It was back in September and October of 1977, the last time we lost four league games in a row in England’s top league – then known as the First Division – and we lost 3-2 to West Ham, 3-0 to West Brom, 2-1 to Coventry and 2-1 to Derby County – before we took Chelsea apart 1-0 to stop the rot.
Alan Pardew – must stop the rot
And that was the season Newcastle finished second bottom with just 22 points from the 42 games and we were relegated.
his time we have lost four on the trot and never even managed to score a goal and lost 1-0 to Arsenal, 2-0 to Manchester City, 3-0 to Sunderland and now 4-0 to Tottenham – so we have conceded 10 goals and scored none – even worse than in 1977,
Alan Pardew must get his players together and get them playing again, and it seems to us the players are even depressed at losing their top player Yohan Cabaye last month – but they must pull out of this free fall – that’s their job.
And if Alan Pardew cannot get better performances out of the team that had some decent players in the side tonight, his position could come under jeopardy.
We have been beaten by Sunderland three times in a row for the first time since 1923, and now four league defeats in a row for the first time since 1977 – and we should point out that neither of these runs are at an end yet. 🙁
Yes we are short of Coloccini, Tiote and Remy but the displays have been poor at best, and we were only three players short tonight.
It’s up to Alan Pardew, the coaching staff and the players to stop the rot – and start earning their wages.
