Pardew Disappointed At Losing Cabaye And No Replacement

12:20 am, Friday, January 31st, 2014 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 27 Comments

The disaster scenario could happen tomorrow if Newcastle fail to sign a replacement for the departed Yohan Cabaye, and there is now less than 24 hours left in this January transfer window.

Alan Pardew – disappointed

This is what Alan said yesterday – and it was after the news had broken that Clement Grenier would not be arriving at Newcastle today:

“You can’t take a player out like Cabaye and say it is not going to weaken you.” “It’s disappointing to lose a player of that quality and it is going to weaken you unless you can replace him like for like – but whether we can do that, I don’t know.”

“You could argue I’ve built two teams since I’ve been here, and I’ll have to build another new one in the summer.” “Things turn over very quickly at Newcastle.”

“You have to keep a clear mind … and we need to make sure we spend Yohan’s money wisely. There’s no point buying someone for £6m if they’re not good enough.”

It may be that 22 year-old Serbian International Filip Duricic comes in today, and that would be good, but it looks like for the second time in three years Newcastle may have weakened the team in January, when a top player has been sold and not replaced.

If that does happen, we are not surprised that Alan Pardew would be disappointed – the fans will be furious.

    Quit.

  • 2 AmericanMagpie // Jan 31, 2014 at 12:23 AM

Lets read between the lines. He is saying we have enough points for survival, there is no way we sign a Cabaye replacement.

    Great idea…..let’s hope.

Getting in the excuses for Saturday’s humiliation. Pfft..

  • 5 ilovetoon8788 // Jan 31, 2014 at 12:25 AM

There are clubs which refuse to sell players till they get their replacement or close to getting their player. Especially on the last few days of a transfer window.

While we knew of Cabaye departure since September and JFK did a sweet f all and now we are finding a player to be the scapegoat of a useless bid(Mark Noble). What a joke.

  • 6 Graeme // Jan 31, 2014 at 12:27 AM

Losing on Saturday is simply not an option – unless there are 11 bodies, in black & white shirts, laid out on the pitch. Having given their last breath for the team.

Looks like he’s stated that we won’t be buying anyone

  • 8 AaranD // Jan 31, 2014 at 12:28 AM

    Spot on Graeme!

  • 9 Our Toon // Jan 31, 2014 at 12:29 AM

Well this is why players must be bought in the summer window and not the winter window!! The build from some on here was that this window we get value for money, yes last winter window we did well but there is a reason why all clubs bulk but in summer window and emergency buy in this window

Sky reporting offer for Grenier was around £8m, haha no wonder it was undisclosed offer, absolute joke….let the penny pinching begin!! JFK was bought in to stop signings ppl not make them!! That’s why his first act was to cancel Douglas deal

Hopefully Dan Gosling turns out to be the next Steven Gerrard starting from Sunderland.

  • 11 darrylwe // Jan 31, 2014 at 12:31 AM

    AmericanMagpie – spot on.
Such a good squad that could have pushed on over the last 2 years but is being stripped to a squad that can survive. – On another point has anyone heard about the Fabian Delph link?

  • 12 AaranD // Jan 31, 2014 at 12:32 AM

    Delph, that’s a new one :).

It’s an absolute disgrace the way Ashley and his slimey chums are running the club.

Just been catching up with this evenings posts. I see there is a link with Mark Noble… deary me. The lad is a decent player, but a decent player isn’t a replacement for a very good player in Cabaye for £20m. Hope that’s not Pardew using his inverted genius to offer an opinion. He would ruin the team further if he signed his own players.

We won’t sign anyone anyway. It is totally unacceptable for all of the fans constantly being mislead.

King Kevin realised this straight away and wasn’t standing for their lies. Pardew gets gimped up and on all fours and takes whatever they dish out.

Ashley just cares about making his money and doing it with a limited outlay on players. It’s so frustrating and rather saddening.

