Coloccini, Tiote, Remy, Dummett And Cisse All Start Today

nufc emblemaston villa

Fabricio Coloccini returns to the Newcastle side against Aston Villa this afternoon, and Davide Santon and Luuk de Jong are both dropped and in come local lad Paul Dummett and Papiss Cisse.

As expected Steven Taylor drops down to the bench to make way for the captain and both Loic Remy and Cheick Tiote also return to the side.

Newcastle will play in a 4-4-2 formation as expected with Cisse and Remy up front, and Tiote and Anita is central midfield.

This is almost the side we thought would start but the surprise is that Cisse replaces Luuk de Jong up front.

Ben Arfa is probably injured and Sylvain Marveaux has been training with the Youth team so it’s not surprising that neither of them are in the squad.

And a surprise is that neither Davide Santon nor Sammy Ameobi are on the bench today.

Newcastle need a win today and a good performance too, and that might just stop the rot at Newcastle.

Howay The Lads!!

Newcastle (4-4-2): Tim Krul; Mathieu Debuchy, Mike Williamson, Fabricio Coloccini (c), Paul Dummett; Moussa Sissoko, Cheick Tiote, Vurnon Anita, Yoan Gouffran; Papiss Cisse, Loic Remy
Substitutes: Rob Elliot, Massadio Haidara, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, Steven Taylor, Dan Gosling, Luuk de Jong, Shola Ameobi

Aston Villa (4-3-3): Brad Guzan; Leandro Bacuna, Ron Vlaar, Nathan Baker, Ryan Bertrand; Ashley Westwood, Fabian Delph, Karim El Ahmadi; Gabriel Agbonlahor, Christian Benteke, Andreas Weimann
Substitutes: Jed Steer, Joe Bennett, Ciaran Clark, Yacouba Sylla, Marc Albrighton, Aleksandar Tonev, Grant Holt

Referee: Martin Atkinson (Yorkshire)

No complaints from me. I would have silently respected the decision if Sissoko had been dropped too, but I am happy with the changes.

Cisse is a great professional, there is no player I want to see score more today than Cisse. I still have faith in our number 9.

the other side of the coin is when we go on a winning run the anti pards brigade (fantasists) disappear i had to laugh on fri/sat the only posters were catchy mag and stuart they remind me of a party where all the bores gravitate towards each other and at the end of the evening end up in a corner boring each other rigid

Funny how Marv has been made a scapegoat by Pardew for the recent defeats yet he has hardly featured FFS.

Not surprised Ben Arfa (injured), Marveaux (lack of backbone) and Santon (serious loss of form) are missing.

But surprised Sammy not on the bench as he is a winger. Also surprised that both MYM and Saylor are on the bench. How many central defenders are required?

    Cisse?
Could work……..doubt it though would rather LDJ

    Matt
Why would HBA be on the bench? Didn’t Pardew confirm yesterday he had a knock and probably wouldn’t make it
Marvs been training with under 18?s did anyone really think he’d feature?

Strange how HBA and Santon are said to be carrying knocks when they are the two players that did take Pardew’s dressing down to well

that’s a good point you make their, we see all the post saying HBA and marvo not even making the bench yet it has taken 17 posts for someone to ask why sammy is not even on the bech and he has been much more decent than the other two.

Glad to see Santon dropped tbh hope Dummett can put an impressive marker down and get a run before the end of the season

Colo should possibly bring some discipline back to the defence

Cisse though, why the hell is that lad starting, LDJ has played well the last couple think he’d work well with Remy

I’m not necessarily criticising them not being on the bench; Marveaux doesn’t work hard enough. But dropping both of them (HBA may have a knock) indicates Pardew’s usual containing football philosophy. Glad he has dropped Santon.

only a a complete donkey of a manager would have 3 defenders a centre mid and 2 strikers on the bench if you have other options

Exactly toonking I am not saying he is a fantastic player but he has been in decent form and is not scared to take a player on and has played really well and his reward by a so called great man manager is to not even make the bench fantastic !!!
