New Contracts To Be Given Out To Newcastle Players

11:50 pm, Thursday, March 13th, 2014 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 14 Comments

Alan Pardew has actually talked about some potentially pending good news at Newcastle, and he said earlier in the week that some of the players who have done well at the club will be given new contracts.

Adam Armstrong – top youngster to get new deal?

Of course we’d love to think he’s talking about Loic Remy, but that’s unlikely to happen, especially when Remy has recently said he wants to join a top five club.]

But it’s a lot more likely that Newcastle will be giving some new  long term contracts to some of our younger players.

These are the comments Alan made at the FA Youth Cup quarter-final against Chelsea earlier in the week:

“Well we hope to announce another bit of good news out of that situation in the next couple of weeks, because some of those players have done very well for us, and we’ll be looking to secure their futures.”

“It was a fantastic game and anybody who was there would have seen that we gave a very very good account of ourselves, against a top top youth team.”

Local lad Adan Armstrong looks like a really top prospect at Newcastle, so maybe he will get a new contract – and that’s especially true now he has just turned 17, when you can sign a professional contract.

There are other younger players too who could get new deals – and while it’s the youngsters – it’s still good to tie down some players who hopefully will become first team players in a couple of years.

Comments welcome.

On paper we are better player-for-player than Fulham. Watch us struggle for the points because we always struggle against the poor sides. Fulham are a poor side. Hopefully our counter-attacking will come good. This is a team we should be stuffing if we had a fit goalscorer. Howay Gouffy!

These new long term contracts will be bandied around as new signings to try and offset the lack of senior players we cannot get “over the line” or is that me just being a doombringer or just being realistic?

Not sure about Mbiwa at RB, maybe he should okay LB and Santon on the right and it kooks like we only have cisse up front as I doubt he’ll play Armstrong
I’m going to the game so no doubt it’ll be another defeat

I expect these new contracts will include a relegation clause.
