Newcastle Thrashed By Sunderland 3-0

2:54 pm, Saturday, February 1st, 2014 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 142 Comments

Just when we thought it couldn’t get much worse, Newcastle were decidedly second best against 4th bottom of the league Sunderland this afternoon, and for the second time in a row Sunderland have won at St. James’ Park by a score of 3-0 – and they have now won the last three derby games against Newcastle, and that’s the first time that’s happened in 91 years. :( :( :(

andrew johnson

Adam Johnson – after scoring Sunderland’s second goal

And we were wondering who would score the goals with Loic Remy, Yohan Cabaye and Yoan Gouffran all missing the game for one reason or another.

And to tell the truth Sunderland were much the better side today, and it could have been even worse than 3-0 – but 3-0 for the second time running is simply a tragedy for Newcastle United.

That first half display today was simply shambolic and a disgrace to the football club.

And we need to sign some leaders for this team in the summer – there was no courage or guts shown by the vast majority of the Newcastle players today.

But we may be  on a downward path in the league with Chelsea and Tottenham, the next two games for Newcastle – and this after Mike Ashley has allowed the side to be considerably weakened by the sale of Yohan Cabaye last week – and not have him replaced.

And of course Mike Ashley and Joe Kinnear were nowhere to be seen today – so they have shown no courage either – just like the players – and Pardew got a shellacking from the fans

And in the last three years Pardew has gone up against Gus Poyet four times – twice against Brighton and twice against Sunderland – and lost every time – so that doesn’t look too good for the future does it?

This is a very very low point for Newcastle, and in our last six league games we have lost four and won only one.

Every single Newcastle player has to look at themselves in the mirror after this game – it was a pathetic and gutless performance.

im off for a ‘feeling sorry for myself’ tug

  • 2 belgrade fan // Feb 1, 2014 at 3:02 PM

In last 5 games we scored 3 goals BUT only on 1 game. Shocking. But sold 2nd goal scorer and best player and took on loan player who played 10 mins in halfseason and scored 0.

  • 3 BuckLuck // Feb 1, 2014 at 3:02 PM

Short term solution: Get rid of Pardew.
Long term solution: Get rid of Ashley.

    Time to boycott!

  • 4 jordijohnty // Feb 1, 2014 at 3:03 PM

Pardew not to blame!?! Surely he must have insisted in having a 1 to 1 with ashley to demand action in january If he was to cowardley to do this, then he he is too cowardley to manage our team, which is evident in his cautious approach to football

  • 7 TacoFlavoredKisses ForMyBen-arfa // Feb 1, 2014 at 3:05 PM

wow. so many negative things to say. is it finally acceptable to do that here??? allow me to vent
-Pardew is looking to get fired, no other way to explain how he lets shola play 90 minutes
-Shola’s entire game consists of going to ground and looking for foul. Pathetic
-Saylor is not a starter in EPL
-De JOng???? ummm not sure what to say. Ill give him the benefit of the doubt, but he did not look good. this is my first time watching him play.
-Ben arfa, he cannot succeed in this system. too talented for long ball. in addition, how many balls did he play in to shola who was stuck in quick sand?>>???
-Santon was absolutely terrible and should have come off at half. everyone is due a bad game though

Fan tries to give season ticket to Pardew

  • 9 yo-yo // Feb 1, 2014 at 3:08 PM

Phil McNulty’s devastating comments about our club

    Newcastle United

Key moves in: Luuk de Jong [from Borussia Monchengladbach] loan.
Key moves out: Yohan Cabaye [to Paris St Germain] £19m, Jonas Gutierrez [to Norwich] loan, Curtis Good [to Dundee United] loan

The biggest losers of all in the transfer window – with a lack of activity that is bound to raise further questions about the role of director of football Joe Kinnear.
On the surface, Kinnear’s job appears to be to do the deals and bring players in to Tyneside. If this is the case, he has hardly been a success.
Yohan Cabaye left for Paris St-Germain in a £19m deal but there was no midfield replacement for such an influential player, with Borussia Monchengladbach striker Luuk de Jong the only incoming.
This leaves Newcastle manager Alan Pardew in a weakened position despite his hopes of bringing a player in to fill the vacancy left behind by Cabaye.
If Newcastle’s season fades, there are likely to be repercussions from fans who will be very unhappy at a failure to significantly strengthen the squad while in a decent Premier League position.

