There news being reported that Reserve team coach Willie Donachie has been suspended by Newcastle United, possibly for disciplinary reasons.
Willie Donachie – suspended by Newcastle?
The Evening Chronicle is reporting that Willie has been told to cease his coaching duties at Newcastle, and it is possibly for disciplinary related reasons, and there’s news he hit an U21 player during the defeat at Sunderland.
Certainly the Newcastle U21 team, which Willie is responsible for, have not fared well this season, and maybe that’s part of the reason Willie has been suspended.
The Newcastle U21 side is 3rd bottom of the league having won only three of their 13 games so far this season, and the youngsters have never fared too well, since Mike Ashley initiated a new emphasis on youth in January of 2008.
Nothing official has yet been forthcoming from Newcastle, so we’ll have to wait and see as to exactly what the status of the Newcastle U21 coach is, but it’s interesting this comes a few days after the Newcastle Board fired Joe Kinnear on Monday night.
There is also a report out that Willie Donachie actually struck 19 year-old local lad Remie Streete, when he conceded a penalty, which led to Sunderland’s first goal at the Stadium of Light.
Streete and his father Floyd, who was a former Wolves defender, talked to Alan Pardew after the game, and after that discussion – the suspension was issued.
Newcastle have to issue a statement on this, as it’s all over the news now, and they should get ahead of the situation.
But it seems more bad news for Newcastle and bad news seem to come like the buses – all together.
