Big Clubs Interested In Newcastle’s Star Player

There is a report on the Italian site Tuttomercato that Roma are interested in signing Newcastle’s French International right back Mathieu Debuchy in the summer.

Mathieu Debuchy – could leave Newcastle in summer

The reason is the same reason that Yohan Cabaye was often linked with a move to Roma, and it’s simply their former manager at Lille, Rudi Garcia, is now the Roma manager this season, and of course he knows all about Yohan and Mathieu.

Mathieu has improved a lot in just over one year on Tyneside, and he is likely to be the big Newcastle star that top European clubs will come after in the summer, much like Yohan Cabaye was that player last summer and in January that top clubs pursued, and of course Cabaye finally left in January for PSG for around £20M.

Since joining Newcastle from Lille in January of last year ,Mathieu has become the number one French right back, and is expected to start for France in the World Cup in June in Brazil,  and he’s also improved his consistency in the tough English Premier League.

The news is that Garcia wants Debuchy at the Italian club to replace the aging 32 year-old Brazilian full-back Maicon, whose deal runs out next summer.

Roma are second top of the Italian League but 14 points behind Juventus, but they are also 13 points above 4th placed Fiorentina so they will likely qualify for the Champions League next season.

And that’s the weakness at Newcastle, because we cannot offer our top players the Europa League – never mind the Champions League.

Debuchy is 28 and at Newcastle he has 42 appearances with one goal, and he now has 19 French caps with two goals, and most of those have come since he joined Newcastle United.

And we wouldn’t be too surprised if PSG also come after him in the summer, where he could be given the chance to rejoin his best friend Yohan Cabaye – this time in Paris.

Comments welcome.

    Mind shaft

Sponsors pay money when you play well and they can see the potential and profits for their cos through the club.

I don`t see the point having top international stars, and a League One manager.

And Debuchy is as everyone knows, a close friend to Cabaye. He will be off to PSG in the summer, trust me.

We must start all over again, bringing in hungry players who wants to play for our beloved club, and players who we know can cope with PL (Nathan Clyne, Lallana —>)
Or use Santon on right side

Yeah I have to agree with you. In the beginning his ideas were for the most part good ones, he wanted to win things, and he wanted a team that could compete with the top four. Great ideas, but when things started to go wrong, and the fans got on his back he run away.

It’s fare to say the fat man cannot take criticism, and will hide from it at every opportunity. Now I think he sees it as Him against us and because he holds all the major playing cards he can sit back and watch us squirm.

He is very happy to have his SD boosted by NUFC, and sit in the premier league without the ambition to move up a class, He is in a win win situation, and we can do nothing about it.

Even if he were to sell the club tomorrow on the cheap, his has won having already got his money’s worth out of it via SD.

He doesn’t need ambition, he doesn’t want ambition, that would cost him to much. Ashley is a very happy man, he has us right where he wants us.