  • 10 PompeyJohn // Feb 1, 2014 at 3:09 PM

It’s just as well that we have points in the bag already as we might not be getting many more! It’s negligent of Kinnear and Ashley to allow Cabaye to go without a replacement when they knew all along there was a good chance of that happening. Our bench shows just how bad the situation is. A few more injuries/suspensions and we’ll be relying on Obertan and Gosling. There’s no way Remy will stay and which other decent player will want to come here in the summer if we are on a really bad run?

  • 11 theartfuldodger // Feb 1, 2014 at 3:09 PM

Pardew tried something different but failed in both halves.
But with the personnel we have its not a surprise.

We have no one for free kicks and corners. santon was abysmal at them

shola wil start 2 more games.

We will loose 20m prize money in league positions.

  • 12 leeb1982 // Feb 1, 2014 at 3:10 PM

aye its been a while since i was here but there u go. thats what our money pays for. well the fat f****g cockney pricks that run our club(that includes pardwhowhatwherewhywhen) can f off. i aint giving another penny to the club as long as he owns us. but if its only me the fat f****r wont give a toss. so come on stand beside me all u geordies the only way we get him out is by hurting newcastle. if we stop the profits for the fat cunt then maybe he will f off with pardew n kinnear.

  • 13 Ketsbaia9 // Feb 1, 2014 at 3:11 PM

Cisse must play instead of Shola from now on.

  • 14 davis_toons // Feb 1, 2014 at 3:13 PM

Lucky that i have missed the game or i would be too frustrated scream and yelling inside .. what a disappointment.

Pardew just could not get the best in Ben Arfa unlike CH does.

  • 15 MrMojoRisin76 // Feb 1, 2014 at 3:13 PM

Why can’t anybody see?,the reason we were the top North East club is because we where ambitious,we payed top money for what we thought were quality players, maybe not the best thing to do but at least it was positive,we wanted to be in Europe, that is what the club and the fans was geared for.Now we are becoming Sunderland.I don’t think you realise how bad this situation is we need rid of Jabba and we need rid asap.

  • 16 zoodin88 // Feb 1, 2014 at 3:13 PM

Where do i vote for worst player?

Coz no one played well enough to deserve a positive vote.

Shola Ameobi was so bad, it was a horror show.

  • 17 yo-yo // Feb 1, 2014 at 3:13 PM

I think with LDJ then we must at least try the partnership with Cisse. It probably means a 4-4-2 though

  • 18 WorJordi // Feb 1, 2014 at 3:13 PM

Irrespective of what money Pardew owes Ashley there is absolutely no fkin way this cretin should be allowed to continue to manage our club

  • 19 Junior90 // Feb 1, 2014 at 3:13 PM

Kudos to Poyet and Sunderland. Had Johnson not hit the crossbar and Altidore not miss the 1 on 1 with Krul, we could have been hit for at least 5.

I don’t really blame Pardew as this is probably his managerial style and that he’s ill suited to manage our club but it was Ashley who hired him in the first place.

If the same performance continues, there’s always a possiliblity that we’ll go down cos no way in hell we’re gonna win any game playing like that.

  • 20 toonbrother // Feb 1, 2014 at 3:13 PM

tbf to sunderland they were good today and thoroughly deserved the three points.
Pardew is a terrible manager. one of the poorest footballing minds i have ever had the displeasure of watching. he sucks

  • 21 manxpie // Feb 1, 2014 at 3:14 PM

catchy ffs lad why don’t you FKRIGHT OFF NOW!!!
you spout the same crap every time we lose every time!! but ya no where to be seen when we win no where!!!
    the players today were shocking!!
    the squad today was shocking!!
the transfer window was the worst in history imo!!
hoiw about you direct your hatred to the actual people who deserve it!!

and catchy please tell us all (for the 100th time!) your replacement UNDER!!!! this regime!!??????

think on fella because deep down you know ya an arse and your spouting about pardew only happens when we lose!! i bet rotunda will be next again dismissing the fact that the manager is so so so undermined its almost unbelievable!!!??

