This Striker Should Start Today At Chelsea

7:46 am, Saturday, February 8th, 2014 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 7 Comments

With Loic Remy still suspended for the next two games, and Papiss Cisse and Yoan Gouffran still out injured, the two strikers who will be available today  for Newcastle are Shola Ameobi and on-loan Luuk de Jong.

Luuk de Jong - should start today

And with Shola’s contract unlikely to be renewed this summer when it runs out, Shola is no longer the future of Newcastle.

So it makes a lot of sense to give Dutch striker Luuk de Jong a start today – so he can quickly get match fit and have a decent chance through the end of the season to show he can score goals for Newcastle.

It’s going to be a couple of tough games at Chelsea today and at home to Tottenham on Wednesday night, but Alan Pardew should be giving some chances to players who could be in Newcastle’s future.

And let us know how you think the game will go today – with everything that’s been going on at Newcastle this week – we’ve been a little late in putting out the poll.

    Morning lads lasses and Rebecca,

Regards to a change in style what I’d love to see would be the following for home games
    Krul
    Debs. Willo. Mbiwa. Danton

    Tiote. Siss

    Hbs. Marvs. Gouffy

    De Jong

The beauty if that is the interchangeability of the front 4 they could constantly second guess the defenders to the point where a midfielder would have to drop in, thus cresting 10 yards for sissoko to burst into. Even at away games bar the top 7 teams just go for it and attack it. If we lost 4-3 most weeks is still enjoy it at least : )

PARDEW is a goon, looking forward to more hoofball today, will probably pair Shola and De Jong and play 442, the football will be embarrassing and limited, looking forward to defending our 18yard line for the full 90 minutes.

    PARDEW OUT.

Chelsea need to improve their goal difference to stay in the title hunt.
City will improve theirs, look at their next few fixtures. Us…well we are irrelevant at the moment really. Just hoping we have mass exodus of season ticket holders, that can be the only success this season.

Armstrong is an option but not from the start,he has to get some game time and if were gonna get beat then let him on for 25 mins to find his feet.
De Jong won’t last the whole game anyhow.

On what basis is Shola included in any list of “Strikers” – its probably 6 years, or longer, since he qualified as one!!!
