Pardew To Sky Sports After Game – Better Team Won – Video

3:43 pm, Saturday, February 1st, 2014 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 300 Comments

Here is the interview that Newcastle manager Alan Pardew gave after the game today – which is one of the most humiliating defeats by Sunderland in our entire history, and the first time since 1923 that Newcastle have lost three successive league games to Sunderland.

This was simply a stunning loss by Newcastle today.

So we were a one man team then? One player goes and it’s game over? We were at home v sunderland at the foot of the table. What was the excuse for last year as I’m pretty sure cabaye was around then.

Only johnson alone would get in our team, they had a geriatric central defence with no pace and we bang 194 long balls at them!!

Sorry but Pardew is as thick as. This is the guy wh0o played ben arfa for a full 90 mins after 4 months off on a plastic pitch in sub-zero conditions!! Intelligent he aint.

How many times are we always here moaning about Pardew.

  • 3 archaeomag // Feb 1, 2014 at 3:46 PM

    He got that right!

we tried to play football in the first half but failed, the players aren’t good enough so we went longball to try and change things, what is he supposed to do continue as we did in the first without trying something different, look at the players themselves, how so many feel that Anita, Marveaux, Sissoko and Ben Arfa are good players is a mystery, they are poor, how many poor performances do they have to make before people realise this, you dislike Pardew greatly, thats fine but please look at the players and most importantly the owner, as he is the problem, this anti Pardew, Kinnear or whoever campaign is past its sell by date now, we have to move on as one and get rid of Ashley, lets not waste our time on other issues, as for Pardew you may be right, you may be wrong but that is immaterial as Ashley is all that matters at this point, concentrate on him.

Not that you care though Pardew eh, you are a cockney twat and get your pay check at the end of the week so no skin of your nose .

How many shocking records has he got to break here ? . Poyet is miles ahead as a coach.

toonking…I’d like to think you could prove to yourself to be better than than the last manager and realise the potential of the squad under you.

I’d get great satisfaction from that irrespective of having no budget for new players because our squad is a good squad.

but hey…if you don’t want it I’ll not put you forward :-)

  • 10 MrMojoRisin76 // Feb 1, 2014 at 3:49 PM

Cabaye wasn’t in the best form of his life last time we played them was he?,he was recently, and if your going to ignore the impact of him leaving and the impact he had on the squad then i’m not going to talk to you.
We really need to all get on the same page here.Wtf is the point in asking to sack Pardew?,who do you think will be our next manager?.Open your f@cking eyes.

what you fail to grasp is
    football full stop

you have no idea how the game is ment to be played, so arguing with you is futile

you think when we win 10 on the trot its pardew, but out of those 10 games, 9 would be wonder goal one nil games, and you would scream he has got it right, when the fact would be we rode our luck

he could then go on and lose 10, and you would still poit to the 10 he won to say we can do it

i watched sunderland today, a team that did not look like a team 3 month ago, they were full of fight , invention, running,,
what is that stat, only 1 team bottom at xmas has stayed up, well sunderland are no 2 , he will keep the up, and the sad fact is , i would not swap many players, shola, williamson, and that is it

you think we are getting better under him, i arue this with many, even the ones who hate pardew as much as me, al he has done, is stoped the long balls and swapped it for passing it around in MF,, we dont and never have know how to break teams down under pardew,

it has taken GP only 3 month to stamp his game on sunderland
OGS at cardiff, he will get them playing and scoring, he is bringing good players in, and he will use there abilities in the right way

LDJ had to feed off scraps of long balls today, and think of this, pardew has been there over 3 years and in his words he is building his 3rd team,,

    some 5y plan

he has not got a clue

he is being forced out and has not got the balls to walk

  • 13 Klatoon // Feb 1, 2014 at 3:49 PM

How about considering that the talented players we have were responding in kind to the chronic lack of ambition shown by Ashley when he sold our best player and did not replace him.