  • 22 Unbelievable Tekkers // Feb 1, 2014 at 3:14 PM

I thought sunderland would win but 0-3…wow. Some big decisions to be made before now and next season i dont know how many unwanted records Pardew is going to accumulate before he does the honorable thing.

  • 23 JackButler // Feb 1, 2014 at 3:14 PM

The transfer window was a slap in the face off Ashley, today was a kick in the balls.

As a business concern we are a very good option for Ashley, as a footballing concept w e will simply continue to exist

  • 24 martin // Feb 1, 2014 at 3:15 PM

  • 26 leeb1982 // Feb 1, 2014 at 3:16 PM

im 30 now n ive sat through the lows the highs n more lows but that was disgraceful. but its time for us true fans to hit where it hurts. not the mindless idiots that begged cabaye to stay by singing that song. where was ur thanks. sadly the only way to rid us of cashley is to hurt the club we love. if we stop giving him profits then he will f off then we as fans can then start to rebuild our great club. u ntil then he wont get a single penny off me. lets be heard

  • 27 BuckLuck // Feb 1, 2014 at 3:16 PM

Just like people will actually attend the next home match

  • 28 anthc // Feb 1, 2014 at 3:17 PM

Buck stops with pardew for me. His team, tactics and preparation for today. He needs to manage back in league 1 where his style can still grind out results. We are a mediocre team with average players which I can accept but its the way we lost today in our biggest match of the season no guts passion or desire to win. Pardew when you leave take the ameobis with you please.

  • 29 niafron // Feb 1, 2014 at 3:17 PM

Lads, it’s official, we’re in the middle of nowhere.

  • 30 Spoof // Feb 1, 2014 at 3:17 PM

A concerted effort to get rid of Ashley must now be made, blaming the manager and the coaching staff is futile, we can’t even blame JFK, at the end of the day if you know that your best player is going and you refuse to replace him then you will be weaker and morale will be down, how can we expect players to be up for the club when they know that the team will only get weaker, blame Pardew as much as you like, but your wrong, we cannot blame JFK either, how can we, if JFK was permitted to get the players in then I’m sure he would, it hasn’t happened due to one man so we should all put Pardew and JFK to the back of our minds and concentrate on harrassing Ashley out of our club, worry about the backroom staff once we are rid of him.

  • 31 Brutooon // Feb 1, 2014 at 3:18 PM

    How can we win when

    1) we play the worst striker in FOOTBALL HISTORY (Shola Sh*t Ameobi) for 90 mins

    2) play Saylor when Mapou is part of the team who won against chelsea and Man Utd simple becaus he is a “geordie”

  • 32 MrMojoRisin76 // Feb 1, 2014 at 3:18 PM

And if i hear see 1 more person praising Sunderland or Poyet i might just get a little crazy.

  • 33 gonufc (Release the Hatem Bomb) // Feb 1, 2014 at 3:19 PM

Kinnear- He has to ATLEAST do the honourable thing and answer questions about why he is so incredibly incompetent.

    “Judge me on my signings”
    - Okay……….

Why is he allowed to just rake in his retirement fund without even answering questions? This is total cronyism and profiteering.

  • 34 Taff the Mag // Feb 1, 2014 at 3:19 PM

Complete and utter humiliation, a farce from beginning to end, diabolical passing and tackling, the Joke and Cashley have made us a laughing stock. Small wonder we ca,nt sign any half decent players, we are a club with no ambition, happy with a mid table position. Mr Ashley this is a football club not a business, this really hurts..

