Newcastle Could Move For Dutch International This Summer

4:53 pm, Thursday, February 27th, 2014 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 27 Comments

There were some rumors that Newcastle were interested in taking Everton’s Dutch International John Heitinga in January, and at the beginning of last month West Ham had said he had turned them down because he wanted to join Newcastle.

Johnny Heitinga – free agent in the summer

Johnny finally went to Fulham, but Newcastle are still being linked with a potential move for Heitinga in the summer, should Fulham be relegated this season.

Heitinger would come fairly cheap, in fact he’s only on a six month deal at Fulham and will be a free agent in the summer, so whether or not Fulham are relegated. he’s still a free agent this summer.

Johnny started his career at Ajax and first played for the first team in 2001 when he was just 17,  and he then joined Atletico Madrid in 2008, after playing for Ajax 215 times with 24 goals.

And when you look at the back-up have at center-back at Newcastle, we are still not strong enough in that position,  with both Steven Taylor and Yanga-Mbiwa struggling for form this season.

And it could be that Fab Coloccini will return to Buenos Aries this summer, so even though the Dutchman is now 30, we still think he would be a decent acquisition and could do a job for Newcastle, mainly as a squad player.

He can also play as a defensive midfielder, and could be a back up to Cheick Tiote, although Newcastle could face some competition from Turkish club Galatasaray, who are also said to be interested in the Dutch International.

He would be a decent acquisition as a free agent, even though he doesn’t fit the profile of players Mike Ashley likes to bring into Newcastle –  players who are usually 26 years old or younger.

What do you think?

When Cheick Tiote crosses the pacific, sharks hear the “Jaws” music.

Now this is more like it. A free agent you say? Now we can stop hearing all the Lescott bollocks. This is much more Mike’s style! :)

Cheik Tiote doesn’t have to hold his breath under water. Water knows better than to try and drown Cheik Tiote

Is he willing to take a low wage and waive his agent’s fee as well? Mike is very concerned about keeping costs down you know.

Would Heitinga’s mother volunteer to be tea lady for free? Joe is costing far too much!

How can Mike be expected to balance the books if he actually has to pay agents’ fees? It’s ridiculous. We should get a free pass on that one since we are special (actually it’s Mike that is special).

We are having pork chops in the oven served with pineapple and a delicious curry sauce ;)

…should I serve that with or without the mango chutney?

He’s worse than Williamson and that takes some doing.

The other Prem owners are getting the money together to send a sympathy card to Mike as we speak. They really want to show they care! :)

Isn’t it sad that we only turned a profit of 10M pounds last season? And Mike can’t figure out for the life of him what commercial revenue is. No wonder the other owners are concerned for him. :(

We should be looking for in the championship for decent player’s, will play for lower wages and within MA price bracket . They’ll fit in perfectly with the squad we have! !!!

Fatty thinks austerity begins at SJP and ends at the casino.

  • 16 GeordieTwo // Feb 27, 2014 at 5:16 PM

Yes kk and couldn’t one of our players (or more) act as scouts in the summer for free? They could go round the country looking for excellent young prospects. And fairly soon we may be in the Championship again so Championship players would be perfect. Now that’s what I call planning ahead. :)

It’s so sad that Mike can’t afford a striker for the club and has to borrow them. Moths in his purse, old worn out slippers. Mike is quite a sight these days.

    Geordie
    yep definitely planning ahead.

Why have a commercial revenue team at the club when you can just put up all those free SD hoardings? It doesn’t make sense to pay those wages when you have no intention of selling advertising space.

Sorry for the double post. Slow connection today.

  • 22 GeordieTwo // Feb 27, 2014 at 5:36 PM

Even the club purse is always empty these days. Hmmm. Where do the profits go then?

  • 23 GeordieTwo // Feb 27, 2014 at 5:38 PM

I realize 10M pounds isn’t a lot but then there was the Cabaye sale, so that’s another 17-20M pounds. So together we have 27M pounds to spend at least don’t we? And with the extra TV revenue operating costs are well in hand for the coming season. So no problem, we’ll be spending at least 27M pounds in the summer. I must say I’m tremendously relieved.

  • 24 GeordieTwo // Feb 27, 2014 at 5:40 PM

Oh we will be paying for new slippers for Mike out of that of course. Sorry MIke, I didn’t mean to neglect you oh beloved leader.

  • 25 GeordieTwo // Feb 27, 2014 at 5:40 PM

Does anybody know where we can get a really cheap pair of slippers? Any size will do.

  • 26 GeordieTwo // Feb 27, 2014 at 5:46 PM

How is that posh nosh jesper mate? I’m jealous.
