Yoan Gouffran in action this afternoon against Fulham
Here is the video of the goal that beat Newcastle this afternoon at Craven Cottage, but Newcastle had their chances to score, and once again strikers Papiss Cisse and Luuk de Jong couldn’t get a goal – although Papiss did have two shots brilliantly saved by Fulham goalkeeper David Stockdale.
But this is three points dropped by Newcastle because it’s a game we should be winning, and Southampton gained 3 points on us by beating Norwich at St. Mary’s 4-2, and are now are two points above with a better goal difference.

Comment #5Saw it the first time, saw the replay. Krul should be ashamed of himself letting that one it. Probably the softest goal he has conceded in months.
We were clueless, completely lacking direction in midfield.

Comment #6I won’t be that bothered myself if we loose the rest of the games this season and more importantly don’t score.
Just keep playing cisse and dejong as front men and gouffran and sissoko as wide men.
Anything because i want something that will make ashley spend lots.
then again it makes the summer window even more of a concern because as each day goes by the worry will get bigger.

Comment #7I think de Jong is ok but he lacks any power at all in his shots everyone not just today trickles up to the goal unfortunately unless something dramatic happens in next few games can’t see him staying beyond his loan he is just not good enough

Comment #9More thoughts? Well last post for today.
Krul should not have conceded that although the ball was spinning.
At last the goal line technology comes to our rescue. Could’ve sworn that was a goal.
That Webb tool should have given the first penalty call.
We do need a CF, LDJ is not what we want. Like someone else said, he has to train on shooting the ball clean, it’s a small detail, but necessary in order to play football.

his composure is his biggest problem!
how many times have you seen him have a few great touches and then have a shocking touch?
you can’t do that in the middle plus who’s the other options out wide?
we don’t have any out n out experienced wingers!

Comment #18Why The Fcuk do we ALWAYS bring on our subs on soooo fcuking late!!!?? Our management is clueless it really is. And how in the hell can that donkey Strolla still be coming on the pitch is beyond anyone with a brain cell.
He is by far the worst ‘profesional footballer’ in the world. The day he leaves our club I am seriously going to drink at least a bottle of vodka to celebrate! What a clown of player he is. USELESS.
If say we would have had a proper striker in his place coming on from the bench perhaps we might have got something from the game. Heck anyone’s better than him. I’ll even have that turd Heskey ahead of him, he’s that bad!

Comment #25First half not bad, second half-hopeless. Way too many aimless hoofs up field for our strikers. Terrible crosses into the area and too many of them. Why don’t we just try and stick to shooting from the middle of the field instead of always always always going down the flanks!?
Ps. Where the fcuk is Ben Arfa!?? Our magician / saviour and our only real quality in the whole team? Is he injured or is he already seen as surplus and heading out of our club as that would be like 5000 kicks in my nutsack. I love that player, so exciting to watch even on his bad days.

i’m not being a critic of the team selection or manager. What i am saying is “what more will it take for ashley to spend in heavy this summer.
play cisse and dejong to tell ashley we need more goal scoring forwards
play sissoko and gouffran as wingers to convince ashley we need proper wingers.
basically it’s to see if this can convince ashley that we can’t take this summer like we have treated the last two summers

Comment #29massive lack of creativity. the plan is nearly always get sissoko/debuchy or dummett down the wing an cross, or hope for a clever flick between remy/de jong/cisse in the middle.
marveaux or ben arfa has to start ahead of cisse next game. cisse’s lost what he had. failing that sammy, who was motm against chelsea and spuds.

Comment #31Cisse is class on his day sadly he’s having the Torres syndrome.
De Jong great team player but I bloody well hope he knows how to strike a ball cleany, my God has he learnt how to scruff them from our very own clown Strolla Ameobi?
Strolla Ameobi- USELESS. No words can ever describe how awful a player this guy is. It makes me sick every time i see him play for us. I just can’t believe after all these years of doing the donkey that he still gets ahead of bright prospects like Armstrong and any other proper striker we have. Shocking, disgusting..no words are ever enough and I can’t help but vent my anger towards him no matter how hard I try to shut up about it.

The darkies in africa live in them mud huts still
From what I could tell (and I didn’t look particularly hard) the comment was completely out of the blue at half time. So no, manxpie is pretty much spot on.
@tequilamag: Most mixed race that I know don’t seem to care that much. If anything they get more irritated by people calling them “black”. Not saying it’s a rule rather than an exception, mind.

Comment #36didn’t agree with the subs an extra man in mid would have helped and done early in the second half
Armstrong 5 mins whats the point
I never thought this game would be easy but I couldn’t see us losing specially when we were saved by goal line tech
we didn’t seem to get out the traps today will be interesting to hear pardews assessment of it as some of what the commentators said might stick in his head lol

Comment #38Without Remy or a striker on his level we are bang average .
Also how are two DM’s in Anita & Tiote supposed to get assists ? , the closest thing to Cabaye we have in Marveaux barely gets a look in .
We need to clear some serious dead weight in the summer with the likes of Shola, Cisse and Obertan . De Jong has till the end of the season to start scoring or he can jog on as well .
This summer window is make or break for NUFC I’m afraid and we are dealing with Mike Ashley ladies and gentlemen .

Comment #39@JP: I feel like De Jong will be very much a Best like character. He’s still bedding in and looked a bit isolated today. He had a few more shots and a little bit more composure about him in front of goal than he has in previous games, so there’s some positives in my eyes. I reckon he could be a useful player for us… but unless he scores 2 or 3 I don’t think I’d bother with him.
