Some of the performances from Newcastle players on Saturday were just not good enough, and that’s the last time we want to see such a gutless performance from a number of our players and just a terrible combined team performance.
Alan Pardew – close your eyes – maybe it’s not really happening
But the damage is done now and we’ve been clobbered at home 3-0 for the second season running and it’s been yet another humiliation.
And when thew club are bringing in some players over the summer we need to get some leaders in who will perform in these important matches and it will not be too much for them.
This is what Alan Pardew said about the game, and he was asked if it was a case of Newcastle players not being motivated enough:
“I have got to be honest, I didn’t think that was the issue today too much.” (that’s a surprise) “We had some performances today from individual players that really bemused me.”
“Having that moment around the box where you take that little bit extra time and the composure.” “Maybe the pressure of losing the last two played a part today because we certainly rushed possession.”
Whereas at Norwich – and I am only talking about three days ago – we were very composed around the box.”
“Obviously in terms of the league position, we are okay. But today is a blow that is hard to take up here.” “Football and this particular fixture means so much to the fans, and it will scar the season for us.”
“But the only thing I can do is prepare the team as best I can for next Saturday, and that’s what I will do.”
Certainly in the last three game the Sunderland players have been a lot more motivated than the Newcastle players, so we have to think that was a part of it.
But remember also, that these three defeats have been inflicted when Sunderland have been in the bottom four of the league in every single one of the last three derby games.
That’s what makes it even worse, and it’s not that they have a good side, although it seems that it’s better than Newcastle’s.

Comment #161You have to ask yourself in times like these”Is it wrong to pay a group of local raggamuffins to enjoy themselves with some tins of black and white spray paint in sports direct?”
And then you have to tell yourself”No,is it f@ck.”

Comment #163TADS – My view is this: I fizz when people slag off fans as not true supporters because they won’t stay away from the ground to protest against the owner. When you enquire some more, I find most of them, for one soft reason or another, never go to games regularly and never will. As I said to Ernest, respect to him as a long term season ticket holder. I listen to and respect the opinion of people who are making a genuine sacrifice.

I would like to repeat BandB’s sentiments about keeping the faith. I’ve been slated for many different reasons – not being from the area, not attending games etc and it can get to you but you must remember that we have right on our side, and if you have that then you’re immediately at an advantage.
Some people are just on the wind up, which is easy on an internet forum. From my own discussions with a vast array of NUFC fans, very few have the notion of “you don’t attend so you don’t have an opinion” many are throwing in their season tickets, others are point blank refusing to go at all. These are all die-hard Newcastle United fans.
If only match-day attendees were “true fans” then we’d only have 52,000 whereas in reality, we have a global contingent of “true fans” of which you and I, and everyone here (give or take the odd Mackem who pops up) are one.

your big picture and mine are the same
but I think the easiest place to start is with the manager,
10 million or 300 million
and I do see the point about who he would choose , but I would be willing to gamble on the next manager being better than pardew short term
then set about getting new owners with real ambition, or at least enough to chase cups

I think the answer to that is probably no! It appears he’s not in charge of transfers as it is. If you remember KK’s Constructive Dismissal case, (http://www.theguardian.com/football/2009/oct/02/kevin-keegan-constructive-dismissal-newcastle), he won because players were foisted on him by Dennis Wise, who was appointed after KK was. That seems to be how MA wants transfers run though, so with the system as it is now, and Pardew having joined after it was set up, it would seem that he’s not in charge and was happy enough to sign up to that, although he claims he has a say.

Comment #170Markaccus – Don’t let the idiots chase you away. As you know I’m a ST holder but don’t think any less of people who don’t – it is only recently that I’ve been able to afford it. What I will say is there are certain things you see at the match that you don’t see on TV but apart from that we are all NUFC fans.

