There’s a report in the Metro today, that Arsenal have contacted Loic Remy’s agent Frederic Guerra, with a view to signing the French striker in the summer.
Loic Remy – in French colors
Arsenal need another out-and-out striker to support Olivier Giroud in the goal-scoring duties at the Gunners, and Loic has shown he can score goals in the Premier League, with 11 goals for Newcastle in only 22 appearances, and 6 goals for QPR is 14 appearances.
Newcastle shot themselves in the foot last month, of any chance of having Loic Remy sign permanently for the club, when we sold Yohan Cabaye to PSG and let everybody know that Newcastle United’s ambitions are limited at best in the Premier League.
In fact, those ambitions seem to finish in the top half of the league every season – how boring can you get? 🙁
Loic is an excellent player, and will get Champions League football at Arsenal, who have been a top four club in England every one of the 17 seasons French manager Arsene Wenger has been in charge of the famous London club.
And some Arsenal supporters still complain about the manager?
Pardew had this to say in January about Remy:
‘The plan was always that he would be on loan for the year and we had a deal with QPR that that would be the case.” ‘We would like to do it permanently but there is a long way until that happens.”
‘It is not quite as simple as meeting his release clause, as the player and his agents need to make sure it is right for the player and we have to honor that.’
But that statement was before Newcastle surprisingly sold Cabaye last month, and if Loic had any doubts about Newcastle’s ambitions, he will not have them now – and the Tyneside club has no chance of signing the 27 year-old Frenchman this summer.
That’s unfortunate – but there’s just no way he will sign for Newcastle when top clubs like Arsenal interested in him.
What do you think?

I’d agree with that just don’t think it’s 100% down to Pardew

krul
debuchy, wilo, mbiwa, haidara
sissoko, tiote anita, gouff
ldj and remy
That’s our best CB partnership, most successful (especially seeing as colo won’t be 100% match ready) and haidara looks good when alongside mbiwa.
sissoko has done his best work on the right for us this year.

It will be interesting to see the reaction of the players against Villa, as Pardew ripped into them but we are being told that he has lost the dressing room so will his temper tantrum really matter that much?
This weekend could be the biggest game of the season for us

Yeah I kn ow to never believe old floppy chops, but I think I read somewhere that their chairman had said if we win promotion back into the premiership we may want to keep Remy at this club. or something like that. Either way we won’t be keeping him so another 4 year striker hunt must begin.

Comment #46I see the Official Club site has just announced all the special deals and ‘super reductions’ on season tickets to entice the fans back into SJP again next season.
Come on lads roll up for another few seasons of non-investment and having the p**s taken out of us again by Ashley. You know it makes sense.
Hell – we never learn do we?

Tbh I think Remy only ever saw QPR or us for that matter as a stepping stone to a champions league club. Players hold all the power these days and will get the move they want one way or another

Comment #51Marveaux has his own flaws, but for me, Pardew has ruined what could have been a good hit and miss player with product into a totally de-motivated and non-productive one.
Again, his assists kept us up. He was usually re-benched after his match saving performances. He should have been valued higher than that. What we see now, is the end result of mistrust, misuse and isolation.
Put him in an attacking line up where there is definite strategy, coaching and where he has the belief that his role is important, and I’m sure the assists and a few goals will come and as a result, his lethargy will subside considerably.

I agree, and I fear a mass exodus from the club this summer, our players all seem to be unhappy with the current situation and ambition from the club. they must feel the effects of negative football, poor distribution from Krul, and defending a game for 70 minutes out of 90. My gut says poor finish to the season, my heart still beats in hope, but we shall have to wait and see.

Comment #53The right side of midfield with either Albright or Wiemann is a big worrying factor, if Pardew plays Santon at Left back then he really needs to have a word with himself, a left back who can defend on Sunday is top priority MYM might be the option as he has the pace.
Sissoko and Goofy Defo for us, Tiote and a another in CM I think that will be too much for Villa.

Pardew has always favoured workhorses over flare players, thats something he’s done at every single club he’s managed and that is one of the biggest reasons that he has never achieved anything in the game

I love Marveaux but I fear Pardew likes even his Attacking midfielders to be strong and defend when they haven’t got the ball this is where Marveaux struggles, event Cabaye struggled and was a bit wreck less at times.

This season is now a right-off and we will limp to the summer when as you say, we will see an exodus of players that will leave us facing the terrifying prospect of what will happen next season. We are rotten to the core.
Laurent
Pardew can shout and scream as much as he like’s at this point, the fact remains that he isn’t getting the best out of a single player at the club

Rightly so too, they were poor. Tactically we weren’t good but the lack of effort is terrible to see…these poor tactics have got us plenty points and wins when the players apply themselves, no matter how bad we are tactically we shouldn’t be shipping that many goals at all.
I think there will be a reaction and we will get a win.
I agree on remy too, think he say us and QPR as stepping stones. Chose QPR as they offered him a release clause (something we wouldn’t have done after Ba and we sell high so he’d have to wait for the big offer to get his move).

Santon is the least defensive defender i have ever seen.
He is right sided for a start, and i think he is better as a winger. I think you are right that he will be ripped appart if he plays at LB on sunday

Season ticket holders are able to cancel their direct debit this month and still go to games for the reminder of the season, as the March payment that is taken out is the first for next season.
some reports are saying that there has been mass cancellations over the past few weeks so the season ticket price freeze is in direct relation to the fans reaction

From a players point of view though if you have a manager ripping into you when he is getting things wrong himself then his words carry far less weight.
Personally I think the whole lot of them are a disgrace to the club manager and players alike, but then with Ashley as the main man is it any wonder that things stink to high heaven????

spot on with that last line…as soon as you devalue cups and rubbish pushing for europe, then back up these actions by stifling progress then it rots the club.

It’s sickening that we see the cup’s and Europe as something to avoid simply as the financial returns are not worth the effort to the owner.
Whatever happened to winning something for the pride of lifting a trophy? Now we look at how much we can make from something first or how much it will cost us.
