Newcastle were not ambitious enough for midfielder Yohan Cabaye, and they are certainly not ambitious enough for on-loan striker Loic Remy, who will sign for a Champions League club when his season-long loan deal on Tyneside ends in May.
Loic Remy – Arsenal now interested
And there’s been news that Arsenal are interested in signing the 27 year-old striker in the summer, so he would partner his French International colleague Olivier Giroud, who joined the Gunners in the summer of 2012, when he was also a target of Newcastle’s.
Arsenal certainly need another striker in the summer to support Giroud, and Loic – as he did last year at QPR – has proved at Newcastle he can score goals in the Premier League, and he has 11 league goals in 22 appearances for the Magpies this season.
If Arsenal are really interested in Loic then they would probably be the favorites to sign the 27-year-old forward, and his price would not be too high at around £11M, but we also expect other top European clubs to be interested in signing Remy this summer.
Remy was almost a permanent Newcastle signing in January of last year, but chose to join bottom of the league QPR instead, although the London club were still relegated, even though Remy scored 6 goals in just 14 appearances for them.
So Loic now has 17 goals in just 36 appearances in the Premier League, which is an impressive record.
Newcastle have 23 year-old Dutch International striker Luuk de Jong on loan from Borussia Monchengladbach, and he could become a permanent signing in the summer if he does well, and the Tyneside club are also interested in long term French striker target Bafe Gomis of Lyon.

Comment #6Catchy – we’ve clashed in the past but you make some good points in your last post on the previous topic.
Here is a thought – instead of David Beckham wasting his time and money on American soccer why doesn’t he buy a proper football club i.e. NUFC 🙂