Pardews a victim of his own good season! We’d have brought someone in were we fighting at the bottom!
Theres no way someone can be this incompetent at a job! Kinnear can only act on orders from Ashley

  • 15 Sir Erec // Jan 31, 2014 at 12:35 AM

Noble is just an easy bid that they know will be rejected as he is a key WHU player and WHU diehard. No way Big Sam would sell him

  • 16 MacToon // Jan 31, 2014 at 12:35 AM

Oh dear. Pardew doesn’t sound too happy or too cheerful.
“Things turn over very quickly at Newcastle.” Indeed they do and not always for the best.
This charade will end soon enough and normal service will resume, until the summer atleast.

The timing for cancelling next years season tickets seems to have been brought forward this season, I wonder why! *Another (more political-less football) article in The Mag explains.

I’d feel sorry for Percy if he wasn’t a mug like.

Same drivel from him every window.

He’s like that orvil the duck, only it’s not Keith working the duck, it’s Ashley :-)

  • 18 Belfast // Jan 31, 2014 at 12:40 AM

    Hello Mactoon

Think we’ve been here a few times before. ;-)

Same shite different window mate lol

  • 19 Spreadthetoon // Jan 31, 2014 at 12:41 AM

Well that’s that then. No replacement. A rebuild in the summer eh? Good luck with that Alan, JFK can’t string a sentence together let alone assist you in the mire! Everyone knew that Cabaye was our nucleus , our talisman.
No strategy, no direction from above, we all deserve so much better, includes manager, players and fans! Good luck re-building a team in a World Cup summer.

    Remy
    Collo
    Shola
    LDJ?
    Marveaux
Overran (wow predictive txt eh, we’ll u know who I mean!)
    HBA
Don’t worry I’m sure that between Joe n’ Mike they’ll have a fiver in their back pocket! Wtf do we have to rebuild why can we not just strengthen our team!

  • 20 Our Toon // Jan 31, 2014 at 12:41 AM

    Darrylwe

I’ve heard Delph, Charlie Adam all kinds of links mate, bottom line we’ll make derisory offers and then last 2 hours of window we leak a last minute bid for someone and then end up with no one!! Meanwhile the 4 targets sanctioned ensured that mid season tickets got sold in good numbers….. The Geordie public continue to get conned and fans still fickle enough to pay and turn up in droves!!

Ashley can’t survive without bums on seats how much more are some going to take? So glad I’ve boycotted this season, justifies my decision

  • 21 RUNAWAY777 // Jan 31, 2014 at 2:11 AM

simply just stay well clear sjp

  • 23 laurits90 // Jan 31, 2014 at 2:45 AM

Do you egocentric morons think leave SJP empty will do any good?
Get another team to cheer on then! Get behind the players ffs!…………………………………

  • 24 Blofal // Jan 31, 2014 at 3:15 AM

The summer window will be interesting. As I’ve said before we will lose…

    Cabaye
    Gutierrez
    Shola
    Gosling
    Remy

    And we will possibly lose..

    Coloccini
    Cisse
    Obertan
    Marveaux.

That is 9 players. We would need at least 5 signings I would think. Im pretty confident we have Cabella on an agreement to come in the summer from what was reported.

  • 25 Geordie1 // Jan 31, 2014 at 5:28 AM

No Replacement for Cabye Well is anybody out surprised? I’m not until we rid ourselves of this leach called Ashley who has attached himself to us this is going to go on season after season. Buy them cheap,Train them up and sell em high No AMBITION the twat.

  • 26 ToonMatt // Jan 31, 2014 at 6:48 AM

Why doesn’t he do something about it instead of being took for a mug by those two clowns?

  • 27 ash1001 // Jan 31, 2014 at 8:00 AM

When is everyone going to get real Pardew is part of the clan, if Ashley did not like some of the things he spouts forth with, then he would be out of the door, but then he would have to get a replacement. Ashley can control Pardew any which way he likes, Pardew is as big a part of the problem as JFK and MS – no doubt about it.
Look at the Remy red card appeal, Pardew comes out and says he deserved it – then appeals against it (dumber than dumb), whereas Hughton says straight away he was going to appeal Johnsons. We all know who started all the bother yet he gets away with it – could it be the FA do not like Ashley.
Then there’s the fact that tomorrows match is not been televised, could it be the TV companies have had enough of Ashley getting global coverage for Sports Direct as well as a fat fee.
Me, I am just sick of them all.