  • 35 WorJordi // Feb 1, 2014 at 3:19 PM

He is as entitled to an opinion as you are
Pardew is tactically inept and should not be managing this club
    That’s a fact!
You know it we all know it.
The team know it as there shocking performance shows.
Until Ashley goes we are all stuck with this shite

  • 36 DanRo // Feb 1, 2014 at 3:19 PM

Racing Santander’s players refused to play on Thursday night due their wages not being paid for 6 months.

Brian McDermott was sacked before the owner took over Leeds!

NUFC were awful. There were many contributory factors:

    1) appalling tactics – reverting to hoofball
    2) selection of players – Shola
    3) subs – predictable and unhelpful
    4) Low confidence and morale of players – no motivation, no ambition in the dressing room
    5) Ashley and JK abilities in the transfer window
    6) Sunderland played very well
    7) Poyet got his tactics spot on

NUFC will plod on. Fans will still spend money, turn up to the stadium and we will all keep moaning.

  • 39 cyprus // Feb 1, 2014 at 3:20 PM

This spanking is becoming an annual occurrence. I’ve praised Anita’s games but that penalty was just stupid. In the second, bad luck (watch carefully) but Santon should’ve covered the only advancing player. HBA, I’m a fan but his passing was abysmal. Ameobi, well the wrong one was subbed. The mackem killer label don’t hold no more.

Bottom line: outfoxed by Gus, once more.

Good news: we’re not in danger :)

  • 40 jimiley // Feb 1, 2014 at 3:21 PM

You can sack who you want but it will make no difference until the cancer at the core of the club is gone. I have stayed away for two years. Its the only way to get rid of the cancer. Anybody who goes to matches and “supports the team and not the regime” is a twat. All they are doing is supporting the cancer. You are feeding the cancer you morons!!!!

  • 50 theartfuldodger // Feb 1, 2014 at 3:23 PM

Slowly Slowly attendances will decline. Eventually in a number of years it will reach 20. At this point Ashley will exit.
And fans will be left wondering why they waited for so many year to stop going.

  • 51 Ancientcoptic // Feb 1, 2014 at 3:23 PM

I think we missed Remy more than Cabaye today.

There isn’t much Cabaye could have done about our defending today, we had Tiote and Anita playing and they are more defensive minded.

We were toothless upfront and missed Remy badly.

Ameobi should have been let go something like 10 years ago… watch and see where he ends up next season, that will be a big indicator of what level he plays at. I would be surprised if a championship club takes Ameobi next season.

  • 52 RageAgainstTheRegime // Feb 1, 2014 at 3:24 PM

I think the worst bit of that game was having to apologise to my other half for putting her through it. She never really watched football but was more inclined towards Liverpool because of family connections. I turned her head. The cruellest thing I will ever do.

The good news is we’re not in danger? So that justifies our third straight derby defeat (first time that has happened since 1923)?

That excuse was also the reason we sold our best player mid-season and refused to strengthen him.

If anything, we had a better chance of investment if we were fighting a relegation battle.

I fail to see any ‘good news’ from today’s disaster.

    Nico and other pardew lovers

Yes we all want Ash and JFK gone but Pardew sets up the team and the tactics and regardless of what players you have, no one forces you to play 194 long balls!!

Who apart from Johnson would get in our squad, let alone team? Poyet is not Di canio and hardly just flavour of the month as he has an excellent CV wherever he’s been and always played positive football.

Pardew was flavour of the month when we finished 5th but had done nothing before or since and the return to hoofball today just confirmed everything about him.

The difference is that I always beilieved the owners were trying to improve things. We were a big team. This owner is taking all the money 80 MILLION in the last year alone. It is daylight robbery. He is a bandit. Anybody who goes to matches is not helping the team. They are helping a bandit rape out great club

At least we now know Pardew still hasn’t paid his gambling debts off to Ashley otherwise the sad useless pr!ick would have been sacked immediately after the match.

In my own sad little world I hoped the following would’ve happened yesterday.

