Arsenal Open Talks With Loic Remy’s Agent

There’s a report in the Metro today, that Arsenal have contacted Loic Remy’s agent Frederic Guerra, with a view to signing the French striker in the summer.

Loic Remy – in French colors

Arsenal need another out-and-out striker to support Olivier Giroud in the goal-scoring duties at the Gunners, and Loic has shown he can score goals in the Premier League, with 11 goals for Newcastle in only 22 appearances,  and 6 goals for QPR is 14 appearances.

Newcastle shot themselves in the foot last month, of any chance of having Loic Remy sign permanently for the club, when we sold Yohan Cabaye to PSG and let everybody know that Newcastle United’s ambitions are limited at best in the Premier League.

In fact, those ambitions seem to finish in the top half of the league every season – how boring can you get? 🙁

Loic is an excellent player, and will get Champions League football at Arsenal, who have been a top four club in England every one of the 17 seasons French manager Arsene Wenger has been in charge of the famous London club.

And some Arsenal supporters still complain about the manager?

Pardew had this to say in January about Remy:

‘The plan was always that he would be on loan for the year and we had a deal with QPR that that would be the case.” ‘We would like to do it permanently but there is a long way until that happens.”

‘It is not quite as simple as meeting his release clause, as the player and his agents need to make sure it is right for the player and we have to honor that.’

But that statement was before Newcastle surprisingly sold Cabaye last month, and if Loic had any doubts about Newcastle’s ambitions, he will not have them now – and the Tyneside club has no chance of signing the 27 year-old Frenchman this summer.

That’s unfortunate – but there’s just no way he will sign for Newcastle when top clubs like Arsenal interested in him.

What do you think?

I’d be very surprised whether they would be allowed to do so,without either QPR or our permission?

won’t need our permission, maybe QPR’s but might have it…might have told his agent he can do anything.

Also agents work with so many players it would be impossible to prove if a club met to talk about a certain player. who’s going to blow the whistle? both the buying club and the agent want the talks so will keep quiet.

i agree. While he is still here i hope he still gets some goals. Hopefully he will want to impress arsenal and seal his move. I am looking forward to seeing how him and LDJ work together. Luuk seems to be a perfect foil for a player like remy to feed off.

Think I read something (probably via this site) that suggested that if Remy goes elsewhere, for more than the sum we agreed with QPR, that we benefit from the difference. Did I just dream that?

TS Pardew mentioned meeting a release clause but I think it will come down to what the player wants and it seems unlikely to be us.
Estecho, not read anything like that and would be amazed if it were the case. Can`t see why QPR would agree to that.

I presumed that was last year? I thought kinnear said there was no fee agreed for the end of the loan….but then again that was kinnear so no idea.

Either way he won’t be coming to us next year, he’s an ambitious lad and we offer neither trophies, champions league or money.

On the Marveaux discussion, no matter if he’s of a certain standard or not, he’s the best we have at laying on a final ball and playing short to medium accuracy passes.

He’s our round peg for the round hole in that position.

Tds, regardless of Marveaux history, I’ve seen at the match what he CAN do with opening up defences with a little pass. His motivation has been wrecked long before the current lack of running in him.

As I said earlier, without Marveaux’s match winning passes to Cisse, we’d have been relegated.

He hardly played last year but gets 4 assists. Jonas played all the time and got none.

Product helps us to get points. Hard work alone will just manage to hold out for at best a draw.

Marveaux is the best we have for number 10, so he should be played there. Hatem seems to get a bit lost with number 10 at times. If instructed correctly he could work there.

Try not to put Marv in, as regardless of what side of the fence you are on, we know he is not going to play a part.

    4411

    Debuchey
    Colo (if fit)
    Willo
    (Any LB but not santon)

Socks (has done well on the wing)
    Tiote
    Anita
    Goofy

    Ldj
    Remy

If it isnt working, then switch to 433 with remy and goofy playing off ldj.

You say that about Remy and yet he signed for QPR when everyone except ‘Arry’s doting fans in the media thought they would go down. No CL clubs showed a strong interest last summer either.

Frankly I don’t believe this story. You can’t be involved with transfer dealings outside of a window, unless your contract is in the last six months.

You’re awfully depressing lately Ed. There is still hope we can sign this player if we show ambition in the summer.

Signing Cabella in the summer is a step in the right direction to convince any player of our intentions. Hopefully those reports are true.

Though sadly I do see Remy as a mercenary and will only go where the money is good. We don’t stand much of a chance if Arsenal are indeed after him. But we could always replace him with better, it’s not the end of the world.

sorry to but in, but i am sure that you can arrange transfers at any stage in a players contract, as long as everyone is happy for talks to take place. Once you are in the last 6th months, ANYONE can approach you and your club cannot prevent talks whether they like it or not.
    I could be wrong though.

I’d imagine QPR have given permission to Arse to talk to Remys agent.

Although Newcastle have an option at the release clause price, it expires at end of season and Remy doesn’t want to sign for the toon.

QPR will receive more money from Arsenal as they don’t have this option

Good deal for QPR, Arsenal and Remy
    Bad luck for Toon

Can do a deal whenever you like, just can’t transfer the player’s registration until the transfer window opens.

Agents represent 100s of players, a good chance his agent has players at arsenal already, so nothing to stop you talking, who would know which player it was about.