I agree no fans support should be questioned but for me that’s under any circumstance regardless of whether they go to games or live in the area
I agree that no fans should be told how to use there seat or ticket, no one should be forced to boycott or protest
But surely as someone who hates the your not a fan card you shouldn’t be playing it so willingly?
By all means defend your opinion it’s just sad to see so many posters now pulling out that line

That’s what we’e talking about short term vs long term. A manager may make things better in the short term, but what would be the point if it changes nothing long term? The same problems would exist only with slightly better football.
Blackley
Who has slated anyone for going to games? Previously I had strong views on boycotting, but that was before I moved to the area and before I spoke to fans about what it meant to them. I slightly altered my view in the sense that I won’t tell someone to boycott, but encourage them to think about how they spend their money.

i agree. Anyone who invests ANYTHING in nufc, even simply an emotional, passionate investment that has you shouting at a tv in the pub, should be seen as a fan. After all it means a lot. We were all gutted on saturday. And angry. Furious. Incandescant. Lots of anger synonyms.

We need at least 4 maybe 5 players in
If Remy does not sign – ain’t looking like it
2 forwards – not sure on Du Jong looked rusty on Saturday
1 midfield who can unlock defences.
1 centre half who attacks the ball
I DO THINK THAT SATURDAY’S performance was a direction changer in the future of NEWCASTLE UNITED

Comment #182A big reason we – as fans of the club – need to do something, is that if we don’t, the club will continue in this manner for as long as Mike Ashley wants it to go on. There is no end in sight. The lies, mediocrity, “affordable football”, the propaganda machine that is NUFC under Mike Ashley will continue.
Evil reigns when good men stand by and do nothing.
Let the good men stand forward, be counted and stand in unison to change the club for the better.
I’ve heard some people say stuff like “Newcastle have always been a selling club” or “it’s not as bad as it was in the 70s” or “it was worse when we sold supermac”. I find these sort of comments ridiculous. It like dismissing Nicholas anelkas quenelle gesture because anti-semitism isn’t as bad as when Hitler was around.
If we dont try and change the direction which the club is heading, things could well get a whole lot worse.

But Anelkas gesture could have meant anti-establishment. I don’t think someone should be done for something simply because of a ‘possible interpretation’. Its like when Hodgeson said “feed the monkey” and people took that the wrong way. Anelka always maintained why he made the gesture and did not try to.deflect the situation. People are too touchy now. Even tje swastikka is not actually an anti jewish symbol. It was originally a peice symbol whichbwas b@stardised.

you see though that is my point ,
we could replace a manager now and play better football, this short term could be 7 more years , and I carnt take that,
I could live with someone buying the players , and selling them, leaving the manager to pick from what he has,
you will never see me in here saying if we sign this player we could do this, it’s all ifs and buts, the manager can only work with what he has, and I think that what we have right now can do way better than we are,
there are many battles ahead , tackle them all,
and can I say , I’m not interested in finances, I’m not interested in how much any player is worth, I want to watch good football , we don’t need messi or Ronaldo to play good football, just a good plan

Really? I think you should read about the “comedian” anelka was copying. And read the views of French journalists.
There is a huge problem with anti semitism in France now. There is no defence for what anelka did. Racism isn’t a joke is it?
This isn’t really the point I was trying to make and it’s a subject I don’t want to get too much more into. If you feel people over reacte, that’s your prerogative.

Comment #193I agree that A$h£ey must go, and soon.
I don’t agree with a sit in for 2 reasons:-
1 It will be the poor stewards who have to try and cajole the supporters to leave the stadium. It’s not their fault we are protesting. Eventually the police will be called and things could get ugly.
2 A$h£ey would’nt care less anyway.
It would be better at a televised game for there to be a mass walkout at half-time, especially from the East Stand that faces the cameras.
Can you imagine the sight of an empty stand alongside the electronic advertising boards blazing out SportsDirect ads? That will certainly make headlines away from the back pages and ultimately reflect badly on A$h£ey.
IMO, A$h£ey doesn’t mind negative press for as long as it’s local and confined to the sports section. He’ll soon get the hump if the financial pages start making unfavourable comments about his handling of the Toon.
You can make a small dent in his income by boycotting the food outlets at SJP. I believe that they are let out for a fee to others. (Please correct me if I’m wrong) Once word gets round that the home fans are not willing to purchase food in the ground, no-one will take up the concessions. It’s only small, but a start.

Comment #194Why do players especially younger ones never seem to improve and lose any potential they have shown under this regime.
I wonder if a change in coaching staff would improve the situation and the current manager attend all training sessions as it is the only way to select the correct team and know their strengths/weaknesses which is crystal clear isn’t happening at present. Oh and a few lessons in tactics would be extremely helpful.
