I Am Never Jealous Of Sunderland

9:04 pm, Friday, February 21st, 2014 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 18 Comments

Alan Pardew held his press conference for the Aston Villa game today, and he looked fairly relaxed and answered the questions as usual,  in his matter of fact kind of way.

Alan Pardew – never jealous of Sunderland

Alan reiterated that the performance against Tottenham at home last time out, was simply not acceptable for a club like Newcastle, and  said the team should be a lot better against Villa and it’s a game he wants a result in.

It looks like Loic Remy, Fab Coloccini and Cheick Tiote will all start on Sunday, as they are all available again.

During the press conference,  one of the reporters asked Alan about Sunderlands’ success in the Cups this season.

Reporter: Are you at all jealous of Sunderland’s Cup successes this season, and would you maybe sacrifice some league positions to be in their position in the Cups.

Alan Pardew: I am never jealous of Sunderland.

There were giggles around the room before the next question was asked, but it would be good – and a big change – if Newcastle could go on a decent Cup run some time – but we’ve been saying that for years now.

But Sunderland have done extremely well in the Cups for a team that is still 3rd bottom of the league and are at Arsenal tomorrow.

Sunderland meet Manchester City at Wembley in the Capital One Cup Final, and are in the quarter finals of the FA Cup – and they have a winnable game at either Brighton or Hull.

Unfortunately it seems he will also never take us to a cup final.

“Never jealous of Sunderland” eh Pards ? , not even the fact they have spanked us 3 times in a row ? .

    doubt it

  • 5 John Tudor // Feb 21, 2014 at 9:38 PM

will he get us a win in the games left?

Jeez, surely that goes without saying. How low does he imagine we’ve sunk.

He shows us that the cups mean nothing to him, just survival in PL.what an outlook.
Wish i was getting ready for a trip to Wembley like.

Quite simply, rather than playing to what he thinks we want to hear he should say yes.

Unless he doesn’t want to be in a cup final and keeping winning derbies?

  • 9 GeordieTwo // Feb 21, 2014 at 10:39 PM

He might try saying he wants success for us in the cups and derbies and is going to do something about it. That would be a start but not one I’m expecting.

Haha people complaining about his answer. That ladies and gentlemen is a real lose lose situation.

No way are Sunderland a better team or god forbid a bigger or better club than us. Even now, as things stand.

Well done on the Cup runs, congratulations on the current league form that gives you an even chance of staying up and even a grudging respect for the recent derby achievements.

He might have been more gracious perhaps, but it’s a ridiculous question to ask any Newcastle manager that quite reasonably received a dismissive response.

I think we will win tomorrow or at least draw, Pards has the knack or maybe it’s good fortune of pulling something out of the hat when he needs to in order to save his bacon

  • 17 stuart no9 // Feb 21, 2014 at 11:33 PM

    P—i dont think we’ll win tomorrow – we’re not playing ,

what a horrible friday night . first , 4 points from 24 , or played 8-won1- drawn 1 – lost 7 mmm, is the sack for ANY manager in ANY league. Pardew you lucky man . the only manager in the league who gets a a pat on the back and a ‘well done’ for not getting relegated , and whose boss insists , what ever happens they must not finish higher than 7th. The mind really does boggle.

second – debuchy is happy at newcastle, – says who debuchy ? nope – pardew . so thats him gone in summer.
    jeez what a shambles.
