We had an article out on Newcastle captain Fabricio Coloccini earlier today and said he was a very important player for Newcastle through the end of this season, and news tonight that Alan Pardew has asked his captain to deliver the half-time team talk during tomorrow’s game at Fulham.
Fabricio Coloccini - will talk to team at half time
This is what Alan Pardew has said:
“Colo can express his opinion at half-time because my opinion won’t be there,” “I want to try a couple of experiments in terms of dealing with the team a bit differently and one of them involves Colo.”
“I’ve said to Colo: ‘You need to take a bit more of an active role in the next three games.” “Colo is not the type of person to do some Churchillian speech, that’s not his way,”
“But he will find a way to offer John some assistance, I know he will.”
Colo is not a leader like for example Kevin Nolan is – he is not outspoken either in the dressing room or too much on the playing field either.
But he has earned immense respect from the players, and he leads by example both on and off the field, and the players will listen to what Colo says – and the captain will now chip in, and do more in these next few games to help out in Alan Pardew’s absence.
That’s what you expect from the captain, and it seems that Alan is trying hard to get the players to take more responsibility on the field and in the dressing room in his absence – and that seems a good ploy to us.
Let’s hope we can win tomorrow, and things will start to improve on Tyneside – that’s certainly what we are hoping for.