Due to the fact we’re safe and nothing to play for til the end of the season, Pardew sacked as soon as window closed irrespective of whether we got anyone in or not. Main reason for doing so is despite a very good squad he’s a lousy tactician who’s making them play in a style that doesn’t suit and stifling the natural talent 80% of the team possess.

new progressive manager comes in who gets half a season to put his stamp on the squad and get them to play football dare I say like Gus Poyet (who by the way we could’ve had)

Fat boy sells the club in the summer

    Normality prevails….everyone’s smiling.

Sunderland wanted, it we did not have a clue and why Mbwa and Haidra are not in the side is another mystery. Where do we go from here with a demoralised team thanks to our cash rich management team is beyond me. DISGRACE!!!!

Unfortunately i think it has to get a lot worse before it gets better and JFK may be a necessary obstacle to go through before the endgame of hopefully Ash finally going..

Just staying as it is with Pardew isn’t really an option any more. We came 16th last season and are struggling again now so hardly worse than JFK with 5 losses in 7 games and record losses v the mackems. Pardew does love setting unwanted records.

People saying Pardew is making well of a bad situation. Poyet has a 2nd rate squad but has a philosophy of good football and changing fortunes there. They’ve doubled the amount of passes a game since he took charge and its no accident. It all starts on the training pitch.

I know the feeling. I’m from Norway/Oslo and I started my love for Newcastle 26 years ago when I saw a documentary about Newcastle and it’s football club. My two sons are also converted of course. Usually we visit Newcastle 4-5 times a year to go to SJP. It’s heartbreaking not to visit, but even my two boys don’t want to go as long as Ashley is there. I’m just glad they are loyal!

We’ll be back though. We’ll outlast Ashley.

we tried to paly football in the first half but the players aren’t good enough so we went longball to try and change things, what is he supposed to do continue as we did in the first without trying something different, look at the players themselves, how so many feel that Anita, Marveaux, Sissoko and Ben Arfa are good players is a mystery, they are poor, how many poor performances do they have to make before people realise this, you dislike Pardew greatly, thats fine but please look at the players and most importantly the owner, as he is the problem, this anti Pardew, Kinnear or whoever campaign is past its sell by date now, we have to move on as one and get rid of Ashley, lets not waste our time on other issues, as for Pardew you may be right, you may be wrong but that is immaterial as Ashley is all that matters at this point, concentrate on him.

How did we as fans feel when we sold Cabaye?,can you imagine what the players must be feeling?.All the hard work the players have put in,from the terrible start we had to getting into a good position in the league has now been thrown down the sh1tter with 1 stroke. Why couldn’t we say to Cabaye “you can go at the end of the season, not now”?,he’s not going to go on strike again a few months away from the World Cup and to bring no-one in is another absolute joke,no wonder they played like they didn’t care.

Pardew is staying because he is doing exactly what the cancer wants. He will be sacked if the heat on the cancer gets to great. Pards will be the scapegoat. Pards is not the problem. He is spineless because he should walk but he will protect his lotto win ie his contract. He is waiting for the sack or else he will just plod along as normal. He will not criticize the owner and risk breaching his contract and the loss of 10 million. Its a lotto win!!!!

It was worse than playing with 10 with Ameobi, as he was constantly getting in the way and breaking up our attacks.

I was thinking through the game, I just wish he would go stand somewhere out of the way, and let the players get on with it.

We’re nigh on safe. There’s no better time to boycott and frequently protest, as it’ll do minimal damage to the club and is the only method available to fans that can dent MAs reputation and make the masses feelings known. It’s the only way we’ve ever elicited a reaction from him in the past, with demos and organised, focused upheaval – he publicly put the club on the market. We’re a better prospect for buyers now, if we can get him to do it again, who knows. Better than continuing in the same vein, rendering the whole club and our participation in the league pointless exercise.

No use been diffident disciples of a zombie club. Take a step back and look at the bigger picture.

  • 112 toonluvva // Feb 1, 2014 at 3:42 PM

Today we were torn apart by a team who until their last match were in the bottom 3. That is a fact.

Ashley is gambling that we will survive in the PL so that he can get paid to advertise SportsDirect next season. He has no further ambition than that.

