Newcastle Negotiating For Top Transfer Target

There are reports of a deal again being negotiated between Newcastle United and Montpellier, for the French club’s talented 17 times capped French U21 midfielder Remy Cabella.

Remy Cabella – Newcastle moving after this player

We hope this is indeed the case, and that Newcastle could tie up a deal soon for the 23 year-old, who was one of our targets last month but no deal could be reached.

The Montpellier Chairman Laurent Nicollin, who sometimes seems a difficult man to deal with, seems sure there will be some deal in the summer for Newcastle to take one of his very best players.

And a major reason Nicollin didn’t want to sell in January was the Chairman didn’t want to pay a heavy tax bill to the French government, and he will now sell sometime from July 1st, which is the start of the next financial year in the football world.

Cabella could be a decent replacement for Yohan Cabaye, who joined Paris Saint Germain in January for £20M, but we expect Newcastle to possibly bring in a couple of play-makers to fill the huge void left by Yohan Cabaye.

And it seems Newcastle are now paying the price for the dumb decision to sell their best player halfway through the season, without bringing in a replacement.

Only at Newcastle. 🙁

The 23-year-old is valued at around £14M, which seems a high price for the player,  given that we paid only €5M for Cabaye in the summer of 2011.

But of course we also have received £20M for Cabaye, and Newcastle will need to spend that money in the summer and a lot more,  if the club are going to improve their team for next season.

Blackley – I really was oping your battery was running out. Can you not do fellow bloggers a favour and add a bit of variety to your posts – you seem to be obsessed with “fencing” with Ciaran. Really it’s becoming a bore.

Unfortunately, given our performances during the last 2 transfer windows, the chances of this tale being true are slightly less than Ibiza being declared a virgin.

Then again, stranger things have happened. Hows the Buck Truck Ibiza – when you heading out our way??

This is never going to happen, out of our price range for starters.

Think the January interest was all for show tbh

    Why so cynical lads?

Granted we haven’t paid for a player in over a year.
Granted we have no senior figure left at the club whose job it is to negotiate and then buy players.
Granted at £14m it would be the most expensive signing ever under Ashley.

    But still…why the cynicism?

Graeme…This holy day is no time to bring up my sexual status!

As for the buck truck, I already have the VW Cyril van and the Venga bus…is that not enough?

Honestly hate to be a doom and gloomer but who on earth will want to come to Newcastle who is half decent! If you were one of the most promising talents in your country and Newcastle came for you would you go with the current cesspool of a hierarchy we have at the moment! I bet Mapou doesn’t think we are a stepping stone club now lol!!!

Kamikaze – contrast the position you describe with the position where we finished 5th. If they had wanted to strengthen – coupled with an ambition to progress -people would be queuing up to come to SJP.
When trying to sell the club to young prospects -really we have reached the point that we have nothing to “sell” to them. We are really a laughing stock -which will take time to shrug off.

I don’t know if you have caught on amongst the drama this past few years..

But we are a selling club now, a stepping stone club. Bring in players cheap on lower wages, sell them for a large profit, clean the wgae bill and start over again from france.

We are perfect for such a player who does not have any top four clubs across the continent looking at him at present.

Cabaye, Ben Arfa, Debuchy, Sissoko, M’Bwia, Gouffran, (Remy) if we had of signed him permanent last yr. De Jong also. Do you really think these players want to end there careers at NUFC? They arn’t stapling there futures here, it’s an inbetween. They have been sold false hope (but with an escape route) because if they do well, they will be plucked. They have nothing to lose, they are in trouble in their careers.

Lack of ambition, but great if you want to make money. That is, so long as they do well.

Shame we do not see any of the money to forward NUFC upon their sales or when it MATTERS.

Slimey to say they least. But, atleast we are financially ok as a football club. Sigh.

Lee Charneley is doing all our negotiating, he needs to also be held accountable for our lack of transfer activity. Ashley managed to land one of the cheapest men to run the clubs finances and its costs us dearly in the transfer market.

As for Cabella, hes more of a HBA replacement to be honest.

Doesnt have the range of passing needed for a useless manager like Pardew to utilise him.

Ed, thought we’d agreed that you’d drop the Cabs issue. We didn’t? My mistake 🙂 The lad wanted out for a while, we ‘bought’ a few months, good riddance. Simple. We should have bought a couple players though, at least to show intent, agreed on that.
We need two CF’s, one creative MF, two wingers, pronto! That’s not too bad, we are not too far… Maybe (ok, probably) a new manager too.

I have a bit of a strange feeling about all this !

Unlike us Monpelier would not to prepared to sell their Star players and Talent in the Middle of a season because unlike Us!

Montpelier, would make sure that a decent replacement player was in place before negotiating any Transfers and totally wasting a whole Season where by keeping a winning Team together could of meant an outside chance of European Competition and to join the Top Clubs in France ! Cabaye, in my humble opinion, was worth Twice as much than waht he was sold for, and will be one of the Major Stars in this WK this year? Mark my words!

I watched a post yesterday on here, the other day, with a report from Keegan and Waddle with reactions to the sacking of Chris Hughton and tp Pardew,s takeover as Trainer. the report spoke volumes, and the situation from back then has still not changed !

Ashley is ripping the Heart out of this Club!

