Werder Bremen midfielder Aaron Hunt has been tracked by a number of clubs, and Newcastle are one of the clubs who have been continually linked with the 27 year-old German International this season.
Aaron Hunt – will decide future this month
And there is a report out today in the Mirror that says the German, who has an English mother and German father, will decide his future by the end of March.
But surprisingly Newcastle are not among the two clubs mentioned in the Mirror report as suitors of the experienced midfielder.
Stoke City and Southampton are said to be the two Premier League clubs wanting to sign the the player, who will become a free agent in the summer, and Hunt is quoted as saying:
“I’m exploring all options and will decide where I will be this month.”
Stoke manager Mark Hughes was wanting the midfielder last summer, when the £2.5M bid he made was flatly turned down by his club, Werder Bremen, and Mark has a good record of signing decent players.
The German club are keen to keep their player, and they have already offered him a new four year deal, and we suppose that offer will be considered before Aaron makes his final decision.
While it seems Newcastle will have a big transfer kitty available this summer, they will also want to pick up some bargain buys (as usual), and Newcastle know all about which free agents will become available, at least a couple of years before their contracts run out.
It seems that as a free agent, Aaron would be a good signing for the club.
What do you think?

Honestly it’s ridiculous
Would much rather be talking about being 2 points of a potential European spot and a great 3 points but our fans seem to be more interested in a witch hunt at a pivotal stage of the season
The FA are the FA so anything could happen but given there ruling on an identical incident it’s hard to see how they can go all out on him
The last manager to do this got a 4 match touch line ban, given he’s had past warnings i expect a 5 match ban with an additional 2 match ban suspended sentence to keep in check future dug out behaviour

He had a lot of hype about him a couple of seasons back seems a pretty consistent player could be worth a go on a free

Comment #3Seems a Pards type player. Be great if Pardew and Carr were entirely on the same page.

I think that ban sounds fair, although maybe a larger suspended sentence just to make it look like they were making a tough stance on him. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them go totally over the top just to pander to the media mind.
Yeah, a cracking result and performance has been totally overshadowed, mainly down to Pardew’s own actions, but the focus that we as fans are putting on that rather than result is ridiculous. I wonder if we had lost the game if the result would have been put to one side quite as much?
martoon,
Yeah, some people are clinging on to this so they don’t have to talk about a very good performance, and therefore don’t have to give Pardew credit for it. Sad really. As I just said to Tads, if we had lost, would the result have become so insignificant in the post match chat?

Comment #5Hunt sounds like a good signing, without ever seeing him play.
And no harm in signing free transfers as long as they’re good enough.
In fact hunt, gomis, lescott and ince are all free transfers this summer and I’d welcome them all.

Comment #6Watched Hunt on numerous occasions.
He is a top player, plenty of goals and assists, as well as being a real leader.
Would be surprised if a bigger club don’t go in for him.

Ince isn’t free to us, would be 3-4million probably. Only free to a foreign club.
Don’t want Lescott or Gomis, but would take Hunt.

Yeah don’t think he could argue having say an equal suspended sentence say 5 games served now with a 5 match ban hanging over him
Also not understanding the amount of criticism he’s getting for standing where he was!
It’s his bloody technical area he can stand where the hell he likes!
Every other manager does! Mourinho walked onto the pitch a couple of games back to shout instructions
If they have an issue with that then they need to re think the set up of the technical areas
The performance was superb, really was
He had the team selection and tactics spot on, we frustrated a team 4th in the form table, heavily limited there chances which they have creating at will recently and broke on the counter superbly
Everyone on the pitch for the first time in months looked like they wanted to be there and gave 100%
Not a single player looked like they were lagging, they all knew each other’s role and the whole thing just clicked
I think we have a pretty decent run in to be honest and can see Everton and Manure dropping a few points, we have to maintain the pressure and make sure we pick up points when we play both teams

Comment #11morning everyone. so, thug is being sentenced today . the very minimum must be banned till the end of season , a full stadium ban is the correct route. Football has been trying for about 30 years to get rid if the thuggery that used to be part and parcel of english football .
They made the stadium all seater , they brought family enclosures into the stadium . People have been EDUCATED on how to behave at football games , the last thing we want is that thuggery creeping back into the sport . Its hard to believe i am not talking about the fans here , but the manager of NUFC. unbelievable i know , but that is just a measure of how bad things have become since ashley and his band of merry men took over NUFC

Comment #12Fans have been throwing bodily waste at each other, well before this incident. I don’t think fan thuggery can ever be blamed on pardews antics.

Ince contract runs out this summer, he’s free to anyone.
The free to abroad thing was in the jan transfer window. Don’t know how, must’ve been some clause I his contract.
