Loic Remy Spotted With Arsenal Officials

It looks French striker Loic Remy is very likely to join Arsenal this summer, when his one year loan deal at Newcastle runs out, and the player has been seen in London this week meeting with Arsenal officials.

Loic Remy has met with Arsenal officials

Remy has scored 13 goals in just 24 appearances on Tyneside, and he has been outstanding for the Magpies this season, and the QPR striker is expected to join a bigger club in the summer.

The news is being reported in Football Direct News, which is owned by Mike Ashley, so maybe this is some inside information leaking out.

Remy has apparently been spotted in a London hotel with Arsenal officials, so it looks like the London club have stolen a march on some other big clubs – like Chelsea – who are also interested in signing the 27 year-old striker – who could be available for just £8M.

Tottenham Hotspur have also been interested in Remy, but Tottenham will not be able to offer the former Marseilles striker Champions League football, and it seems he will be an Arsenal player next season.

Once Newcastle sold Yohan Cabaye in January and failed to replace him, that was a big message to Loic and the rest of the Newcastle players that the club did not have enough ambition to become a big club again in England, and it was almost certain Remy would not sign for Newcastle.

That’s turning out to be true – sad but true.

Comments welcome.

Even if this story is true or not we all know Remy is gone this summer. What would be more interesting would be discussing who might replace him.

We will try all summer to get Gomis over the line before he joins free spending giants Osasuna on a free.

    apologies repost.
I must say I do not like these stories about individual players problems -viz the Guardian article saying the rest of the team turned against Benny -and then detrimental comments from Percy -should be kept in the dressing room. To me looks like it is curtains for Benny at the Toon. all this stuff about him being unfit (again) -how can this happen to a professional athlete who we presume is monitored in great detail. something definitely going on here -plus I suspect an initial shot from the Toon that Benny is out the door.

Also Mr Tubbs Football news channel is reporting that Remy has been spotted in a London hotel with Arsenal officials. Can NUFC do anything about this -bearing in mind he is not our player. Thought he was injured. I am a bit suspicious of the “injuries” to him and Debuchy – he also might have been using his “injury time off” to get a new future for himself sorted out before the summer.

Addition – when Cabaye was “injured” over the new year -he was back in Paris – he was probably getting his move sorted out.

    Mr Tuff,
    Good Morning,
I don’t know why Ed is avoiding the land sale issue, is the 3/5M really worth it, I suppose on a spreadsheet it will pay for the discounted season tickets and help with the ‘interest free’ loan.

I am not sure on this but I don;t think Remy would be allowed to talk to any club until his loan deal with us is up. If we are given the option to buy at the end of a loan deal then before any other club can make an offer or speak to the player they would have to wait until we ourselves decided on an offer as per agreement.

Pardrew has said in the past that the money has been set aside for Remy, and Remy himself has not said he will not sign for us. He just said he was keeping his options open till the end of the season.

I tend to ignore the press for the most part and just accept everything they print/publish is lies.

I used the quote above from an interview Remy gave in January on TV. He said he would not be joining us in Jan, but was keeping his options open. He also spoke very highly of the club and fans, and thanked them for coming back in for him after the way he snubbed us to join QPR.

We all know he had no intention to sign for us but if it is true and he has met with arsenal officials whilst out “injured” then he needs to get dropped and a good talking too by either QPR or NUFC because that is a total lack of respect for the club, his teammates and us fans! Cheeky cnut! But the story is from sports direct news and we all know they love to flog our players!

Senor Tuff…we will get no money for Benny and no replacement!

…see them complain about this 😉 Good riddance in my book.

Jail – morning – I noted that Ciaran had notified ED of this article yesterday and was also surprised the story had not been posted. any monies obtained from the land sale will be a fleabite in the grand scheme of things – and it would probably put and end to any future development plans. There were some images posted (links to) what the Gallowgate would have looked like – really what an impressive development proposal it could have been.