Add to that fact that we had absolutely no cutting edge up front and that Sunderland are a team on a rapid incline, I think you can’t solely blame Pardew for this one.

worjordi how about chelsea twice man u twice just for starters!
how about you look at the squad available and the shit he has to deal with from the top and then deal with that squad who don’t know if there coming or going and then get us to a 5th and currently 8th position!??
that in its self is a miracle!
and then tell me the options he had today after a shocking window!?
tell me the attacking options that “TACTICALLY” would have give us the upper hand!?

  • 23 Mike's Iron Curtain // Feb 1, 2014 at 3:53 PM

We’re nigh on safe. There’s no better time to boycott and frequently protest, as it’ll do minimal damage to the club and is the only method available to fans that can dent MAs reputation and make the masses feelings known. It’s the only way we’ve ever elicited a reaction from him in the past, with demos and organised, focused upheaval – he publicly put the club on the market. We’re a better prospect for buyers now, if we can get him to do it again, who knows. Better than continuing in the same vein, rendering the whole club and our participation in the league pointless exercise.

No use been diffident disciples of a zombie club. Take a step back and look at the bigger picture.

The, they’ve paid for their tickets already so aren’t going to stop going point is very weak. If you paid a annual membership to strip joint and after a few weeks the girls were replaced by Mike Ashley doing his infamous sexy routine and the drinks replaced with Victory Gin, would you still continue to go because you’ve paid your fee and have a pass? Or would you be repulsed and thus repelled until normal service has resumed?

  • 26 pottsclock // Feb 1, 2014 at 3:54 PM

I thought Anita had a rotten game. It was almost as if he lost total confidence once he had given the penalty away. That’s not a good sign.
And Santon was particularly disappointing. Putting his defending aside, his crossing and kicking from dead balls was poor.
Overall, without Cabaye we look completely lost at dead balls.

It pains me after 26 years of supporting newcastle utd to say enough is enough.
I can not keep watching my team play pointless longballs, play players out of position and waste there potential and creative influence, sell our best players and not get in a replacement when they knew all of january he would be going, and continue to use shameobi who as people have allready said wouldnt even make a championship team.
Mike ashley is a leach sucking the blood from our great club and alan pardew makes decisions and uses tactics that would get a championship manager player fired.
I think this boycott talk is on the right track and the only way to get ashley out before we become the next leeds.

MYM and Willo were solid – Taylor only came in when Debuchy was suspended and MYM could move to RB – then MYM gets dropped – for no reason. Taylor is awful – we concede 3+ goals so often when he plays.

Pardew CANNOT start Steven Taylor or Shola Ameobi in this team ever. For that reason – he is to blame!!!

This was proof that Santon can’t hack it as a LW / LM and neither as a LB. He was shocking and his set pieces were just as bad. He should be dropped in place of either Dummett, Haidara, M’biwa or even Raylor when he comes back.

Why doesn’t HBA take our set-pieces he is by far our most technically gifted and can do much better than Santon ffs.

Gutted that we lost so badly, Pardew did say it was not all about the performance today but more important was the result, well Alan we got neither!!!

Boycotting and protesting is the basis. The intricacies and further plans can be evolved, we can think on our feet. Until the community has a consensus to get off their arses and do something, nothing will happen. You have to begin to question the self-proclaimed best fans in the world. Do most just now see NUFC as a casual hobby, something to do on a weekend? Maybe that’s MAs ultimate victory, when people stop caring enough to do anything other than submit, turn up and accept the status quo, because of a lack of imagination and pride.

Jonno Woodward seeing as you removed my post, I thought I’d try on here: Dear Newcastle United,

I have been a Newcastle Supporter all my life. I feel I speak for a lot of Newcastle fans when I ask for some clarity on a few points.

    1. What does Joe Kinnear offer to the club? I mean what is his actual role and how has it benefited us and seen us progress this season?

    2. After Joe Kinnear stated categorically that no player would be leaving this club in January, why was Cabaye sold?

    3. If Cabaye was sold due to an agreement in place to sell him in January, why did Kinnear point blank lie to the fans?

    4. If we knew Cabaye was going this month, why wait until less than a week before the end of the transfer window limiting our options to replace him?

    5. Who is in charge of signing players? We have received £60 million from the premier league TV rights, and just under £20 Million from the Cabaye sale, and yet have only seen two loan signings this year.

