The news in the Mail today is that Alan Pardew is again being linked with a return to Crystal Palace, but that’s unlikely to happen unless the Newcastle manager gets the sack at the end of the season, which is unlikely.
Alan Pardew – Crystal Palace interested in him
This news is being reported because it seems that new manager Tony Pulis, the former Stoke City manager and the Chairman Steve Parish don’t seem to get along, even though Palace have done quite well since Tony took over the club last November from Ian Holloway.
Yesterday at Sunderland it was a typical Tony Pulis performance from Palace, wasting time from the first whistle, and stoutly defending with a good game-plan, against a Sunderland side that just couldn’t score.
And the game ended 0-0, but if Sunderland are to avoid relegation they need to start winning some games.
The reason Alan Pardew’s name comes up is that he has a good relationship with Steve Parish, but Alan would hardly be willing to give up the Newcastle job to go back to Crystal Palace,.
Pardew was a player at the London club from 1987 through 1991 and of course they reached the FA Cup final in 1990, before losing 1-0 to Manchester United in a replay.
Pardew played 128 times for Palace with 8 goals, having joined them from Yeovil.
There’s no chance that Alan Pardew will become the Crystal Palace manager anytime soon, unless of course we have a terrible run-in to the season, and owner Mike Ashley decides to fire Pardew.
But there’s only a very slim chance of that happening, and Newcastle will need to build for the future in this summer’s transfer window, with a number of players leaving the club..
