Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, for one reason or another, doesn’t seem to rate his young striker Romelu Lukaku, and he’s on a season-long loan deal at Everton, after serving a very successful loan spell at West Brom last season.
Romelu Lukaku – Chelsea will listen to offers for striker in the summer
Newcastle will be losing both Shola Ameobi and Loic Remy this summer, and our other two strikers, Papiss Cisse and Luuk de Jong – on loan from Borussia Monchengladbach, are having difficulty finding the net these days.
So it could be that Newcastle need to bring in two, or even more strikers in the summer, and certainly the 20 year-old former Anderlecht player, who stands 6’3″ tall and is built like a tank, has already proved he can score goals in the Premier League.
He was previously at Anderlecht in Belgium, and was only 18 when he signed for Chelsea in the summer of 2011 – yet while at Anderlecht he scored 41 goals in 98 appearances and also had 18 assists – that’s scary. 🙁
Chelsea paid out £10M for him almost three years ago, and that would rise to £17M based primarily on the number of appearances he makes for Chelsea – and currently he has played only 15 times for Chelsea with no goals.
Last season he scored 17 goals in 38 appearances for West Brom, and this season at Everton he has 11 goals in 23 appearances – so over the last two seasons while on loan, he has 28 goals in 61 appearances – which isn’t bad at all.
And at 20 he has already played 27 times for Belgium with 5 goals, and he also (of course) played for all the Belgium youth sides.
Both north London clubs Arsenal and Tottenham could also be after him in the summer, and there are bound to be some clubs on the continent who will be interested in signing the powerful striker.
He is valued at around €25M on transfermkt.com which is around £20M, and the Tyneside would have that kind of money to spend this summer, but that would also be a record signing for Newcastle United.
The big problem Newcastle have these days is that we are not in Europe, never mind in the Champions League, and top players like Lukaka want to play in the Champions League, and you cannot blame them for that.
Top players want to play in the top European League.
So it seems the chances of Newcastle signing this player are small at best – maybe very small – but in the past we would have gone after young players like this, who have such huge potential.
That’s one reason Newcastle must target the Champions League – otherwise we’ll never be able to sign top young players like this to the club.
We need more ambition at Newcastle – sorry to be like a broken record. 🙁
What do you think?

Comment #43There is no plan, there never is.
We’ll go with a few cheap imports and hope for the best.
Couple of players with no premier league experience no doubt.

I don’t see how Ashley will get away with it anymore bud by not investing in the squad unless he wants us in the championship. We are gonna lose at least half the first team and nobody is stepping up to the plate from the development squad

Comment #52ed could we at least keep the articles to targets we stand a slight chance of signing this man is way out of our league 20 mill not to mention he has ambitions to play at the top if not at Chelsea he will find a club that will match his ambition,

Comment #53I understand people being very wary of Ashley, I myself don’t back the bloke to do what’s best for the club, merely whats best for himself.
But surely after how close we can to relegation last season, having to spend a lot of money (for him anyway) on players in january after keeping all our best players from that season surely will show him that this year, after losing cabaye, remy, shola, de jong for sure (unless we pay for some of them, which is spending anyway) then we will be knackered.
I’m sure Ashley won’t gamble with all the tv money at stake, can’t see him getting nobody, expect to see at least 4 faces come in this summer…might not be enough but i don’t think he will leave us in genuine danger again.

to risk the new tv cash and the fact that we are a self financing club that can make a 10mill profit
would be insane
but with Ashley we just don’t know and we have no faith
why wait till the summer to bring in the dof they said they will bring in, a club in the state we are in need him here working on getting the players in as early as we can
so it looks like nothing will happen till he is in place then pards will be on hols so there will be another delay then all are targets will have moved on and we wont have a plan b as we never do
players like Aaron hunt is available on a free lot seem keen on him to replace cabs (I know nowt about him) we wont stand a chance that’s a deal that should be done now
so while we think it would be insane to gamble he already is
its a long time till sept 1st and a lot can happen all we can do is sit back and stomach the ride

Comment #56Whoever comes in it’s certainly going to be an interesting summer.
By my count there are more than 20 players being linked with a move away:
1- Loic Remy (Loan ends and no sign of permanent deal)
2- Luuk De Jong (Loan ends)
3- Shola Ameobi (Out of contract)
4- Dan Gosling (Out of contract)
5- Connor Newton (Out of contract)
6- Michael Richardson (Out of contract)
7- Steven Logan (Out of contract)
8- Jonathan Mitchell (Out of contract; may get new deal)
9- Remie Streete (Out of contract)
10- Brandon Miele (Out of contract)
11- Lewis Aird (Out of contract)
12- Jonas Gutierrez (In last year of contract, could get shipped out for around £1milion)
13- Sylvain Marveaux (Out of favour, likely to be sold for £2-3million max.)
14- Gabriel Obertan (Useless, hopefully be sold for around £3million)
15- Papiss Cisse (Just isn’t doing the business, need to ship him out for £8-10million)
16- Romain Amalfitano (Never anywhere near good enough, likely to be given a free transfer, if anyone will take him)
17- Hatem Ben Arfa (In last year of contract, and seemingly out of favour, out the door for £4million)
18- Shane Ferguson (The club is reportedly ready to listen to offers, £1million, if we’re lucky)
19- Mehdi Abeid (Could join Panathinaikos for £2million)
20- Mathieu Debuchy (Linked with Bayern Munich)
21- Davide Santon (Linked with move back to Italy)
22- Fabricio Coloccini (Likely to return to Argentina)
23- James Tavernier (In last year of contract, likely to moved on for small fee)
24- Haris Vuckic (Time could be running out for the youngster, may get a chance to impress in pre season)

