There have been a number of reports out recently that have challenged Newcastle to sign Loic Remy, and by that show the club has some ambition to become a top club in England again.
Loic Remy – I just scored a last minute winner!!!!
And they are right on the mark, because a major reason players like Jose Enrique, Demba Ba and more recently Yohan Cabaye have left Newcastle, is that they cannot meet their ambitions at a club, that is content on being in the top ten in the Premier League.
For a club with the rich history of Newcastle United – how exciting is that?
Not very exciting, and when you see the fantastic 50,000 crowd that turned out last Sunday to cheer our lads on – after they had lost the last five home games – and won one of the last nine games in all competitions, it makes you want to cry that Mike Ashley runs the club like he does.
And if Newcastle continue in this direction then any good player we get in or develop – such as Cabaye – will eventually leave the club – and Newcastle will stay a selling club – which is what we are now.
If ever a club and its faithful fans deserved an ambitious owner, it’s Newcastle United.
And with Ashley putting it out that he will take around £250M to sell the club, then maybe some Billionaire in Russia or in the Persian gulf, or even in America will see that, and maybe make a bid for the club.
If that doesn’t happen, then we hope the Mike Ashley will get some ambition in his heart for Newcastle, because he’s shown precious little of that in the almost seven years he has owned the club.
With Newcastle likely to get a massive £80M from the Premier League in May, that’s £40M more than we got last year – and since we made a profit in the last financial year, there’s every reason to believe we could make around £40M profit in this financial year.
If Mike Ashley would only spend the profits that will be coming into the coffers of Newcastle over the next few years – there’s a good chance we could build a top side.
But to do that the owner of the club has to be willing to try to get Newcastle as a top four club again in England, and the sad news is that we haven’t seen any sign of that from Mike Ashley.
However, if Newcastle can sign Loic Remy permanently – that would be a good first step in getting Newcastle back to being one of the best sides in England.
That’s exactly what Geordie fans want to see – so come on Newcastle – show some ambition.
Or should that be – come on Mike Ashley – show some ambition?.
Please!!!!

im from the northeast…. of the united states,… i was born in manhattan, nyc, which is an island, and if you know your geography, during the upheaval during the mezozoic era, it split from the NE of england, and eventually settled on the bedrock of what is now the state of new york…
therefore, i am a distant cousin of yours, i just havent quite evolved yet 🙂

Comment #83Mag…I know you like to think you know stuff…but the evidence doesn’t really stack up. This has nothing to do with how I view myself, why has that come in to the discussion?
I am in no way a fan of Ashley and am not defending him. Liverpools owner clearly has higher ambition for his club than Ashley does and is likely finding ways in which to get his club more money to spend….ours isn’t.

the term “fan” was derived fromthe word “fanatic” and translated loosely, it means one who is madly dedicated to their cause, whether it be religion, sport, booze or womanizing… since you seek to cause a rebellion against the powers that are, youre not a fan, youre a visionary 🙂

Obviously you’re not still in the Staes still as your irony quotient is far too elevated.
Yes it is all about losing the faith…that sums up the man from Slough… or is it Maidenhead…
The fools do tend to seem to fund development from debt though… so not sure how they’ll comply with FFR

Comment #92@82 smart craics about Irish Joe who’s spent virtually all his life down south provoke ill will. My point was these southerners Ashley imports come to Newcastle with the attitude we are smalltime who need to be dragged into the 21st century and they’re the ones to do it.

Comment #97yo-yo…Well spotted…I am currently living it up…darn sarf.
FFP was always going to be a tall order, although I do want it to go ahead as frankly the state of finances within football is disgusting.
I just hope they find a way to clamp down on those who look likely to try and abuse the system, as rather than being progressive in our methods, we will be left further behind and looking like fools.
Oh well, that’s a problem for someone else.
Off for a bit, play nicely.

Glad to have that cleared up.
I made a comment last night, the blog was fairly dead then or perhaps it simply fell on deaf ears but I am going to make the same comment today, regardless.
To get Ashley out of the club we need a buyer, we need someone to come in and make an offer for the club. While groups like T4C and MAOC can impose short-term pressure by calling him out as best they can to highlight how badly the club is being run, we need another organisation to promote a positive message moving forward.
That message must be that this can never be allowed to happen to our great club again. How can we ensure that? Fan ownership, of course.
Newcastle United Supporter’s Trust nearly bought a stake in the club once, and with the right support, a change in direction and increase in membership, they can do it again.
NUST needs to work for us as fans by making itself more visible and prominent among NUFC fans, but the fans also need to show trust in NUST by becoming members.
Fans spend hundreds, even thousands of pounds following NUFC with little to no return. Instead of ploughing our hard earned cash only to be treated badly as consumers, why don’t we put our money into an organisation who will help bring about change that will see NUFC treated not as consumers but rather as investors in their club.
If that happens, not only will fans feel like they are part of proceedings, but also, NUFC would have direct accountability for the way it is run. The fans could ask questions and demand answers from the club.
If we think as individuals then it may be a pie in the sky concept. However, Germany shows that it can work. Hamburg has over 200,000 fully paid up members who pay 40 euro a year for their membership – money which goes directly into the running of their club. They then can demand answers on how their money has been spent.
Membership for NUST costs only £10 (£5 for unemployed/concessions)
Surely we can part with that amount and give NUST a fighting chance at trying to secure the long term health of our club.

Comment #101Mag…Okay then, before I go. Nothing smart about pointing out that Kinnear isn’t a Southerner….he’s not.
I personally don’t agree with this whole cockney mafia thing….where they come from means little to nothing. The bottom line is they’re not up to the job.
By bringing “Southerners” in to the argument you imply its an issue of non Geordies. Where does that stop? Players, fans?
Just seems a silly point in what is a good argument against the powers that be. Anyway, have a pleasant afternoon.

Comment #108I think we are in strong position to sign up both De Jong and Remy up if we want them enough to match any reasonable offers on them.
I don’t see many teams having Remy as their top target. So they will only come after him if they fail to get their top targets. If Arsenal sign Douglas Costa for example. A.Madrid probably would go for Soldado or Benteke. And if Tottenham sell Soldado then will have money and a choice between Damião, Pato, Michu, Benteke, Huntelaar, Balotelli, J.Martinez, G.Rossi, Demba Ba etc.
So it’s not necessary that they will choose Remy.
If they do we are screwed, but if they don’t, only a new rich club offer him crazy money could pull him away from us.

Comment #111so last jan we bought in 5 players pards claims it cost us 30 mill to sign them
and we still managed to make 10 mill in profit
i know there are some sales come of that
this season pard claims if we buy we will need to use the club overdraft
did the 10mill fall behind the sofa then
so we could have bought a player to replace cabaye before we sold him they just forgot they had 10mill behind the sofa
so this season without the new tv cash were gonna make a fair chunk of change even without the cabaye cash

It’s not hard to understand this, from day one Ashley has always said he wants the club to be self sufficient, he has no interest in ploughing his own money into the club. He did that when he bought the club. So it’s irrelevant whether he’s the richest or poorest bloke in the world if that’s his strategy. So feel free to stop slagging people coz you can’t grasp something.
Don’t agree with how he does it with our club, but that’s one thing he has come out and stated

How would NUST be able to ask questions and demand answers? You’re talking about 200,000 fans paying £10 a year into an organisation. That will barely fund its own operating costs if it is to be a properly elected and accountable organisation. And with no proprietary rights, how can it demand answers never mind a say in stewardship? Remind us why it failed the last time? How much are you prepared to invest?