    6. How do the club plan to progress if we continue with the selling of our best players policy?

    7. Why are we the only club in the premier league to not sign a permanent transfer this year? It seems ludicrous to suggest after a rocky season last year, that the basis of the squad was strong enough to sustain the good start of the season we’ve had this year, when you remove the most influential player?

As a fan, I would appreciate a response to this, as I’m sure a lot of geordies would. Seeing as we’re not busy signing anybody I’m sure you will be free to answer this today surely?

    Regards.

  • 73 JackButler // Feb 1, 2014 at 4:09 PM

Strange how Liverpool fans forced a change of ownership and look at where they are now!!!

  • 74 Junior90 // Feb 1, 2014 at 4:09 PM

From another point of view, maybe Pardew got sick of this job and is trying to get himself fired with the tactics as well as the player selections.

Never mind about his CV cos he probably does not need to find another job with the compensation as surely it’s enough to last him and his family for the rest of their lives.

  • 75 niafron // Feb 1, 2014 at 4:09 PM

Anyway, not sure firing pard right now is a good idea.

For we got the whole football policy to change, and we can’t do that now.

A good idea would be to cast managers right now, but we will sign no one before summer.

The problem is: to make a good choice regarding the next manager, we need someone to take clever decisions.

And we fall again in the ashley situation.

Manx @ 1 and the rest of you Pardew haters…. when will you grow up and acknowledge that Pardew is not the cause of the malaise at Newcastle United.

Pardew is but an employee hired by and expected to work in extremely difficult conditions at times.

Just look back a few days, he, Kinnear and Ashley had known that it was highly likely that Cabaye would be away in January and despite Pardew’s wishes, Kinnear (who we were told had the ear of Ashley) didn’t persuade Ashely of the urgency of getting a replacement in or at the least, lined up. If indeed Kinnear even tried to ;persuad Ashely and I don’t think he did – being party to whatever agenda Ashley has.

Kinnear’s shipping or trying to ship players out on loan or sold left right and centre and that cannot help Pardew and team morale.

Pardew cannot be held responsible for yet another humiliation and anybody can tell bey his demeanour in the course of that interview that he’s been gutted by the whole Cabaye fiasco. Cabaye’s sale and the lack of a real effort to replace him, players going out, another loanee coming will have had a substantial impact on the players and they, like Pardew and the fans must be wondering just what the hell is going on.

Make no mistake, Ashley’s no business fool and he wouldn’t have allowed the Cabaye, Grenier, Cabella fiascos go without a head rolling. Kinnear’s still with us and from that I can only infer that the recent farce is acceptable to Ashely.

From that, we surely must infer that there’s something going on behind the scenes. Let’s just hope that he’s managing the finances to make the club attractive to a potential buyer.

Let’s hope that any buyer that’s considering taking the club on in honourable and shares the fans’ passion and ambition for Newcastle United. And that if he has a such a buyer lined up let’s hope that a sale’s completed soon.

But in the meantime Manx, Catchey and the other Pardew haters, get off his back and support the players – that’s probably the best direction for your pent up energy, yes?

  • 135 lochinvar // Feb 1, 2014 at 4:29 PM

Inept. High and long balls in swirling wind = loose possession. We don’t even anticipate where the ball will land from their defensive headers and hand possession back to the opposition turning our attacks into nothing so loosing any sense of momentum or pressure. These are basics that coaches teach school kids. Pardew needs to go – use part of the Cabaye money to do that and get someone in who can recupe that cost by finishing higher up the table and producing a team and performances that are expected.

How many times did we go long for shola to have nobody within 30 yards of him, what does he do even if he wins it, why aren’t we getting players forward.

Why aren’t we trying marv? look really good when he came on.

Yes it’s not easy losing cabaye, remy and gouffran all in a week but you need to adapt, no good just trying to do the same with players who can’t do it.

And yes santon had a bad game, but the last 6/7 in a row he has brought him off for either dummet or haidara, why on earth does he keep starting him if he’s coming off every week.

