Bad News On Both Loic Remy And Mathieu Debuchy

8:44 am, Monday, March 17th, 2014 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 9 Comments

Newcastle were without both Mathieu Debuchy and Loic Remy on Saturday, and it showed, but the new news on both players from assistant manager John Carver today is not good, so the team that managed to give Fulham their first win in 10 games with a below-par performance,  will have to battle Crystal Palace at home on Saturday. :(

Loic Remy – out another two to three weeks

This is what John Carver said this morning:

“We think Loic is out for two to three weeks and Mathieu three to four weeks, so we have the next three or four games where they’re likely to be missing and these guys will have to step up.

Well they didn’t step up on Saturday, and we wondered before the game who would score the goals with Remy missing – and the answer was nobody. :(

And while it’s true that Papiss Cisse had two efforts very well saved by the goalkeeper – the truth is Papiss should have scored with both chances, and they came before Fulham’s goal and could (would?) have changed the game in Newcastle’s favor.

But to be fair to Papiss, he is still getting into scoring positions, even though he’s having  a poor season  – with only three goals in 20 appearances.

Both Luuk de Jong and Papiss Cisse will need to take their chances while Loic is out, because their future Newcastle careers depend on it – but both players seem to be lacking confidence, and with strikers,  confidence is almost everything.

This is not good news on the injury front from John Carver today.

And Crystal Palace under Tony Pulis will come and park a couple of buses in Newcastle’s penalty area on Saturday, so it will not be easy to score goals – as they demonstrated at Sunderland on Saturday in the 0-0 draw.

Comments welcome.

    welsh

with Sammy in the squad now we can lose obatan and Jonas without the need to replace

to replace them 2 wingers for the youth/reserve that we can loan out and bring through

    Transfer Sage

That’s the problem I think some of them will leave, we will just have to wait and see in the summer when the window opens, I just hope none of us will be disappointed.

    welsh

I think good and abied have done enough to make preseason tour
    maybe newton

but I think the most of the other will be sold off, cambell will go back out onloan
vuckic might get another chance due to the amount of time he has missed through injury

the rest are not performing at the level there at so it would appear there not going to make it for us

We have to bite the bullet and play Gouffran up front as a number 10 behind LDJ.

Gouffran is our most likely player to score if he is up front. Put Marv, Sammy Santon or Gosling out wide in his place.

    Mbiwa – Colo – Willo – Haidara
    Sissoko – Anita – Tiote – Santon
    —————–Gouffran—————–
    ——————–LDJ———————-

Thats about our best chance of scoring at the moment.

It’s a pity about Shane ferguson I thought he played well when he first started

Couldn’t you put gouffran up front with sissoko behind him or not
