Newcastle Need More Of This To Be At Their Best

We suppose when you go nine games with only one win, and the pressure is on to win a game again, the players can become anxious, and that seemed to be the case last Sunday, when Newcastle did well to go in at the break level at 0-0 with Aston Villa.

Alan Pardew – Newcastle players need to be more calm

Of course the win has taken Newcastle up to 8th place in the league, and just 5 points behind both Tottenham and Everton, who both lost their games last weekend.

This is what Alan Pardew told the Shields Gazette today:

“It was important for our fans, but equally so for us.” “We have to go into training. We have to lift ourselves. After that win, there’ll be a few more smiles.”

“We can calm down in training. We were a little bit fraught.” “We need to be calm on the ball and show a bit more composure.” “If we can do that, we can get back to our best.”

And the stage is set for Newcastle hopefully to go on a winning run again, and around this time two years ago we managed to win six league games in a row, before crashing at Wigan of all places, when we were 4-0 down at half time, and finally lost that game 4-0 in what was a shocker.

And this talk about having nothing to play for this season is simply not true, and every point is important to Newcastle, and in these final 11 games it’s important that Newcastle do well and finish as high up in the league table as possible.,

Then there will lots of activity in the transfer market in the summer, with a number of players leaving and several new players coming in.

We’ll get some idea then, if Mike Ashley’s ambitions for the club have taken an upward turn – we certainly hope so.

We are 5 points behind Man U and Everton, not 5 behind Spurs, we are 10 behind Spurs, but never mind we know what you mean Ed.

Bring Sissoko in to midfield so that he can establish himself and become comfortable with the role along with the team. Whilst productive on the wing surely he is physically and technically more suited in the central channel.

Cabaye gone, Remy, Cisse, Colocinni and Ben Arfa likely to join him with the tv money also coming in we should have a pot well in excess of £50m, but how much will we spend ?, my guess is that it will be less than £15m.

If Manchester United finish out of UCL and can’t get their targets i feel they will go for Remy Cabella.

can’t believe Tom Cleverly is an England International
