Thanks For The Memories – This Player Gone In The Summer

Alan Pardew has never managed to get the best out of Hatem Ben Arfa, even though the manager and the fans know that this player is simply blessed with sublime football skills, and he’s already scored maybe three of the best individual goals scored by a Newcastle player – ever.

hatem ben arfa flying

Ben Arfa – will still leave some great memories for Geordie fans

Ben Arfa is not good at defending, which is what the manager demands of every player in the Newcastle side, and while the 26 year-old Frenchman has improved greatly in his work-rate over the last couple of seasons, he still doesn’t seem to be cutting it, in Alan Pardew’s eyes.

And with Yohan Cabaye leaving last month, it seemed that Ben Arfa could play that withdrawn striker role, the number 10 position for Newcastle, and it seemed like a great chance for the French International, who was desperate to come to Newcastle when he signed back in August of 2010 – initially on loan.

But Alan Pardew chewed out Ben Arfa in the dressing room last Wednesday night,  for his lack of effort in the second half of the game against Tottenham, and with Newcastle again struggling,  it’s always difficult to field a player like Ben Arfa – who is sublime but does lose possession quite a few times in any game.

So it looks with just one year left on his contract, Ben Arfa will be sold in the summer, and some top clubs will be in for him, because top teams  can better accommodate a player with Ben Arfa’s class even if he is a little frail defensively – because he’a match winner – plain and simple.

Inter-Milan are said to be only too willing to take the lad in the summer – and it would appear he will be joining a club with Champions League football next season – so even though he hasn’t been an out-and-out success at  Newcastle, he’s still likely to join a bigger club when he leaves the Magpies.

In the twelve games remaining this season, Newcastle fans should probably savor this player – he’s brilliant and sublime – but he will be sold in the summer, so that he doesn’t become a free agent a year come June, when Newcastle will get nothing for him.

Remember these days that football is all about money – especially at Newcastle – that’s sad but true.

Finally, Ben Arfa actually has a good record at Newcastle, and in 81 appearances he’s scored 14 goals – some of them just out of this world – and he also has 19 assists.

That’s not too bad at all.

What do you think?

No. I am not saying that. Poorer clubs at least look like they are trying to actually win stuff. We dont, and neither do arsenal. This is just my opinion.

I would definitely keep Pardew over any of our players!

…players can be replaced – Pardew cannot 😉

I don’t agree that it’s Ben Arfa’s inability to track back and defend that’s an issue, it’s his decision making process. Give it to him on the halfway line in a counter-attack and he’s not going to hold onto the ball and play a clever pass, he’s more likely to try to beat 3 players and lose the ball. So his teammates can’t trust him. Burst into the box and he’s going to go for goal rather than trying to square it for a teammate.

Poorer clubs that us are still putting our weakened squads in the cups because they need to stay in the PL.

When we lost to Cardiff, we played Elliot, Santon, Haidara, Saylor, MYM, Tiote, Sissoko, Anita, HBA, Goofy and Cisse. Hardly a weak team and should easily have been enough to beat the Cardiff side

Ed, are we going to be able to field a team next season? Judging by your articles over the last few weeks the whole squad seem to be leaving!

We’re not as rich or established as Arsenal though. They have worked hard for years to be where they are.

    Ed

he is not a defender , he is an attacker , he defends from the front, he offers us more in defence from the from than any one of our defenders we have, he also contributes with goals and assists

so what he is not hazard or ozil, but then again he did not cost crazy money either

Ronaldo cost 80+ million and he don’t track back he is greedy , he would be no good in our team

    we do have some idiots,

pardew has not only pardewed the players but he has pardewed some I the fans, finances and defending , yeh the future of football

Liverpool, Man Utd, Arsenal and Spurs have had solid success over the last 10 years in terms of league finishes. So have Chelsea and with the money that they and City have invested, it’s incredible that they’re allowed in the same league!

Everton have had slow and steady progression but look at their seasons. How excited would many of you have been to be Everton fans over the last 10 years? Yes, their chairman has more charisma in his little finger than Ashley does, but it’s only very recently that they’ve had exciting players in their team.

Sadly HBA flatters to deceive – shame, as he has all the skill but still hasn’t learnt decision making which is why he’ll never be great – bit like Robert back in the day although I think Robert had a better goalscoring/assist record

Cups aren’t about the best team, they’re a lot about luck. In terms of percentages, how many trophies are won by teams outside the big 4 at the time? And we’re one of many clubs who should be in with a shout then.

I wish we could just win a trophy…then it might make people more patient…

There have been a lot of complaints about Manly Men Inc.’s latest product the Extend a Nos, for manly flared nostrils all the time. Let’s review their use: 1. insert 2. activate while moving hands quickly away 3. prepare for fully extended nostrils. Beautiful. Now I also have to remind everyone that no returns are accepted and no refunds made if you have used this product in the wrong orifices. Please lads, I mean really! 🙁

Before everyone starts blaming pardew. HBA has had this problem his whole career.
He can be unplayable or disastrous. He’ll never shake off that tag, he’s just one of those players.
    Shame really.

Just read the remy article .

I don’t think he’s good enough for arsenal, I think they’re after bigger fish

He’s not going to get in liverpools side ahead of Sturridge or Suarez.

I seriously doubt psg are interested as money wise they are the man city of Europe.

I don’t think he’ll have a load of bigger clubs after him. Not saying he’ll sign for us, just don’t think there’ll be this big list that he thinks.
