Newcastle To Make Move For Brazilian Midfielder

Football Direct News is reporting that Newcastle could be going after Shakhtar Donetsk winger Douglas Costa, and since the site is owned by Mike Ashley, maybe there may even be some truth in the report.

Douglas Costa

Douglas Costa – Brazilian U20 International winger

Costa began his career with Brazilian club Gremio, and he moved to Shakhtar in January of 2010 for a fee of £5M, and the Brazilian U20 International has been very successful in Ukraine.

There will be lots of wingers leaving Newcastle this summer, including Gutierrez, Marveaux and Obertan, and maybe even Ben Arfa so it’s not surprising that Newcastle are being linked with a winger.

And it seems that Costa could be a good player to come in for Ben Arfa, should Newcastle decide to sell the Frenchman in the summer, with just one year left on his contract.

And Direct News is quoting an insider as saying the following:

“We’ll probably have to sell before we can buy, and it’s possible that it’ll be Ben Arfa that makes way,” “Costa is a top talent and although there might be a lot of teams in for him, we’d be interested in trying to do a deal.”

The 5’7″ left footed winger has played 155 times for Shakhtar with 30 goals and 27 assists, and that’s not too bad a record, and he has played 12 times with 4 goals for the Brazilian U20 side.

However he would not come cheap in the transfer market, and is rated at around £10M by the web-site transfermarkt.com, which is twice the fee the Ukrainian club paid for him four years ago.

What do you think?

But don’t you see the link? ALL of the mistakes ashley has made are football decisions. HE appointed the manager that you are so adamantly against (i am not saying that is a bad attitude either, i understand it to an extent) HE keeps us behind on players and quality squad depth. HE appointed dennis wobblyeyes and JFK HE sanctioned the sale of our best players. All of these things, including Alan “overcaution” pardew, DIRECTLY affect the teams performance and make us a PAINFULLY mediocre Club.

I DO NOT fully disagree with everything you say, i just differ on certain things.

Our differences can be simply pit as follows

You would drop pardew now, and risk who Ashley woukd appoint.

I Want ashley gone first, as i do not think Ashleys Tatty Pot contains an imptovement on pardew.

The aim of the story on Mr Tubbs website -may have nothing to do with getting another player but more to do with preparing Toon fans for the exit of Benny.
Suggesting a Brazilian winger at SJP – would in other eras get Toon fans interested – but it’s probably all invented Tosh. The article says he’s 5′ 7″ tall – or in other words a short arse/dwarf/pixie/elf. No thanks.

Ashley was ranked 25th richest man in the UK when he bought Newcastle United in 2007 now he’s ranked 15th richest man in the UK so he’s making millions somewhere.

so your telling me you were semi pro, and you played to a system,
your coach never assessed what he had, he just decided we are playing 433,
he never looked at wht forwards he had, which foot they preferred ?
he just said 433 today lads, fit in or f off, what a load of utter crap

your coach would have known who was best where, what foot they used, if they where fast or slow, you can have any system in the world but if the players arnt suited to it , it will only fail,

I bet your just another fat lazy boy like mojo

Direct News, ha ha, Mike Ashley could’t even lie straight in bed, what makes you think HIS propaganda machine has any element of truth in it?

AP has been quoted as saying, “We have the money to buy Loic Remy” and “We have money available for the right player, but the player has to be right for the club”.

Given those statements by the inept one, Why would we have to sell to buy?

BS story, by a BS website owned by a BS owner.

I played county football in my teens and early 29’s I had a trial with Brighton etc, and I can back krul to be kind up a bit on this. You see what makes a player and team good is the ability to play to a system coz you know what footballers are like they all want to be strikers. In a way I agree you have to utilise your players in a system that works however ultimately it’s down to the players to work to the system. You can’t legislate for players all the time. Our county reserve team had to play the same formation as our first team regardless of if they had the correct personnel, so that when a player was called they were familiar with the first team system.

Most of the stories in the press these day are specifically designed to rile up the fans, And it’s working, come Sunday the fans will be set against our team after the first mistake, job done Newcastle undermined the player will get frustrated and begin to make more mistakes, the fans will turn uglier and we will lose the match.

Congratulations to the press on a job well done. But, we could just ignore the rubbish in the papers and on the websites and get behind the team from the start, and stay with them to the end and celebrate a win.

Lambert has already said he needs to turn the NUFC fans against the team on Sunday. Are we going to help him? or are we going to get behind those 11 players on the pitch and show them the true Geordie support?

To those who are saying we don’t need to sell to buy another player.

Even if we have funds available which we do no matter what bull comes out of this club, we’d still have to sell. Our squad is going to be to big, therefore we’d need to sell to make room for new signings.

Next year our club will consist of:

    25 squad players
    Player (home grown)
    Ameobi, Sammy (Yes)
    Anita, Vurnon San Benito (No)
    Ben Arfa, Hatem (No)
    Cisse, Papiss Demba (No)
    Coloccini, Fabricio (No)
    Debuchy, Mathieu (No)
    Dummett, Paul (Yes)
    Elliot, Robert (Yes)
    Gouffran, Yoan (No)
    Gutierrez, Jonas Manuel (No)
    Krul, Timothy Michael (Yes)
    Marveaux, Sylvain (No)
    Obertan, Gabriel Antoine (No)
    Santon, Davide (No)
    Sissoko, Moussa (No)
    Tavernier, James Henry (Yes)
    Taylor, Ryan Anthony (Yes)
    Taylor, Steven Vincent (Yes)
    Tiote, Cheik Ismael (No)
    Williamson, Michael James (Yes)
    Yanga Mbiwa, Mapou (No)

22 there. You then have to take into consideration the younger ones will have aged, more then likely meaning our squad will be filled up.

Markaccus: I agree with you he is, and he seems to think that he can now take advantage of the situation at Newcastle and turn the already squabbling fans against the team. He won’t be the only manager thinking that way either. If we allow them to do that then we deserve to have nothing, and should have no complaints when players leave, and relegation looms next season.