  • 149 Tsunki // Feb 1, 2014 at 4:35 PM

Well I did warn you all. Didn’t I? Since the end if last season I said that Pardew and Co would be judged on their performance by the Christmas period and what have we got? On the plus side, a reasonable mid table position. The minus side? Hmmm. Let’s see….

Three (count them) reasonably comfortable losses to one of the poorest Pl mackem sides ever, no cups. No consistency,no strength in the squad. A cash-in mentality to our player assets. A manager who is not at the required level to even consolidate a defensive display when his first team selection is compromised. No motivating power or pride in the shirt instilled within the institution of NUFC. A Botched and cobbled management hierarchy based on budgets and advertising revenue, product placement. The evacuation of all the club stands for and alienation of its own lifeblood, the fans.

Three are a lot of extreme views for and against the Ashley tenure, the middle is usually nearest the truth, which is where I believe I am. This is a ghost of a club, a disappointment on every level. The conclusion for me is that all this is Ashleys’ spiteful revenge for being widely rebuked for not having a clue about what a football club means. The whole SD – propelled hierarchy must be replaced or we will remain the bumbling laughing stock of English football.

  • 150 Transfer Sage // Feb 1, 2014 at 4:35 PM

I appreciate pardew doesn’t have the options he should, the idiots above him are not interested in backing the team beyond mid table.

but look at sunderland today, they couldn’t string 2 passes together at the start of the season, poyet comes in and they start playing decent football, much better than you’d expect from that 11.

A good manager gets everything out of his players, pardew doesn’t get everything out of them.

I appreciate it’s a futile argument as until we see what a better manager would do then it’s impossible to say 100% what these players are capable of.

But why can’t we do better than pardew? he’s a bog standard manager who has had 1 decent season in his whole career and that wasn’t even playing good football, it was defensive football with moments of briliance

  • 151 valle // Feb 1, 2014 at 4:35 PM

The annoying thing for me is that on occasions, west ham and norwich first half in recent weeks, we decide to put our foot on the gas, press high, close down, win the ball quick and have lads running behind and doing well….then all of a sudden we decide to go back to caution.

Why can’t he see what works? it’s not rocket science.

But then again with that fat git running the show pardew is the perfect man for him, no fuss and does enough to get by

There is an awful lot of anger on here an rightly so. The fat robbing bar steward will not be feeling one bit of hurt tonight-thats for sure.
We are all united with our voice regarding Ashley, now lets be united, NEWCASTLE UNITED with our feet. His 5 year plan is well, planning out perfectly, for him. And to think with some progress on the pitch – some off us thought that maybe just maybe there was a plan in place
The fat f er has been laughing at us the whole time.
His plan the whole time was to exploit our great club to promote his business.
The question us guys must try to fathom out is this: Has Pardew known all along what was going on and what way the cards were going to be dealt to him, and then face us with his smug face and lie to us time and time again.
Or is he just thankful to be in such a great club, but has not the balls to say enough is enough with this regime and walk out, because he will never get a job like it again.
I know what i think, the smug fk has known all along, all along.
He is always lapping it up when things are going well, he is never admitting fault when things are going wrong, his demeanour towards opposing managers strikes me as a man of complete disrespect for others, even those who are superior to him, and why? because he knows what is going on and he feels un-touchable.
We must vote with our feet

I think the whole team is in shock that we got nobody in to replace the on pitch leader and pivot for our team. So is Pardew.
If that isn’t enough to give our form a shake then the absence of our two best forwards in Goofy and Remy left AP with an even bigger problem – a major absence of ball playing options and a leaderless team with very limited creativity. The scum just couldn’t believe their luck.

Blaming Pardew (as the usual suspects bang on about endlessly and tediously) is way off the mark – team psychology is a complicated matter even if the blog sledgehammers can’t appreciate it.

We need another 18-20 pts to make our season respectable. Can’t quite see it just now as we are getting into a bad groove again. That is what lack of ambition does for you – sucks confidence, determination and guts and leaves a bunch of half hearted lads to grind out results in a tough league.

