It seems that Alan Pardew is not the only person at Newcastle in trouble with the FA, as Dan Gosling today has been charged by the FA for breaking betting regulations, and the club issued a statement on their web-site earlier today.
Dan Gosling – charged by FA
Of course Alan Pardew the manager was charged for improper conduct for headbutting David Meyler in last week’s victory over Hull City.
This is the statement put out by Newcastle today on their web-site:
“Newcastle United midfielder Dan Gosling has admitted an FA charge in relation to multiple breaches of Rule E8(b) for misconduct in relation to betting.”
“Gosling has requested a personal hearing, the date of which will be set in due course.”
FA Rule 8 applies specifically to betting and Rule E8(b) prohibits players from betting on the result of games, either directly or indirectly, or the progress or conduct of a game or competition in which their club is taking part.
In addition to that it forbids players from betting on matches or competitions of clubs they have already played for this season.
Rule E8(b) also prevents any betting on things the player may have personal knowledge of, including the transfer of players, the employment of managers, team selection and disciplinary matters.
Dan has chosen to have a personal hearing much like his manager, and we have to wonder what Pardew will say to Gosling about today’s charge by the FA? đ
Dan’s contract runs out in the summer, and he will be leaving Newcastle for pastures anew.

Comment #1He came to NUFC because the odds were good he would get some playing time. Like most punters, he got it wrong.
