We thought Newcastle had a decent chance of winning the game at the KC Stadium this afternoon, but there’s no doubt that it’s a severe blow that captain Fabricio Coloccini will not be in the team today at the KC Stadium.
Colo has been given compassionate leave to return to Argentina because of a family bereavement, and that’s all we know, but of course sometimes other things are more important than football.
Cheick Tiote will come in and take over the captaincy, and manager Alan Pardew has let the Ivorian know he’s now the official vice-captain, and he has become a better player with that extra responsibility, and the manager has been singing Cheick’s praises today.
Steven Taylor is likely to come in to replace Colo at the back, but Alan Pardew has been experimenting this week with different formations to try to shore up Newcastle at the back, as we’ve let far too many goals in last month – 10 goals in four games – to be exact.
Davide Santon is not fit, and we’re not sure of the status of Ben Arfa, and Colo is not available, so we expect this to be the team today:
Krul
Debuchy Williamson Taylor (S) Dummett
Sissoko Tiote (c) Anita Gouffran
Remy de Jong
Subs: Elliot Yanga-Mbiwa Gosling Ameobi (Sa) Ameobi (Sh) Marveaux Cisse
We’ll assume Ben Arfa and Santon are unfit – but it may be a surprise if Marveaux is brought back into the squad, because he did himself no favors with his last sub performance against Tottenham.
But we also want to have the best players at Newcastle in the squad.
The keys to this game are that Newcastle can be (very) solid in defense, and that we can score some goals, maybe though Loic Remy, but Luuk de Jong needs to get on the goal-scoring trail too, if he is to get a deal from Newcastle this summer.
What would your team be for today?
This is almost the best side Newcastle can put out today, so hopefully we are still in with a decent chance of winning the game, and get our 7th away win of the season and second win in a row.
43% think we can do that in our poll.
In order to win this game we will need to see good performances from both Steven Taylor and Cheick Tiote, and hope that Mike Williamson is again in sparkling form at the back, as he was last week against Aston Villa.
And Hull’s home form has been very decent this season, and in 13 home games they have only lost four times, and that was exactly the away record Aston Villa arrived with at St. James’ Park last Sunday – when we managed to beat them
Another win is what we all want to see this afternoon.
What do you think?

Lol it’s match day so it’s probably best not to have it engaged, that way you can’t register all the sh*te that will be plastered over here after the game!

is there any reason why this couldn’t happen, apart from Ashley being a greedy tw*t and refusing to sell.

Comment #86I think we will lose today 3-1 to Hull, Hull striking partners Long & Jelavic will destroy Taylor & Willo, they both have speed and this is why MYM needs to start ahead of Taylor.
but we all know Pardew he will set us up for defensive play you’s will see

Comment #88Pardew has spoken about being experimental, I would like to see Gosling get a start today. It is now or never for Gosling… an away game to Hull is the perfect platform for him to showcase some Kevin Nolan style runs into the box.
Haven’t we seen enough of defensive minded central midfielders already… Anita played quite high up the pitch against Villa, but playing Anita there is just kicking the can down the road.

Fan ownership can happen as long as the right people are involved but why would Ashley want to sell?
As a club we are now far more attractive than we have been for years but thats because the profit that can now be made from us and thats the reason he will not sell unless there’s a stupid offer that comes in which is very, very doubtful

Comment #96We’ll just have to accept we’re stuck with Mash. Mediocre team and football.
I would put money on us being back in the championship before we got into the top four.
At least sd is well advertised.

COuldn’t care less if Redbull placed ads and changed the name of the arena…. if they or whoever else becomes the next owner showed Ambition as opposed to selling the best assets and pocketing the profits, then That would suit me.
Tired of having to endure each window with an Owner, whose only thought in regards to Newcastle and transfers is ‘how much can I get” and “Whats the cheapest replacement?”

Ashley selling would be the obviously hurdle, but its a hurdle which we have got to hope can be cleared.
Black and white
if you read the article fully you will see just how good an idea it could be, it comes back to Ruddy and his wish for more fan involvement, we would get that and from the council’s point of view it could benefit the community, to me it ticks a lot of boxes.

Comment #108All previews of the match suggest Remy / Davies will be the key battle if NUFC are to score and have any chance of winning. Potentially de Jong could have an important game and score if he can dominate Bruce jnr, tipping the balance in our favour. De Jong has shown in his previous appearances that he has the physicality to challenge for the ball and the technique to create opportunities for himself and others. Hopefully he is match fit and Pardew will play the two strikers in a formation that provides good service, getting the ball forward quickly and accurately; and limit the possession of Hulls midfielders.

Comment #110i think we would be playing 4-3-3 with gouffy and remy on wings coming more forward, like we were doing it with ba, 2 seasons ago… anyway, it will be tough game (as all games for us)…