Joe “judge me on my signings” Kinnear is a joke.
He is just picking up his wage packet for doing nothing, except get players out of the club. Apparently Cabaye had indicated a while ago that he wanted to go. Why didn’t Joe have a replacement already lined up now, not in the summer, perhaps.

Pardew, least said soonest mended. Not good enough by a long way. Hopefully even he can see that Strola is just not good enough even for the championship. Sadly, he is just waitng to get sacked so that he can pick up his compen, or perhaps a case for constructive dismissal.

What Remy was thinking about by getting himself sent off in the last match? To me he is merely running down the clock before moving on to a better club. Can’t blame him can you?
Joe will not even think about starting to look at a replacement until it’s way too late. Couldn’t get them “over the line” once again.

Too early to judge De Jong. He needs a few matches, but whether we can persuade him to sign on long term is still up in the air.

Hatem flatters to deceive. Needs a decent coach to get the best out of him. Pardew is not one to do it. He’ll be gone in the summer. Ashley will be pleased and Joe will just miss out on a replacement.

Debuchy too often caught ball watching. He’s already missing Cabaye. Another player who’ll leave in the summer. Hopefully we’ll get Shane Ferguson back.

Really thinks are looking bleak for in the short and medium term.

Season ticket renewal time is coming up. Ashley won’t be bothered even if 50% didn’t renew. TV revenues are the life blood of SportsDirect FC as we have become.

How any one can think Pardew is a good manager is beyond me. Look at what you are watching man, he is tactically inept, constantly puts square pegs in round holes, the team has no balance and discipline, and worst of all no motivation. Compare our squad to the Mackems or Southampton, it is miles better player for player, yet they both have young modern managers who can do all of the above. Pardew is in the same category of Old Dinosaurs that once ruled Football, the media darlings, the old pals, same old tactics, playing their favourites, bloody GET RID!

what you fail to grasp is
    football full stop

you have no idea how the game is ment to be played, so arguing with you is futile

you think when we win 10 on the trot its pardew, but out of those 10 games, 9 would be wonder goal one nil games, and you would scream he has got it right, when the fact would be we rode our luck

he could then go on and lose 10, and you would still poit to the 10 he won to say we can do it

i watched sunderland today, a team that did not look like a team 3 month ago, they were full of fight , invention, running,,
what is that stat, only 1 team bottom at xmas has stayed up, well sunderland are no 2 , he will keep the up, and the sad fact is , i would not swap many players, shola, williamson, and that is it

you think we are getting better under him, i arue this with many, even the ones who hate pardew as much as me, al he has done, is stoped the long balls and swapped it for passing it around in MF,, we dont and never have know how to break teams down under pardew,

it has taken GP only 3 month to stamp his game on sunderland
OGS at cardiff, he will get them playing and scoring, he is bringing good players in, and he will use there abilities in the right way

LDJ had to feed off scraps of long balls today, and think of this, pardew has been there over 3 years and in his words he is building his 3rd team,,

    some 5y plan

he has not got a clue

he is being forced out and has not got the balls to walk

  • 131 ThatAndyGuy // Feb 1, 2014 at 3:55 PM

    What a disgraceful performance.

Ben Arfa was simply awful today. He may be fast but he is the greediest player we have. He needs to learn to pass the ball and to help to create chances for his team mates rather than just himself. I personally couldn’t care less if he left or not as I think we play better without him, although I do wish Pardew would start playing him on the right side where he is much more effective. Actually, I just wish all of our players would play in their natural positions.

Why on earth was Sammy substituted when he was?! He was about the only player to keep dribbling the ball forward towards the box in the first half, the other players just weren’t making themselves open enough to pass to so he ended up keeping the ball for longer than he’d probably have liked.

I like Tiote but today he was far from great. In fact the entire midfield was obviously lacking Cabaye’s presence, but we’re gonna just have to do the best we can until the summer when we’ll hopefully sign a decent replacement.

