Alan Pardew talked a little but moire about Adam Armstrong yesterday, and it was Adam’s birthday – so he’s now 17 and the Newcastle manager joked that improved the bench a little bit.
Adam Armstrong - special player
But the word on Adam is that he’s one of the most promising youngsters we’ve had at Newcastle for a long time.
Pardew talked about Armstrong at the beginning and at the end of his press conference for the Spurs game yesterday, and this is what he had to say about the local lad, who has played very well and scored goals for the U21 side this season:
“We had a 16 year-old on the bench, but he’s turns 17 today so that improves the bench a little bit – he’s a great talent and I look forward to seeing him and he’ll get a pass somewhere along the line and he’s someone we have really high hopes for.”
“Arma is a little bit different – we call him Arma that’s his nickname here – he’s got a little something special really in terms of his make-up, not just the way he plays and his finishes but his all round game.”
“And that marks him down as something very special to us, and someone we are looking forward to hopefully securing his long term future here – in the next few days.”
Alan has said he will probably give Adam a chance this season, and that chance could come tomorrow night.
That’s because in our next game against Aston Villa at home a week on Sunday, we should have Coloccini, Tiote, Cisse and Remy all back – and there would be much less chance of even seeing Adam on the bench in that game.
