Newcastle 1 Crystal Palace 0 – Video Highlights

papiss cisse scores palace

Papiss Cisse heads home after 93 mins and about 22 seconds today

Here are the video highlights this afternoon’s game at St. James’ Park,  and Papiss Cisse’s dramatic late winner – thanks to 101 Great Goals.

You have to page down to get the video once you get to the 101 Great Goals site.

And Mike Ashley was at the game today for the first time in a long time – and probably will have some transfer meetings with Alan Pardew and company.

    Great tweet:

Disgraceful way AP has treated HBA – most creative player in team publicly lambasted because doesn’t confirm to the #nufc negative approach

I heard De Jong on BBC Newcastle a few days ago talking about playing defensively for us and not just as a striker .

No wonder we never score .

    BPC

it’s got nothing to do with pardew wanting to go defensive, the problem pardew has with HBA is he is far too inconsistant. Just prior to when he made that cross the blog was getting comments everyone including myself, saying how he was not picking out the passes also we were starting to do hoofball and palace were in the same 30 minutes a much bigger threat at us.

He can start the rest of the games this season but next season i certainly would rather see a proper wing who is very consistant not a one who likes to show himself off.

BPC did you here pardew the other day??

hes said if he isn’t providing assists or goals it doesn’t balance

    infact his full quote was….

“im concerned with his assists and goals. He needs to produce for us.
don’t confuse that i have a problem with his work rate because if he’s getting goals n assists that balances its self out!
but if he isn’t, then it aint balancing up”

thats a very very fair and right statement and sums up why he should or shouldn’t start!

But he’s so inconsistent, you say. Dude, this is Newcastle! The definition of inconsistency. Show me a consistent player and he ain’t a Newcastle player.

    toonking,

I know it is a case of personal taste and opinion, but I prefer a moment of sublime skill to hours of workmanlike endeavor; and I’m prepared to patiently put up with all the gambles that don’t come off to see something that is remarkable and memorable.

    @ king

Is it better to be inconsistent but come up with the goods 1 in every 3 games or contribute nothing at all ? .

Gouffran has done nothing in the second half of this season yet gets no criticism whatsoever because he “helps out defensively” which IMO is bullsh*t .

HBA only gets slated because he tries to beat a man or go for goal and unless you are Ronaldo or Messi 9 times out of 10 it will end in nothing but at least he TRIES .

It is similar to midfielders that are constantly judged on their passing accuracy but 90% of them are across field or backwards, but the stats look good so who cares .

Also don’t think I am hating on Gouffran as I think he is probably our best striker at the moment and I would play him centrally .

Hba had a great cameo performance, but i dont think that he should start the next game, Yes, he made a difference when coming on, but i believe he is best as a sub at around the 60th minute. Btw, where was Sammy Ameobi, i thought that he was one of our best players during that rough period. Surely he did enough there to get on the bench ? Sad to see no armstrong. Great win though.

the point i’m making is these players were not world class in the first place so it’s got little to do with what pardew chooses.

our only consistant players this season are

    willo-who pardew must have improved.

debuchy- who was so poor for the first 6 months last year.

remy-he did go on a drought but so does every striker.

    tiote- excellent all season long

    Toonking,
I really am not disagreeing with you. Still, those ‘consistent’ players you single out have also been slated big time by fans. What is my concern? This guy (HBA) may be a poor man’s Hazard, but he’s my hazard, if you catch my drift. There is a very real danger that he will slip from our hands this summer and we stay with the graft and not the craft. I fear that. Think Stoke, if you will.

If you want a hard working grafter in midfield, don’t play benny. Why does pardew expect benny to graft from box to box?

Pedro didn’t graft box to box. I dont want to see cisse grafting box to box. Benny puts the hard work in when he’s on the ball or when he thinks he might get on it. if he can’t compete for an attacking position, don’t play him.

Bear in mind pardew looks to benny when plan A fails. Benny doesn’t want to be a replacement player as part of a failed plan A. He recognises that he is plan B and has to do something special in the little time he’s got to save the game.

You must be talking about a certain Barca player, rather than Beardo when you say ‘Pedro didn’t graft box to box’. |If not, then you are wrong. Beardo always grafted.
