), Cisse if he us fit, likewise Goofy or Luuk de Jong who would be thrown to the wolves but could be a hero there ever afterwards. I’m assuming Remy will still be banned.

Arma shouldn’t even be on the bench for such a game…let’s hope common sense prevails.

Poyet was a very intelligent footballer and is now a very intelligent coach and in a nutshell Pardew ain’t… so we can safely assume we’ll be out manoeuvred tactically.

It’s therefore down to the lads on the park to do their thing… IMO we have to put out the most attack minded team we can muster and mine would be

    krul
    Debuchy williams mbiwa santon
    tiote sissoko Anita
    HBA LDJ Gouffy

we have get up the scummy b@stards from the off and trample all over them

I disagree mate, as I’ve said Percy has a 7 yrs remaining on his contract, not many managers would accept the wages that he’s on and if sacked he will get more money for wrongful dismissal plus the owner having to pay off his 7 yr contract. I think you give Percy to much credit. Percy refuses to stand up instead he is happy to be dictated to and then peddles that dross to us. I’ve mentioned Poyet, he stood up to the board and threatened to walk if he didn’t get things his way!! I refuse to credit anyone who has no BACKBONE

    Slank,
I get what you are saying, but it is heaping unnecessary pressure on a kid who is still learning his game. Who knows though, if he got a goal he could go on from there, but a bad game could equally set him back and damage his confidence. The margins are so fine when bringing kids in, I just think that in a game with such an intensity it would be a bad idea.

I reckon he would have got a bit of time against Norwich if he was going to get time on Sat.

A footballer no matter how old they are are always ready as far as am concerned look at rooney he was only 17, ross Berkley 18 so in my eyes id give him a go, you cant keep players in cotton wool to learn there trade shearer at Southampton age doesn’t matter at all

I’ve got a good feeling about Luuk. It sounds to me like there was a personal problem between him and his new boss, and the relief of a move away, plus the buzz of Saturday’s match may be just what he needs.
Bloody hope so – even Shola’s stopped scoring against the scum recently.
Anyone got any news on Goofs? He’s arguably our most in-form scorer and creator at the moment.
