Newcastle Should Think Twice Before Selling Ben Arfa

The game this afternoon against 4th bottom Crystal Palace was very pedestrian and not very exciting, and while both sides had chances to score, Newcastle had a lot more of the chances, but we missed them all until  three minutes into stoppage time.

Ben Arfa – made the difference today

And in a game like this, where there wasn’t too much class on display, it often takes a bit of that class to win the game.

And Newcastle brought on a class player after 59 minutes, and it was the first appearance of Ben Arfa since the terrible Tottenham defeat, when he did not have a good game.

And this afternoon Ben Arfa put in a beautiful cross that enabled Papiss Cisse to head the ball into the net in stoppage time, and it was 3 points for Newcastle.

It was a second league goal for Papiss Cisse this season, and his fourth goal overall, and another assist from the mercurial 27 year-old French International.

It’s in a boring and uninspired game like this,  that a player with Ben Arfa’s skill can make the difference, and he made the difference today, that’s for sure.

We hope Newcastle decide to keep Ben Arfa this summer, and offer him a new deal, since at the end of June he will have only one year left on his current contract.

And Ben Arfa has another eight games left to help Newcastle put in a strong finish in the league, and maybe the Frenchman can start up front with Papiss Cisse on Tuesday night against Everton at home?

And the French winger is an entertainer, and Newcastle fans just love players like Hatem Ben Arfa.

What do you think?

BPC did you see that ball he chose to sky way over the bar rather than pick a pass

also how can we be sure that cross he made was not infact an attempt at goal which we were lucky enough to go towards cisse.

their is only 2 crosses i saw him do in the whole 30 minutes since he came on and one was just forced because it would have went out.

unless you will give praise to pardew for despite the same mistakes he does each and every week why should HBA be getting full praise when he does the same greedy selfish manner each and every week?

I agree that Benny can be world class but for me blows cold far to often. If he could bring consistency to his game and become a team player……we would have an hell of a player on our hands

    Toonking,

I really am not disagreeing with you. Still, those ‘consistent’ players you single out have also been slated big time by fans. What is my I really am not disagreeing with you. Still, those ‘consistent’ players you single out have also been slated big time by fans. What is my

think twice before selling him don’t have to SOLD

class player on his day but how often does he have a day today he ran down blind alleys was selfish what is the point wingers/creative mids are supposed to be the provider sadly he wont provide weekly

time to bring in 2 proper wingers that can, 1 left footed and right

good result for cisse iam happy for him and for benny to get the assist
but overall the result papers over the cracks in the team

thought palace were poor and we scraped 3 points

i can see where you were coming from.
HBA is a one of them players who can cause the blog to go into mayhem, on his day he can be a great player. the problem comes at the times he is not playing as he should because that is where their is massive divide on the blog people like me accuse him of being a hazard and very inconsistant but people like BPC take the easy route and blame pardew.

I’ve always said that we should keep HBA, I know that there may be a bit of personal memories involved in me for that but he is a flair player who can win matches, although I do accept the criticisms. Sadly, I do believe he will go in the summer, I just hope we can get some money for him but I would love to see him stay, an important win today also.

How can people call Ben Arfa selfish when he only had one shot on goal and attempted to dribble past a couple of players once? All the other times he was creating space for himself to make a pass or passing it.

Some people have to open their eyes and forget his lazy performances in the past. Today thanks to him we looked that bit more dangerous to the opposition and it was his final ball that made all the difference in the end!

Ones we should sell are Marveaux and Obertan! Those two are bloody useless. Marveaux has the edge over Obertan but way too often goes missing in games. HBA on the other hand is always causing the opposition problems even if he’s having an off day.

i am a big fan of HBA since his lyon and marseille days, however i do agreed that starting last season and this season he is a bit selfish.

He keep on beating 3-4 players and want to repeat his blackburn goal.

Ben Arfa gets slated for not unlocking defences when he’s not at his best. We rely too heavily on him to create the magic. The fact is, he’s the only player bar Remy who is capable of doing so. In a better side, with players who want the ball and with better movement off the ball you will see his full potential. I think he’s sometimes used as a scapegoat because we expect him to be world class. He’s not going to do it every game but yesterday’s three points were down to him and him only.
