Luuk de Jong has come in on loan to Newcastle to play games, and if you are Newcastle’s second striker at the moment – Papiss Cisse – the Senegal International has to be wondering how many game he’ll get through the end of the season, and we could even see Papiss leave today on loan to another club.
Papiss Cisse – could leave today?
That would be a big mistake from Newcastle’s viewpoint, but there’s news that could happen today.
And fringe players like Sylvain Marveaux and Gabby Obertan could also leave, as it’s now obvious that neither Frenchman is in Alan Pardew’s plans for Newcastle’s future.
There are clubs interested in taking Papiss Cisse and Marveaux on loan, and some French clubs interested in Gabby Obertan.
Of those three players the only one we could keep today is Papiss Cisse, and that’s because our biggest weakness now that Cabaye has gone is scoring goals, and to let a striker leave today would be a little ludicrous.
And with Cabaye leaving and not being replaced – Dan Gosling will be staying on Tyneside until he becomes a free agent in the summer – and then he will leave the club.
But he could see some playing time through the end of the season.
We really have to hope for some good news on the transfer front today – but the truth is the outlook is not particularly good.

Comment #4I almost feel like giving up, we’re on the verge of the derby and all we get is depressing news from the club. Pards seems well pee’d off regarding signings although he surely knew nobody was coming in and knows JFK is unable to persuade anyone decent to join the toon.
Pards and the players must be moping round seeing our better players moving out with no replacements coming in, a general air of depression around the training ground whereas Scum are on a roll and out of the bottom 3 – doesn’t look good for tomorrows game

Comment #5With Cabaye going, Pardew has lost the way of nicking a point or three from Cabaye’s individual ability. With Remy out we lose his individual ability.
I’d be very surprised if we win tomorrow.
Poyet is trying to get them playing football, even with a lot poorer players than we have and their form is improving all the time.
He could have done a lot more with our set of players if he’s showimg improvement with theirs.
It’s going to be containment tomorrow and I’m not looking forward to it at all.

I hope that wasn’t aimed at me mate, coz I’ll tell you right now I doubt you’ll find many people with a bigger passion for the club. If I was just interested in glory why would it hurt so bad. I have been an advocate for positivity on here as best I could be, I will follow the team til the day I die. Every window I say 1 more chance Ashley show us what you’ve got. It’s hard to stay so passionate when the owner repeatedly drops a dump on your chest. Only so much you can take. I have always praised the good the bloke has done, but fcuk me mate we are gluttons for punishment.
Feel free to refrain from calling us cnuts aswell you jumped up little torag

Comment #8I will probably repeat this over the course of today.
I think NUFC could buy (or loan) 3 midfielders today without breaking the bank:
Filip Djuricic – apparently available for 10 million euros or you could get on loan
Siem de Jong – wants to leave Ajax – could be available for 10 million euros. However, he is just about to return from injury, which could make a medical difficult.
Lewis Holtby – apparently available for loan from Spurs.
So, for the price of the supposed bids made for Grenier, we could have 2-3 midfielders of good quality.
Finally, it seems we are trying to get rid of older players, who are on high wages e.g. Marveaux, Cisse, Guiterrez, so we can bring in players on cheaper wages who are younger.

Comment #9Robert – we should have appointed Poyet whilst we had the chance, he has performed a miracle at the scum, their squad is shite and he has them in a cup final and gradually climbing the league. Make no mistake I honestly believe, barely any of there players would make our first team.

Possibly the most hypocritical heap of sh*te ever posted on here
Every day you complain, and whinge about people thinking its a computer game
Then go on to complain and post crap about your fantasy league!!!
Stick to the other blogs if you hate this one so much fella, and get ready to dust of your “wait til the window shuts” speech for next window, you’ve already used it for last summer!

Comment #11The confidence boost and belief they’ll have got be reaching the final will benefit them greatly.
It’s sad to say but I’m finding it extremely hard to be excited about this game.
Selling one of our best players knowing that he won’t be replaced is simply dreadful and highlights what Ashley running the club is all about.
Constant lies.
Kevin told us this straight away, but a few still take the propaganda bait.

You are as fickle as anyone. So now you ” rate” Pardew. Changed your tune a bit from the recent 4 straight losses, ”containing”’ football and 1 goal scored! Well tbf maybe I did too.
When Pardew finally worked out Cabaye’s best advanced position we did look better at West ham that’s true and even without Cabaye we still played very well and were extremely unlucky at Norwich. Albeit WHU and Norwich are 2 of the worst teams I’ve ever seen.
You can’t help but admire poyet going into Sunderland demanding he had a say in transfers and managing to get rid of their D.O.F.
Trouble is I really wouldn’t Pardew involved in transfers as it would man more obertans and Tomkins, bent and Noble standard players.

