Football Direct News is reporting today that Newcastle could go after 20 year-old PSV winger Memphis Depay in the summer.
Memphis Depay – Dutch International winger
Newcastle will probably need to bring in some wingers this summer with Gabby Obertan, Sylvain Marveaux, Jonas Gutierrez and even Ben Arfa likely to leave the club.
Depay is the son of a Ghanaian father and a Dutch mother, and seems to be a top young player, and he has played for the Dutch U15, U16, U17, U19 and 7 times for the U21 side and he has three full caps, and only turned 20 earlier this month.
He made his International debut for the Netherlands last October, in the FIFA World Cup game against Turkey, when he came on in the last minute of a 2-0 win.
And the lad has been in good form so far this season, and has 10 goals and 11 assists in 35 games for PSV, and is attracting the interest of some top clubs.
Newcastle will face some serious competition if they are really interested in this player – with Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham already tracking the player.
Football Direct News is owned by Mike Ashley and they are reporting that a club source has told them that Depay is one of the targets in the summer transfer window.
“The club have done well in the last few years to find young players abroad, and Depay is one they’ve been watching closely,”
“A lot of other clubs are interested but we’ll do what we can, especially if Hatem ends up leaving.”
Memphis joined PSV from Sparta Rotterdam in 2006, and made his official debut for the team in April of 2012, at the age of 18, and he has since played 76 times for the Dutch giants with 18 goals.
He is right footed and stands 5’10” tall and can play on either wing.
What do you think?

Comment #1Ed…Football Direct News is also reporting that we have to sell before we buy; they are suggesting Benny will have to leave – what do you think we will get for him after he has been Pardewed big time?
…that is the amount of money we have to spend 😉 lol
This club is a joke! So who will be watching this joke of a club today?

Comment #2Pardew likes strong hard working midfielder, I think he has a winning formula with gouffy and a another playing wide and cutting in. Will be interesting to see the formation today and De Jong playing with Remy and Gouffy

Again I find your words and actions against our great leader to be unjust. Can you not open your eyes and take a step back for one minute…Gather your thoughts and realise what an excellent job Mike is doing for Nufc.Tell me who now will be able to fill the role left by Joe…….Another big loss for our club lol

Comment #11http://www.themag.co.uk/the-mag-articles/graham-carr-alan-pardew-go/?
I totally agree! Either Pardew or Carr has to go and I have before suggested the honorable way for Pardew would be to walk, but honor doesn’t seem to mean the same to him as it does people where I am from!
…for me Pardew has to go! We cannot keep scouting and buying players for a different system(s) than the one Pardew uses. It is hurtful for everyone – especially us fans!

Comment #13Hope springs eternal in the human breast;
Man never is, but always to be blessed:
The soul, uneasy and confined from home,
Rests and expatiates in a life to come.