I thought De Jong showed potential, but he’d have to be played with the right striking partner, which isn’t Shola. I feel he’d play better with the likes of Cisse over Remy as Remy appears to be more of a solo striker and Cisse proved he can work in a striking partnership when Ba was at the club. I did feel sorry for De Jong today though, not the best game to debut on.

Overall, horrible match from Newcastle today. We were completely outplayed. Unless we spend money in the summer window I think we can wave goodbye to any hopes of cup opportunities next season, and probably half of our squad too.

  • 132 Ancientcoptic // Feb 1, 2014 at 3:56 PM

Man Utd and Tottenham are losing.

Would it have been that difficult to have won against Norwich and Sunderland… games we should have been winning.

There was a gap opened up this season, for a frugal club like ours, but Ashley isn’t frugal, more like the equivalent of somebody that runs a breakers yard, ironically enough he looks like he is from a knackers yard. You cannot buy honor or class.

I can not keep watching my team play pointless longballs, play players out of position and waste there potential and creative influence, sell our best players and not get in a replacement when they knew all of january he would be going, and continue to use shameobi who as people have allready said wouldnt even make a championship team.
Mike ashley is a leach sucking the blood from our great club and alan pardew makes decisions and uses tactics that would get a championship manager player fired.
I think this boycott talk is on the right track and the only way to get ashley out before we become the next leeds.
I have lived in somerset for 16 years now and havnt had a chance to visit st james since the 97/98 season and I will allways remember how great it was to see ndwcastle play at home. • 136 toonluvva // Feb 1, 2014 at 4:08 PM

Please stop talking as if the fans will ever be able to persuade Ashley to go. He is too thick (skinned) to listen what we say.

He is only interested in the TV revenues. Even if we stopped shopping in the SportsDirect outlets he will still be taking in money from the rest of his empire.

We are stuck with him for the foreseeable future. Probably for at least 5 seasons.

He will sell up only when we are no longer a PL club, but he will have sold off all our decent players leaving us with a club that will never return to the top flight without a huge investment, and no one who buys us is guaranteed to do that.

Another scenario is that someone buys out SportsDirect. I suppose that is a reasonable prospect and a lot preferable to the more likely relegation one.

In short it’s going to be a long hard ride for a SportsDirect fan. I no longer refer to us by our old name. You have to just accept seeing us becoming a middle of the league club at best. No cup aspirations at all either. Out of FA and league cups asap.

Many clubs are happy with their lot so why not SportsDirect FC?

For too many years the team that played at St James’ Park was mismanaged, and it will continue for a few more years to come.

From what has happened today and the views on the site, IMHO no one should go to the next few home games in protest. Or if you must go turn up 15 minutes late to show your dissatisfaction. As a fan if you are prepared to see our club run like this… its your choice… I wont be giving any more time or money to the club ( which is Ashley ) until he has sold up and fecked off back to the shit hole he came from. If you go to the ground you are shooting yourself in the foot and deserve everything you get, but I still think the ones that do go are killing the club I support. We all need to take a stand against this ruthless Wonga type of mercenary for bringing our club into disrepute. I’m going to listen to what the true geordie has to say on youtube. I know a lot of fans don’t want to go to St James’ Park and put money into A$h£ey’s pocket.

Some go to a pub to watch, some listen to the radio and others either follow it online or via a streaming site on their PC

The latter are worried about downloading a virus, a genuine concern.

The answer is to search for a XBMC box. This is essentially a stripped down PC allowing you to attach to the web without risking your PC. You can attach it to your TV via HDMI or AV cables that sometimes come included.

I notice that there is always someone giving advice as to which sites are carrying out match.

  • 140 Malta Mag // Feb 1, 2014 at 6:19 PM

It’s hard to find reasons for that but although I’m a Pardew fan I have to question Ameobi’s inclusion although I’ve said that for the past 10 years and all those managers that rated him. Sunderland looked good but our game plan was to play it long into Ameobi which was never going to work and went against the style we’ve been playing lately?
I think it’s time to shuffle the pack a little and freshen things up with the players we’ve got but this will hurt for a long, long time.
