Alan Pardew has given his press conference for the upcoming game against Sunderland early Saturday afternoon, and it was obvious he would be asked about 23 year-old Clement Grenier – and Alan still thinks Newcastle are in with a chance of getting the lad to Tyneside before Friday night.
Alan Pardew – still hopeful on Grenier
It’s fair to say that if Joe Kinnear and Mike Ashley are not able to get a replacement in – they will have again let the manager down, who does the very best with the players he has available – of course that’s also a good definition of the job he has at Newcastle.
This is what Alan said when asked about the possible transfer of Grenier to Newcastle:
“Not in terms of if the deal is finalised or is finished, so it’s ongoing as far as I’m aware.” “It’s two days left, we’ll have to wait and see. I’m obviously hopeful and that’s really where I sit today.”
“I think he has tremendous creative, technical ability.” “I think he is a player Newcastle fans would love to see at the football club but he’s still not our player so, until he is … I’ll wax lyrical about him then.”
“There’s no option, really, other than to do that (be patient), but we will have to see how we go in the next two days,”
Everything we’ve heard and seen about Grenier tells us he would be a terrific signing for Newcastle as a direct replacement for Cabaye.
So let’s hope we can get him on board before 11:00 pm tomorrow night – that’s a good 31 hours away – lots of time for Joe to get his first permanent signing for Newcastle. 😀
What do you think?

Comment #81I’d love to know the justification on the Remy appeal. The FA should explain why one over tuned ant one not.
They have just showed it again on sky sports and both do the same except that Johnson decides to act like a cheat and make something out of nothing.
Also Holtby has joined fulham.

Comment #82How about “Safely Mediocre” as the club motto? Mike thinks it has a real ring to it. Club officials answering their phones can say “Newcastle United, safely mediocre. How may I help you?” Beautiful.

Comment #85From Duricic’s Wiki.Don’t know how true it is though
On 23 February 2013, it was confirmed that ?uri?i?, along with fellow national team player Miralem Sulejmani, passed medical tests and devoted to a five-year contract with Benfica from summer 2013, with the Portuguese club spending €6 million to secure his services.[4][5] A week later, Benfica revealed that the contract which ?uri?i? signed had a release clause which valued him at €40 million.[6]

Comment #87What are people’s thoughts on the derby?
If we lose another should Pardew go? or should it be taken in context with what’s been a decent season.

Comment #88If there is any truth in this Djuricic link then hopefully we have some more alternatives lined up and not leaked yet.
Tadic, Firmino, Maher etc.
Since it looks like Cabella and Grenier can’t be bought in this window.

Haha mate! Would’nt mind scouting and getting paid while are University. I would compile scout reports weekly of all the players and continue adding to each report untill another January transfer or summer window is upon us. With immediate effect, I would contact the players I want and get them to agree to join us until Mike Ashley pulls the plunge.
I would take him to court and this time I would sue him with a fee so huge that I will take over once I graduate and be the owner of Newcastle United, get very good sponsors the likes of Nike/Adidas and only get major ckothing brands as Armani, Hugo Boss. Ambitious!!

Comment #93If Pardew loses another debt he should go that afternoon. No pint in the bar, stuff from his desk should be on a cardboard box beside his car as he walks through the tunnel.
He might have lost cabaye, have no real strike threat etc but he should be able to fashion a team that should not lose from what he has.

Comment #99Out of excitement I have a couple of spelling mistakes made on the previous post. Look at what excitement and future ambitions can do to one. Lads wait will a real NUFC owner that has a blood of black & white takes over Newcastle United. I will sack the whole board with immediate effect as well. Hell, I will revamp the club bottom to top. Coaches, training ground, increase seat capacity, remove every sight of advertisements of that SportsDirect advertisements and have minimal adverts with the main one being SBR charity foundation and charity organisations.
I am getting a bit carried away, I am off to study more later lads!

Comment #103To be fair Pards should maybe not say anything about how good other players are until we sign them.
The other teams chairman will see this and know how much our manager wants his player, ups the price -probably.

Lol at Tsunki staring out of Velux looking for helicopters!
official site saying vuckic is staying at rotherham with tav until the end of the season. either pards still doesnt rate him, we have someone lined up or JFK called him Henry Vagazzle and he’s decided not to come back.
maybe we should just egg JFK’s austin allegro – he might get the message then

You’re right, replacing Cabaye will still only leave us heading for 8th. I don’t have a problem with that though. Very few of our players are past their peak so they should just be getting better, hopefully a few of our youth players can become regular first team players and if we can add Cabella and sign LDJ and Remy on permanent deals then we should set top 8 as a minimum next season with top 6 as the target.

Comment #110I dont think we stood much chance of overturning the red card, not when Pards comes out and states the ref got it right….Shut up Alan !!! Put the man in front of a camera…..
He should of come out immediately on the offensive stating we would be appealing immediately and it was never a red.
Luuk, i hope the force is with you for the derby !

Comment #113Toon supporters are so demanding -wanting strikers, midfield players, Colo replacement etc etc. Poor old Joe is trying his best -not his fault players won’t sign. To cap it all some are saying the seasons over. Well just hold ya hosses -we’ve still got the Wonga flags to look forward to. I’m sure you all forgot about this important item which was discussed at the Fans Forum. The Gallowgate end will look nice with them fluttering in the wind.