  • 164 Laurent Robert 32 // Feb 1, 2014 at 4:40 PM

ToonKing. Don’t start what? Highlighting the patterns which the team play and explaining them? We generally play containing football with emphasis not in the final third and use our skillful players to try and grab a victory via long range. (See shots inside vs outside box).

Now, with out two best individual goalscoring options not in the side, what else do we have to formulate a plan of scoring wonder goals? We have Hatem For a wonder goal, that is it.

That is a really sad way of playing football, as Poyet gladly demonstrated with a lot poorer players. He showed Pardew up for what he is, a negative manager with very limited tactical skills. Hang on… AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN.

Last year against Sunderland and Liverpool was the worst game I’ve ever been to.

Today, it was up there with them. All managed by Alan Pardew. The King of spin.

Again, Ashley is the real problem though, Pardew manifests the evil on the pitch through his own incompetance.

We organised our whole game round lumping the ball to the worst player on the pitch.

No wonder goals = we struggle to score, because of little regular teamplay IN THE FINAL THIRD.

    And we expect to win?

    Disgraceful.

I can imagine that Ashley did not want KK because he was a manager who demanded financial commitment to improve. Ashley gig Pardew and on the basis that he did not make waves in player deals, and simply kept us in the PL with the smallest budget manageable, he could have a very long contract. This is his it seems if will continue to pan out until Ashley has milked all that he can from the project of that revenue is starting to suffer due to adverse publicity.

Ashely’s running of the club has affected the team drastically. Shola should of been moved on, he’d probably not make it in league one. We don’t have winger’s who are good enough. This is why are team has no clue near the box. Pardew knows he wont get a better job. He won’t walk. Ashley is bending him over a table with the players we have bought and sold.

I do appreciate what you say, and yes Ashley is the main problem but it’s easier to change your manager than it is your owner.

The players should take stick too…but we sit deep as a team, that must be tactical (and if it isn’t then pardew can’t get them to follow his plans which is bad also)….we never have movement under him except the odd 45 mins here and there….look at sunderland today, poor players but poyet has them passing and moving and looking better.

he could have known cabaye might have gone, had an agreement so why not try and introduce marv, even just 10 mins off the bench the last few weeks.

it’s not a question of who else would i play, it’s more of getting these to play well in a system that works.

Just my opinion but if Ashley started looking for a new manager and laid down the law saying you’ll get no new players for 18 months and i’ll probably sell a couple toboot…I would still bet my house you would still get a lot of managers sticking their hand up for the job because we do have a good squad and you’ll be pitting your wits in the premiership with crowds in excess of 50,000 at home every other week.

Strangely enough lads that’d be enough for most young coaches and would have been enough for Potchy, Poyet and martinez…and I’ve have taken any of those three in the the last three years.

    Ben3Arfa, Transfer Sage et al.

I feel your pain as a fellow season ticket holder who, thankfully, wasn’t at the match today.

May I respectfully point out a couple of facts :-

    1. It is not mine or your club. It belongs to Mike A$h£ey who bought it from the previous regime.

    2. Mike A$h£ey is not a footballing man. I’m sure he would be the first to admit that.

    3. A$h£ey bought the club to either sell it on quickly for a profit, and failing that to promote SportsDirect.

    4. It is the TV revenues that are the be all for VA$h£ey. He wouldn’t be bothered if we played in front of less that 30k fans week after week.

    5. A$h£ey is quite content for us to finish anywhere above 18th. He only jumped into the transfer market in January 2013 because we were in extreme danger of being relegated. There’s no TV money in that!

    6. A$h£ey will keep Kinnear and Pardew for as long as we maintain a PL position. Kinnear will never stand up to A$h£ey about strengthening the squad. Why should he, and more importantly
does he even know who to get in. Pardew will not walk away from the best job he will ever have. Just stay in the PL, that’s all he has to do.
Should he actually walk away, Kinnear will take over. I just had goose pimples typing that. Although it would be the beginning of the end of for us.

    7. Sadly if A$h£ey knew even a little about football he would have appointed someone with such knowledge to advise. Like many fellow fans, I realise we cannot compete with Chelski, Manure, Citeh and Arsenil for money, but for a modest outlay we could assemble a team capable of finishing in top 6, and perhaps sneaking the odd CL spot.