That’s the key word that some more concentrated on finance seem to miss
Confidence
The season is a long haul, a new player can massively boost the confidence of the squad and the fans
IF it turns out we lose a couple more today it sends the wrong message to the squad the fans and the league

It was aimed at whomever believes it was aimed at them. If you don’t think it was aimed at you, it probably wasn’t.
I agree that things have been better and I agree that Ashley has made some big mistakes. But with the final day of the window still upon us, some really miserable fans are jumping the gun here.
If this wants to be the blog that everyone comes on to whinge, then so be it. Every time someone posts something positive amidst all the negativity they get ignored or shot down.

it’s not that bad, people on here to discuss the positives, but they are getting less and less and the things which are positive seem almost token gestures from the club at times which is a shame that people have started thinking that way.

Comment #23A quick google of the numerous NUFC fanzines reveals that pretty much every single one is disenchanted or downright angry at goings on at the club at the minute, but obviously people who dedicate a lot of time to do these fanzines are probably all glory supporter like TDS says. Why else would they spend time, many of them doing it as well as a full time job, doing all that if they weren’t.
It is lucky TDS can show us the way as our only real supporter.
Anyone going on about how others aren’t proper fans because there opinions differ is probably the worst type of blogger you can get on here. I can put up with the WUMs and the trolls, even the occasional but to question other peoples support for the Toon because they don’t hold the same view as you is moronic. Each is entitled to their view, and no matter what their thoughts is no less of a fan than anyone else. Seriously, grow up.

Comment #24Check, I have a few pals who are Sunderland supporters and they are impressed with what Poyet is trying to make them do with their play.
I said to them he’ll have them playing some good football when they weren’t sure. Sure enough they are agreeing with me, plus they’re going to a cup final.
We, on the other hand, drive the equivalent of a Ferrari with only 2 gears because Ashley and his ‘ambition’ with lack of signings and a sacked lower league manager in charge will never put in place those extra gears.
Why should we just be content with mediocrity at the expense of Ashley making more money?
We shouldn’t be.

I was listening to total sport on wednesday night, they had a 10 year old kid phone up….they asked him about losing cabaye and he said…well we bought him for 5mil and sold for 20 so it’s good business.
It’s that what being a football fan is like for kids these days? they are told finances are more important than the team?
he did go on to say that we need somebody in to replace him, but it’s sad when kids worry about the money and not just excited by the football

Because there are a few people who post loads on here and constantly complain. There are a lot more people who post rarely and are actually balanced or positive.
It’s not that fans don’t have the right to be disappointed that Cabaye has left and we haven’t brought in a replacement, it’s the degree of negativity that is absolutely pathetic. We’re 8th in the PL FFS and we’ve still got a squad capable of staying there.
Some of us grasp the fact that we all want success but it takes time, others would seemingly want the impossible.

Comment #28Wouldn’t be surprised if we get rid of Cisse and Marv today freeing some ‘wages’ up, and then go back in for Grenier with an increased bid or some other player who we will struggle to ‘get over the line’.
Its all just a farce, probably trying to sign 13 million pound players then offer them 30k a week, the whole thing just stinks.
Shola will play tomorrow and will be utter garbage shite and my head will explode, hopefully getting the match abandoned as we will already be a few goals down.

I question the support of any so called fan when they repeatedly publically threaten to stop supporting the team because of a poor transfer window. Especially when it could turn around over the next 14 hours or so.
It’s got nothing to do with opinions, it’s about actions.

I understand your point we should still have enough to remain 8th but look at norwich game, 1 player sold and 1 injured (cabs and gouff) and we have to go back to sammy ameobi, one more injury and it will be gosling….we need to be adding more depth, not losing it.
Nobody is saying go out and spend 100mil, but it’s almost the other extreme at the moment, 2 loan signings all year and we have let a few go as well (including our main man).

I’ve posted about twice on the fantasy football league! And considering that is actually based on real football stats then your argument is pretty weak. If I tell you that Ramsey has scored X goals and made X assists this season because I saw it in fantasy football, that’s actually true. Maybe you didn’t understand that point…
I say again to wait for the end of this window. If we don’t sign a replacement for Cabaye then every fan has the right to be disappointed, but they need some perspective here! It’s not a disaster!

People threaten it often, you will notice that a lot who threaten this time also threatened last time. But they are still here. It isn’t anyone’s place to question another fans loyalties.
There are people on here who don’t think you are a proper fan because of your positivity. I think that is equally ridiculous as well. Just no need for it.
The blog is far better when people discuss points of view or argue their case rather than resorting to that kind of sniping, or the pointless insults that get thrown around. You are generally an interesting blogger to have a discussion with, but things like that just detract from whoever posts them mate.