of ur list only only the 2 loan players
shola, debuchy, benny, marv, santon, colo, cisse have any bearing on the first team
shola we can get by without him
marv not needed hardly makes the bench
santon we could sell and be ok with dummett and hadiars
benny again bench warmer
colo, mbiwa will replace him and maybe good will get his go
cisse I have a bit of faith but given his contribution we can live with out him
so its not that bad
remy is the biggest concern take him away and we are sunk
now we can either find a way to get cisse banging the goals in again or u sell and replace where are we going to get a striker like remy for around 8 mill,
the team don’t play to cisse strengths although with goofy and sissoko on wings they are a lot less selfish than having benny out there
should we not give cisse the chance with ldj and see if we can get him goin again it better than building remys ego and dreams of a top 5 club
the others there are better out there available but none been sold so all the time there contracted to us we wont replace em

Comment #59I think Pardew uses what we have reasonably well, but there are problems with certain players who can’t find any consistency. Our best 11 when Cabs was here was a very good, neat, tight, passing and threatening unit. He’s got the best out of some and not others in what appears a fairly disparate bunch. I think a more reasonable expectation of the manager and club is that they build a squad of the type of players the manager can bring the best out of. I think that’s more Gouffran, Sissoko, Remy types and fewer Benny, Marv and Cisse ones. But the club don’t operate like that, it seems to have a more opportunist than considered approach to transfers. I wonder who the players prefer to play with Sissoko or Benny, Remy or Cisse, Gouffran or Marv. I’d suggest the formers, because they are far more in tune with teamwork.

even when cabs was here we were very inconstant we have been all season and all last season why is this
a few were chatting earlier about our coaching and how it looks like its a bit out dated and in need off an over haul
if you were a striker who would you wanna play with goofy or sissoko or benny that will find u with a magical pass once twice a year and then take it on himself the rest of the time or the ones that will give you the ball regular ur not wrong its goofy and co

Comment #61Was also so annoying we got beat off Fulham because Man Utd got spanked again so we could have cut the gap to them to a couple of points
Hope yesterdays result and performance showed that Carver is just as clueless as Pardew if not more so I mean why the hell did we bring on Shola for Cisse and not make changes sooner when they were clearly outnumbered in midfield ?? Marveux or Gosling could have done a job in a 5 man midfield well better than what Cisse was offering up front
Its time to give Armstrong a chance for me now as Cisse is finished he should never play again for us that miss in the 2nd half was shocking should be burying that De Jong links play well but he cant hit a shot properly ?Never seems to get the right connection ??

I think what you’re saying could be rephrased to you hope that Ashley doesn’t leave us in genuine danger again. There is nothing to suggest he will sign 4 players in the summer, other than blind faith in the guy to learn from his lessons.
Is there anything to suggest that he does in fact learn from his mistakes?

Comment #73I still don’t believe a DoF is what we need and it will be interesting to see in the summer what direction Mike will go!
…will he be going down the same route as he did with both Dennis Wise and JFK or will he appoint someone like Llambias…someone to Newcastle and not to oversee the football side of it, but the business side of it.
Newcastle is in a limbo right now! Personally I am not sure we will get a DoF and I honestly don’t hope so. A CEO with the knowledge of running a football club or close would be the right direction I think!

Comment #74For me, this summer is the one which will make or break MA/AP at NUFC. We need players. Good players. Desperately. The finances are there to make it happen.
As for Lukaku…I know Chelsea are apparently ready to listen to offers for him. I would have him in a heartbeat, a complete forward is a rarity these days, and he is one. He has scored goals at every club he has played for. It will be a £15m fee I reckon, which will cover Chelsea’s losses(wages/bonuses/signing fees, plus transfer fee), which I just do not see Mike Ashley pulling out for a single player. Considering our other two targets(Cabella and Grenier) are going to cost over £12m.
All I can say is that this summer is the big chance for AP to rebuild the squad. If we don’t do it this summer, it’s the end for him, and likely for MA too, as we will really see what his ambitions are for the Toon.