    8. We will lose more players in the summer. Krul, Debuchhy, Cisse and Hatem. Bonus time for A$h£ey’s wallet. Do you trust Kinnear to bring in adequate replacements? I sure as hell don’t. Pardew won’t do much about it either.

    9. As a gambler, A$h£ey wil hope that we can maintain their PL spot. If it is going badly he’ll try and reinforce the squad in January 2015.

    10. A$h£ey won’t think about the situation where we could be relatively safe (say 14th) and then go onto a poor losing streak after the January window has closed.

This is the situation as I see it. The problem lies with A$h£ey and A$h£ey alone.

The problem is who will he sell to, and what state will our club in by then?

Hello, it’s Windy Miller. Plenty of wind in your sails today, Windy? What’s that Windy? Windy thinks there’s a problem? The sails aren’t moving. Windy stands motionless, looking at his sails for 45 minutes, wondering what he can do. Where are you going now, Windy? Windy disappears into his granary where he seeks help from Mary and Paddy Murphy. But Mary and Paddy don’t want to come out of the granary. So Windy watches the sails and makes notes in his note book. Are you ordering more corn, Windy? Windy shakes his head. Who’s this coming Windy? It looks like Farmer Bell. He’s throwing a ticket at you, Windy. That’s a good idea, Farmer Bell. Wave the ticket and make some wind. Windy shakes his head. What’s that Windy? Too much wind in your sails today, you say? Windy nods. Goodbye Windy.

Then like a good manager should do he gets the best out of what he has.

Poyet didn`t have the players Pardew had at his disposal yet played us off the park.

  • 267 GeordieTwo // Feb 1, 2014 at 5:39 PM

We were comprehensively outplayed. They made space, passed the ball and finished well. We were hopeless, especially in the final third. No real attack for the next 2 games at least unless De Jong finds his shot. We were surprisingly easy to strip the ball from as well. Both our fullbacks were beaten many times which surprised me on Debuchy’s side but not Santon’s. He has not developed at all as a player under Pardew.

Football is all about confidence, our confidence us shot cause of Pardews confidence is shot. Lost Cabaye who is laughing his head off, dont have a replacement which is hilarious.

We lack strikers, whats worse we dont gave any next year either Cisse could be sold, Remy is not dumb he wont sign and dont blame him. De Jong young kid who knows thats one striker. Fashley shows he has no idea about football as King Kev said he want 10 mill back for Cisse a flop.

  • 300 arpeco19 // Feb 2, 2014 at 8:16 AM

I haven’t watched the video, because I’m not interested in the drivel that comes out of his mouth. Mike Ashley is here for one reason. To make MONEY no other reason, he is not interested in winning trophies for our club(even though that’ll make him money!!!) he’ll be happy to finish between 7th and 17th every year so he receives a payout of £60m+. Being in Europa cup does not interest him because there is no MONEY involved in the competition. IMHO he is at Newcastle to fill his boots until Glasgow Rangers get back into the SPL then he’ll use the money he’s gained from NUFC to buy them as it’ll be a guaranteed way into the champions league. Where as I’ve stated before he’ll make more MONEY. There’s a pattern here. On the football side, what can you say about this muppet who manages this team? He classes himself as a tactical master, what were his tactics yesterday? Anyone have any answers to that? Why does he constantly play sissoko out of position? It worked for one away game so he plays him there all the time….Why have Ben Arfa track back all the time when he’s our flair player with an eye for goal.. Santon is not a fullback end of, he want to play higher up the pitch you can see that everytime he plays, solution, play Haidara at fullback with santon in front of him, build a partnership, like Enrique-Gutierrez. Yesterday’s team should have been 4-2-3-1.with it being flexible to going to a 4-4-2.. Krul, Debuchy, Williamson, Taylor, Haidara, Tiote, Sissoko, Marveaux, Ben Arfa, Santon, Luuk de Jong. It’s not rocket science, play people in their correct positions and they’ll play better football, don’t ask Ben Arfa to track back, leave him on the halfway line when we’re defending a corner. That is all..
