Joe Kinnear’s Credibility Again Questioned

Well so much for Joe Kinnear’s statement that no player would be leaving Newcastle in this transfer window, and while Alan Pardew said the same thing three years ago about Andy Carroll – Joe Kinnear is in a better position to know better,  because he is our top man on transfers – both those coming in and those going out.

Joe Kinnear – statement questioned

So in retrospect it seems an unfortunate  statement for Joe to have made to Sky Sports earlier this month that no player would be leaving.

That’s especially true since we learned yesterday form Yohan Cabaye himself,  there was an agreement with Newcastle made last August, that if a suitable offer came in for him in the January transfer window, the club would allow him to leave.

And that’s what happened, so why would Joe Kinnear would make those kinds of statements – we have no idea.

Joe seems to be learning about the Director of Football job as he goes along.

And while that does happen in top jobs,  usually the person in the job keeps a low profile and doesn’t say too much, until they understands the job a little better.

But that doesn’t seem to be the case with Joe.

But to be fair, if the Irishman comes through with the goods before tomorrow night – and signs a good young player to replace Cabaye – then it will be a win for Newcastle and a win for Joe Kinnear  too.

We hope that’s exactly what happens.

    It can be dismissed immediately.
@NUFCThreatLevel—appeal-regulations.ashx … Section 3.3 – can dismiss immediately. We’ll get a game added on for spurious appealing

Fingers crossed, but it is unlikely. Does Foy have a game this weekend? If he has it would indicate that the powers that be don’t think he got it wrong. A mistake like that and you would normally miss a game.

Haha! To lose question a person’s credibility it makes the assumption that person had any to begin with….he does not.
I can only assume the Remy appeal is to delay his suspension to face the Scum. No other reason for it, it was clearly a red card offence and I thought Foy dealt with it brilliantly by sending both players off.

I don’t think his earlier statement loses him credibility. Everton said Feillani wasn’t for sale. Did Martinez lose credibility for that? Does Cabaye for saying he wanted to stay here about 10 days before he left?

Why would he say that we are selling Cabaye, people would have been in uproar if he had announced that! They are every time Pardew says that players have there value and if a club bids that then we will have to see.

    Just can’t win sometimes.

Was his credibility ever not on question?

I know if the appeal is deemed frivolous then it carries an additional game suspension but thought all appeals had to go to review, didn’t know they could dismiss it out of hand
Crazy move in that case, can’t see the FA over turning it be massively contradicting there own rules
The only sense i could see in appealing is that Cisse is still injured Goofy could be a doubt and there not prepared to throw LDJ in at the deep end, big risk in appealing it

That was my initial thought, but apparently FIFA pushed to have immediate reviews and the FA brought it in 3 years ago.

Can’t see it being overturned either, but I guess will have to hope! Certain that Pardews post match comments will also be held against us for it.

I agree sometimes Roles at the club can’t win, but JFK can’t and won’t win because he simply shouldn’t be in the job

What Credibility I agree Transfer Sage Kinnears the wrong man for the job how long will it take Ashley to realise that. You can only work with what tools you’ve got and in that respect I think Pardew does a very good job just look at what he has got to deal with A and K! doesn’t get much of a say

Joe makes a lot of “unfortunate” statements. He isn’t of the required standard of Director and neither is Pardew as a coach that mirrors the players’ abilities.

That’s what happens when you employ gambling pals instead of correctly qualified staff.

From reading the rules I guess we are hoping that they allow it to go to a proper hearing, but personally can’t see the sufficient evidence required for that!

On Kinnear, he may not be suitable for the role, and shouldn’t be in the job, but that doesn’t mean statements as he made THIS window lose him credibility. It is the crass way he introduced himself, and the lack of quantifiable evidence of him performing any role that does that for him.

    James RS,
The wrong man for the job? Who knows what his actual job spec is for Ashley. As far as we know he may be doing just as Ashley requires. Ensuring transfer income while bringing in low cost and loan signings to help maintain mid table safety.

Knowing Ashley it’s highly unlikely but how about…..

We negotiate a cut price deal for Berbatov.
His contract is up at the end of the season
and reportedly he’s currently on £80/- pw.
We might well have to meet his wages to the
end of the season but if he does well then maybe
a longer stay may result. He has great technique
does not rely on pace and is just the type of player
to replace Shola in the starting line up. He’s a
proven goalscorer. Fulham need a cash flow saving.
Let’s be ambitious at the eleventh hour, just once!

There was a big thing on it last night on Total sport, the conclusion by all was there was just no need for him to say and especially after it was revealed that the club had agreed to let him go, all these lies aren’t my issue anymore, I’m so used to it, what is boiling my pi$$ is why has it taken a month to bring in LDJ.

wldnt want berbatov on the books , quite happy with the longterm view , check the squad compared to 4 years ago, its like night and day .
if the owner is not to invest anymore money , then we are going about things the right way .

JFK speak with forked tongue.Cisse has a back injury maybe because a lot of you being on it 🙂 it cried out for him against Norwich. As for Grenier I cant see that happening.ashley has his sale price for players 70% off too,but will only buy on the cheap to make a profit later.Remy is a gamble and ashley is a well known gambler @8 is spot on with his assumption over the appeal.Saying that Norwich have appealed so in fairness we should. For what it’s worth I thought straight away red card.

Lyon either don’t want to sell Grenier or they want to receive a better offer before they do.

According to Pardew and presumably Kinnear and Ashley, every player is for sale – at the right price.

Lyon know we’ve got £20m or so for Cabaye and that we’ve got money so they’ll sit tight until they get what they want.

So Joe and Ashley have been hoist off their own petard and it’s clear to me that if we don’t get Grenier, that failure to get him over the line’s been contrived!

Kinnear is DoF in name only and in reality he’s nowt but Ashley’s front man.

I don’t know how he can sleep at night given his foul-mouthed outbursts, incompetence and lies!

I hope I’m wrong about him and if we do get Grenier, I’ll take it all back.

What credibility? He had none when he arrived and is another of the money for nothing brigade of nodding yes men! He epitomises so much of what if fundamentally wrong at the club right now.
This season is OVER already. We will be safe for another season. More season tickets have been sold. The balance sheet (and MA’s back pocket are swelling) and we will live to grab bargains in the ‘value to be added aisles” of Europe during the summer.
IF we need someone to cover Cabaye for the next few months – ANITA is the fella to do it. Backfilling the squad can be fixed quickly by recalling ABEID who is on fire in Greece…
