Arma Is Great Talent – Something Very Special To Newcastle

9:21 am, Tuesday, February 11th, 2014 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 23 Comments

Alan Pardew talked a little but moire about Adam Armstrong yesterday, and it was Adam’s birthday – so he’s now 17 and the Newcastle manager joked that improved the bench a little bit.

Soccer - International Friendly - England U17s v Italy U17s - Pirelli Stadium

Adam Armstrong - special player

But the word on Adam is that he’s one of the most promising youngsters we’ve had at Newcastle for a long time.

Pardew talked about Armstrong at the beginning and at the end of his press conference for the Spurs game yesterday, and this is what he had to say about the local lad, who has played very well and scored goals for the U21 side this season:

“We had a 16 year-old on the bench, but he’s turns 17 today so that improves the bench a little bit – he’s a great talent and I look forward to seeing him and he’ll get a pass somewhere along the line and he’s someone we have really high hopes for.”

“Arma is a little bit different – we call him Arma that’s his nickname here – he’s got a little something special really in terms of his make-up, not just the way he plays and his finishes but his all round game.”

“And that marks him down as something very special to us, and someone we are looking forward to hopefully securing his long term future here – in the next few days.”

Alan has said he will probably give Adam a chance this season, and that chance could come tomorrow night.

That’s because in our next game against Aston Villa at home a week on Sunday, we should have Coloccini, Tiote, Cisse and Remy all back – and there would be much less chance of even seeing Adam on the bench in that game.

Comments welcome.

Don’t want pardew managing 1 more game let alone reach 200

Once again I come to last 6 games in PL i.e. after Stoke Victory

Games 6, Won 1 Lost 4 GS 3 (all in one game) 5 games W/o scoring

Can’t see who will score tomorrow

    honestly

its times like this where the guy should stay quiet and let the football do the talking

he is like an old bruce lee film where the words don’t match the lips

is it an achievement to finish above man u this season, no I don’t think it is, everton and spurs yes, but targeting 7th place, yippee,

I also take huge offence at him saying he wants to win a cup, when its as plain as the nose on his face he don’t want to, in fact even one of our very own players (harper) told us what his instructions are..

is this guy just paying mugs like manx, toonking and the clown from yesterday mojo lip service so they can dig themselves bigger deeper holes,

hope the lad does well but after cambell i wont praise the lad too highly just yet as dont want to heap pressure on him.

better chance of getting something out of this one than chelsea imo (in which we looked good imo)

but i’m hoping instead of marv coming on a sub he coud give armstrong a little game time as he will surely be of more use.

    @3 catchy

so you dont want to finish above manure ?

and every manager good or bad wants to win trophies its good for their careers. ( i know you believe pards needs to go and thats fair enough and what you believe and you could well be right who knows but you dont have to pick on him for every little thing)

I agree, marv doesn’t look interested, he should be busting a gut to impress and get a spot now cabaye has gone but he isn’t.

Let the young lad have 20mins and see what he can do, be a nice reward for his hard work.

    Catchy

How grown up of you to call me Mark ASS
Did that just come to you? You are a pathetic excuse for a human being, who thinks everything said and done at NUFC should reflect your own personal opinions. Anyone who disagrees with you in the slightest “doesn’t know anything about football”. You just CAN’T (not carnt) accept that not everyone sees things the same. You are entitled to your opinion, but not to impose it on others with abuse and insult. I have even seen you say you would like to “smack” a couple of posters. I’d love you to try. I reckon you are just an internet bully who couldn’t knock the skin off a rice pudding.

man u are a poor team this year by there stds, setting a goal to beat a poor team is not really reaching for the stars,
he should be looking past them and saying I want 5th,

if man u where fighting for the title then yes, great,,,

and like I said, sometimes, when your under fire, stay quiet, do your job and let the results do the talking,,

the guy only says what weak minded people want to hear, the ones who are total sheep

The gobshite said the same about Campbell. Pardew played him out of position in some big games and look where he is now. Warming a freezing bench in Scotland. And to boast about how we improve players at nufc! He’s taking the p!$$, he really is! The worrying thing is he believes it.

    Manx, from the other thread.

Do I think 5th is an achievement 2 years ago?

That year, both my dad and I agreed during the season that the football was not very good at all and defied the placing in the table.

We were fortunate that Cisse was coming in and still felt confident.

Although we scored some excellent individual goals, it was all about containment football. Although it was done fairly well and we got some clean sheets our enjoyment of football doesn’t come from watching a team sit back for almost 90 minutes and look clueless offensively.

I gave ol’ silver tongue the benefit of the doubt to wait ’til the following year (16th) to show it wasn’t just a fluke (probability) and he was building from the back to eventually play some good football offensively.

The opposite of that happened and all his excuses came out. This year, we have still looked clueless offensively for the most part and once again, Pardew contains and relies of individual skill to nick us points. Cabaye and Remy being out has proved that further. Without their ability to creat individual goals from nothing, our goals dry up and it was even drying up before Cabaye went.

That is not my type of football at all, it is not in the spirit of how I like to see football being played.

Manx, 5th is a one off for him and he had some good players to patch over his inability as a manager. The way he has them going about doing it is highly frustrating to watch and I don’t like him or what he has to offer. That simple really.

I know of someone that has worked with him in football behind the scenes and silver tongue is not a likeable man in their opinion and most of the other managers don’t like him either. Martinez on the other hand, is the exact opposite, and it is hard to find a bad work spoken of him.

Poor guy is hardly going to develop under pardew. he’ll go the same way as Campbell, Bigirama etc

  • 17 croftus5678 // Feb 11, 2014 at 9:46 AM

    @12 catchy

i agree at the start of the season if you have a decent enough team then 5th would be a good goal same as some silverware would but mid way without our top scorers and our main creative midfielder (in fact our only creative midfielder) i think 5th far too much bud.

Shhhhhhhh………listen…..just quietly…….and in case it had slipped by unnoticed……..PARDS IS SHINING US THE F@CK ON!!!!!!!

Must think we came down in the last shower.

Similar things were said about Campbell
and Vukic, where are they now?
Most of the youngsters over recent years
    have had International pedigrees at
various levels, yet they don’t succeed. The
same can be said about the current crop of
    youngsters – International pedigrees. Watch
and wait, there is something not right at
coaching levels. I am hopeful for Armstrong
but previous history is in the back of the mind,
can the club bring him on?

  • 20 Laurent Robert 32 // Feb 11, 2014 at 9:50 AM

The delusion that Pardew has be speaking of late about player development and surpassing the great Man Utd is on an Audley Harrison level.

    The man is absolutely delusional.

    TS

my own personnel opinion is , I don’t see it

what little improvements he may have made to some players I outweighed by the drastic loss of ability in nearly all of our players

it could be argued that perch an Williamson are his 2 great achievements, but then it could be said that they have stud still an the others have fallen backwards , just given the illusion they got better

  • 22 catchy in norway // Feb 11, 2014 at 10:05 AM

    croft us

I don’t understand your thinking , you don’t need a creative MF , not at all,
in fact if you would care to check how many points cabaye won us , it’s not that many, he had many games where you never seen him , and I’m betting if he had not have scored those 2 last goals there would not have been such an outcry,
he didn’t win many man of the match awards, tiote has won more,
and let’s face it he was promised a move, he was playing for it, and if he had not got it the toys would have came out the pram again,

what the focus should be on is how do we get our 3 good strikers scoring goals,

because that’s the real travesty right now , even with cabaye they where feeding off scraps,
