If we look at who are the best players left at Newcastle after Loic Remy leaves the club this summer, most fans would probably say Mathieu Debuchy is our best player, and certainly he has had an outstanding first full season on Tyneside, and has quickly become a better player.
Mathieu Debuchy – leaving Newcastle this summer?
But there’s some bad news today for Newcastle fans (what more bad news?), in that Debuchy seems unsure of where he will be next season, and he has already been linked with a move to European Champions Bayern Munich recently.
And we cannot think it helped last month, that his best friend Yohan Cabaye, who had persuaded him to move to Newcastle during the European Championships almost two years ago, was sold for £20M to PSG.
It will not have gone unnoticed by Mathieu that Newcastle seem to lack ambition.
Mathieu has been speaking to the French media today, and he was invariably asked if a move to PSG to join his friend Yohan would interest him, and then about Yohan’s move to the Paris club last month:
“PSG? I am here at Newcastle until the end of the season and for next year, I do not know.”
“This is a great loss for us so obviously I was sad but I cam happy for him because PSG is a great club.”
“I had the opportunity to talk a little with Yohan Cabaye and it is clear he is really happy there.”
Mathieu has a five and a half year contract that lasts through the summer of 2018 at Newcastle – so that response does not fill us with great confidence that he will still be at Newcastle come September.
It was a really dumb move by Newcastle to sell Cabaye last month – and it only sent a very clear message to the players (and fans) that Newcastle lack ambition – so the best players at Newcastle will now be looking to leave in the summer.
It seems that Loic Remy and Mathieu Debuchy will be two of them that will leave Newcastle for bigger and more ambitious clubs in the summer.
And don’t think that Yohan is not telling his best pal how great things are at PSG, and that playing in the Champions League is terrific. 🙁

Comment #47I am just gutted that it looks like our team that had so much potential a few years ago has crumbled with the loss of Cabaye, and it looks like it will only get worse .
If we kept hold of our best players we could have still had this team today :
—————————–Krul——————————-
–Debuchy——–Collo———M;biwa——–Enrique–
————-Sissoko————————Tiote————-
—HBA——————Cabaye—————-Remy——
——————————Ba——————————–
Funny how people say we don’t sell our best players yet half of that team has either left or is on the way out, and if we kept that group together we would have had some team .

Comment #48Debuchy would be better suited to playing in an attacking team.
Our tactics are all over the place, with Debuchy and Santon being so attacking, it just further adds to the confusion. (Not that I am saying getting rid of Debuchy is the solution)

Comment #49I can well imagine Yohan’s and Mathieu’s private conversations regarding the ownership…………scathing more often than not…….he’s off, given half a chance and the likelihood of a move and a World Cup place at seasons end the only things keeping him and a few others relatively competitive from here on in.
Unless Ash gets the lads together and personally promises key and extensive strengthening in the off season of course…….oh no no no no, there I go again, romancing. Sadly afflicted.

Comment #57As soon as we are out of top 10 pardew will be sacked. MA can’t sack pardew if he set the target this season is to be at top 10 since we are still in top 10.
I said before that we will finish in top 6 earlier this season and I am wrong. I think we won’t be in top 10 at the end of the season.
I’m willing to sacrifice this season to finish just above relegation zone so I could see new manager come next season. Even if we bought great players, we won’t go higher than 8th with pardew in charge. Even the players right now nolonger have any spirit and they get booed and blamed everytime when they already followed their manager’s instruction. It’s normal human reaction when their leader (manager) doesn’t want to take responsibilities and shifting blames.
I bet they will become different players when they have a new better manager. We have good players when they came to NUFC, even big teams wanted them and now they performed like Sh!t. If one or two, I can’t blame the manager but all the players has turned to sh!t and frustrated. Well… except Willo.
No use to invest more money on great players when the man in charge can’t utilize them to their full potentials. Hopefully this season is the last season I see pardew as NUFC manager.

Comment #58Vincenzo Montella is a great maanger. Fiorentina give him very low budget and he bought outcast players and free transfers, he sold all superstars to make fund for transfers. Look at them now.
The only team that can beat Juventus.
He bought Joacquin, Rossi, Ambrossini, Valero, Pizarro, Savic, etc. Total he sold 17 players.

Comment #60No sympathy for that excuse of a manager.
He has,nt the bottle to stand up to Ashley and tell him to stick his job.
So much easier to feed the fans a load of bull and get well paid to do so.
He only has to endure the fans anger on match days for 90 mins. or so.
I hear that they have reduced the S T prices,if that is so does it mean he is concerned about a drop in demand for them.
I think the time is right to not renew S T.and bring this situation to a head.
I still have ambition to watch a team that entertains and at least shows passion and pride in wearing our shirt.
Even if we dont win trophies at least we would be able to say we tried.