We are not working to a 5 year plan, we are just never going to achieve what we want when the rest of the League are willing to go that extra 500 000 to get a Transfer target or are not willing to be flexible with a workable pay structure, look what happened with Remy ! There is no 5 year plan or even any plan at all, the next few seasons we may push and play our way into a top six position only for the Owner to cash in and Screw up another season. Where is the point and the Ambition in all this? Mid table Mediocraty, with max Profit for Fat Ash and almost a whole lifetime of Hope !

So, if you don,t believe me watch this report with the Keegan speech, and Waddles comments about Ashley and Llambs Arse and start building up the same sort of Frustration which i have built up over the last season and a half.

Its widely reported that we are Financially Healthy ? But what is the point of being financially healthy if the Club is not performing and losing games, in the second half of what could have been a step up to the big boys in the league.

I have now, serious doubts about the direction we are going in, if that was not the case before, the summer may see more Good players leaving with more cheaper players being lent on the short Term to fill the Gaps. This is all part of Ashley trying to get back, with Profit, of course, the Millions he has pumped into the club to run it as a Business !

We fickle supporters, who fill the Stadium every home game, can only expect more of the same in the next few years !

As for Cabella, he will end up going to Hull or Swansea or Stoke or even Chrystal Palace or somewhere else where ther is an ounce of backbone and Ambition to win something or play in Europe?

We are not in that Ballpark with the present regime in charge !

    Toon Prodigy,
We were always a selling club and a stepping stone, even in our halcyon days, mate. BUT, if we make the next grade (not too far off, maybe 4 players, which is ok).

We were 4 players away in the summer we finished 5th.
We would have had almost the same team as 1st part of the season + Ba.
Instead of arguing on numbers and player names, the point is we are always 2 players away, then sell, then get back to 4 more needed.

Crystal Palace and Hull have more ambition than us? Dude, I share your passion, but that’s stretching it. They only have one goal as we speak and we don’t have to worry about that one, at least not this year.

People saying that our squad has improved since 2 seasons back, please compare the improvement with likes of southampton everton swansea.
Even norwich have tried harder with lesser success. We will be as good or bad as them without collo cabaye and remy.

The supporters have the Ambition, and bags of Potential, but can you really see us getting in four players any time soon !

It will be more likely that four will be leaving, without replacements brought in?

Cabaye wanted to play for us, and started making his name with us, and was wanted to leave again this summer, it could of bee Arse enal for 30 Mil and it ended up being PSG for 19Mil ! At PSG he will at least have a chance of winning something and then moving back to UK, more than likely he will end up at Manure or Chelski in a few years time with a 50MIL FEE BEING PAID BY ONE OF THOSE TWO !

We will continue being linked to about 150 different players every Window? And will continue with our Finacilally successful Mediocraty, and Cashley laughing all the way to the bank every time a window comes around?

Most of us, understand this, and Football wise, the club is empty, and will be sold by the time the next relegation fight comes around, i predict maybe the end of next season !

    Nice being a Mag eh?

We still need another 5 points to be certain of staying up. We don’t score any goals and we can’t keep a clean sheet…. It’s not all over by a long stretch.

All this talk of Cabaye being worth 30 million or even 50 million, the truth is he’s a good player, not a great one. He might have been our best player but that doesn’t mean he’s a world beater. I predict he’ll have a solid world cup then fade away at PSg.

    Och Yeh !

It does,nt matter, at the end of the day , the only plus which Ashley brings is Prem Leagur status, and a wish to be the stepping stone for totally unknown players who wish to make their names with us? Like Carroll, like Cabaye, like Tiote, like Krul, and Ben Arfa too? Prem League status means TV money and Ashley knows that fact all too well?

Under a new regime with another Manager, and dare i say it, in the Champinship? Which may well happen? in the next two seasons? Clubs like Southampton and Swansea were almost Bankrupt not too long ago?
The question is how far will Ashley bleed us for Profit before he sells us? and jumps ship!

One thing is certain though? Once a Mag, always a Mag !

I still think we’re being readied for being sold.

I think Ashley would rather let the new owner sack Pardew so whoever buys the club pays Pardew off.

I think the new buyer told Ashley to sack JFK when he did.

I think Ashley knew there was no point in buying anyone because that money would simply have been lost with the price having already being agreed to sell the club…and that’s why he took the 19 million for Cabaye and trousered it.

It’s the only rationale that makes any sense because what’s the point in investing in new players and a new manager when there’s a purchase being thrashed out.

    I live in hope

We only bought Cabaye for £4.5 million because he had a low buy out clause otherwise he would have cost us at least double that

We all live in hope mate, but just occassionally there is a slight lean towards depression but never desperation, or at least not in my case!

@28: Cabaye was scouted by Carr long before he came to us? Plus he actually wanted to come and play for us too.

Compare that if you will to Remy, who, for the sake of an extra 25K a week preferred to play in the Garden Shed which is Loftus Road in front of about 30,000 less public ?
No disrespect to QPR as one of my mates here in Holland is a life long supporter of QPR.

Its all about the Money, and not about the Football at all? If we had an owner throwing Billions at the Club like Shitty or Manure or Chelski we would be up there too bidding 50 Mil for players too?

All a bit sad really, but thats just the way it is and it aint gonna change for us any time soon? 120 mIL for Gareth Bale, not playing anywhere near as well as he did for the Spuds?

We just cannot compete with that Capital, at all at the moment?