Cabaye – has already gone.
Shola – not first choice and contract ends in summer and is possibly too old to continue. Armstrong should take his place.
Remy – is not our player and QPR can keep him or sell him to whoever they want.
Marveaux – rarely gets a game and has already gone even though still physically around the club.
Obertan – rarely gets a game and therefore surplus to requirements and will probably be gone
Gutierrez – rarely gets a game as he is on loan elsewhere and is unlikely to return as age has caught up with him.
So, the only one who would be a loss would be Remy but given that he is here temporarily it is up to QPR to determine whether he stays with them or goes to the highest bidder.
Apart from Remy, no great loss.

Comment #64Hold on a sec, cabaye had already thrown his toys out the pram once by going on strike over the arsenal move, he was desperate to join PSG and I don’t think it was realistic to block the move without more disruption – think its clear that any player who gets a bid from a decent champions league club will be off – luckily of all the players at toon, Debuchy is the only player we own likely to attract a bid

The only trouble with that is he would not have the same type of player at nufc as he has at benfica. The style in portugal is totally different, as it is in each different country. I agree we might play more attacking football, but i think we would suffer badly when we didnt have the ball.

Comment #67Thai – when did tiote, krul and santon come out and say they were unsure of futures at toon – I can’t see Ashley allowing more than 1 more first team player leaving in summer although reckon all the fringe players could go I.e hba, Marv obertan etc
If we lose debuchy and tiote as well as Remy bodding off without bringing adequate replacements we’ll be relegated for sure

Comment #68My point Slank wasn’t who is going… it’s the amount of players that are going.
6 Definitely leaving and another few very likely to.
We already have a depleted squad and are going to have an even more depleted one by next season.
Unless MA has come up with a way of not only running the management of Newcastle on skeleton staff… but also a skeleton playing group… he has to buy or we will be relegated in the very near future. It’s that simple.

Comment #73MA only opening his wallet on the right price not for 20mil/player like oil clubs.
The problem is what does pardew want, what kind of a player he needs, can he maximize their potentials?
I think Carr already gave pardew the list which contain players within our budget, since Carr already knew our financial strength so no use of him scouting for 20 or 30mil players.
I gave Montella as example, because he know what he wants and needs. That is specific players for specific jobs (the right players for the right jobs regardless age and price) unlike pardew who wants 1 player for multi functions and he ended up putting players at the wrong jobs and when they can’t do it, all they get are blames and critics for being put there in the 1st place by the manager.

Debuchy – first choice and deservedly so and is current French international. Arguable whether he came here only because his best mate was here and therefore could be easily persuaded to leave especially to France. Would be a major loss as we don’t have anyone waiting in the wings to replace him.
Krul – first choice and deservedly so with years ahead of him and therefore very attractive proposition to clubs elsewhere. Whether he is sold is dependent upon the price.
Colloccini – first choice and deservedly so but his heart is in Argentina and his age and injuries are starting to creep up upon him. MYM is his replacement and so I think the club may let him leave.
Santon – first choice but only just with both Dummitt and Haidara arguably better full backs. No great loss if sold.
Ben Arfa – not first choice but more than great when he is great and rubbish when he is rubbish. Could be replaced by Remy Cabella or someone more consistent. Gouffran showed that you don’t have to be mesmeric and cost a fortune to be very effective. Future is uncertain I’d say.
Tiote – first choice and deservedly so and probably has a bigger positive impact on the team than any other player and because of which don’t expect the club to sell him although I expect there will be lots of bids.
Players have to leave or retire at some time. We have to face facts that we have some very good players that will attract the attention of bigger and more successful clubs many of whom have almost unlimited funds to spend in England and elsewhere and as we are an unsuccessful club in a provincial backwater players heads and pockets will be turned. That is life for a Newcastle supporter I’m afraid.

I’m being fan of Santon, I followed his career since Inter. I think with the right manager, he will be great again. He was great when he was playing under Mourinho and then sh!t under Benitez. He was great in his 1st season, now he is lost. He was great under Mourinho because the players knew their jobs and did their jobs, Benitez was awful at Inter that’s why he got sacked.

All clubs know, although some (Sunderland, Spurs and QPR) forget, that mass comings and goings of players rarely, if ever, achieve success in the first year and very often lead to a major decline in performance and sometimes relegation (eg QPR and hopefully Sunderland).
I would imagine that there will be quite a few bids in the summer coming in but I don’t expect all of them to be accepted.
In terms of a depleted squad we can only have the required number specified by the league. It’s the depth of quality that is the worry and not necessarily the quantity. But having said that most teams outside of the top four have this problem.
